Final Fantasy fans have a lot to look forward come the warmer weather in 2010. In a gathering at GamesCom, Final Fantasy producer Yoshinori Kitase stated that the North American and European versions of FFXIII would arrive simultaneously in spring 2010 where as the Japanese version will see store shelves winter 2010.

More good news comes via Kitase’s recent interview with 1UP where he estimated that the North America Xbox 360 version was 70% done and the Japanese PS3 version was 90% done. Why is this good news? Well, with the game that close to completion the odds of a delay look slim. That’s one more awesome game due for the first half of 2010, when wallets everywhere will be taking major losses to their HPs.

On one hand, I'm super glad that the release dates are relatively near, but on the other hand.. just seeing this announcement makes it all that much harder to wait. FF wasn't even on my mind and now it is...

Well look at it this way. Final Fantasy XII took 5 years until it came out on the PS2 and look how good it was...it was revied 10/10 for everything. It was official PS2 game of the year 2008. The sales were huge...

It's reasonable that Final Fantasy XIII will take 4 years to come out, the games are getting better and better. Sometimes just 1 game can make a lot of sales rather then let's say 2 or 3 mini games.

omg, omg, omg...... the summons in XIII are the same as in VIII!!!

finally a protagonist that is not a girl, a girly boy or a kid. why can't they make one so badass as auron? at least as cool as cloud or squall. i had to wait for 4 final fantasy titles to get a kewl protagonist.

The release date for the Japanese version of FF13 has been announced as Dec 17th...


I'd love to import the game, but my Japanese language skills are pretty much limited to numbers... so I doubt it would be that fun to play.

I bought a 360.. now COME 2010!

Well, maybe now they can give us some gameplay videos from Versus. Actually, Versus is the true next gen FF as said by some developers, and I understand that they aren't showing much about it mainly because of regular 13, but c'mon, I want to play versus next year, and given what we know so far, I don't know if it'll be possible...

You know, even after all these years FF still amazes me, not only gameplay-wise but it has some of the best soundtracks I've ever heard in a video game.

We've got a long wait til we see it over here in Europe; June 2010.

The latest trailer revealed the release date for US and Europe will be March 9, 2010. A little bit of the storyline and the Paradigm Shift are also discussed by the game developers. The theme song for the US and UK version titled "My Hands" will be sung by Leona Lewis.

Xbox 360 to be inferior to the PS3 version due to size limitation on the DVD-discs compared to a blue-ray disc... <.<

It looks like there will be a limited edition of FFXIII released in Europe.

Here is the official announcement by Square Enix Europe:

"If you thought your excitement for FINAL FANTASY XIII had reached fever pitch, brace yourself for the news of a forthcoming Limited Collector’s Edition version of next year's most anticipated title. What's in the box you ask? I'm afraid we're keeping schtum for the time being, but rest assured that the extras will be well worth the wait."

The reviews for FFXIII don't seem that good. Everyone is throwing around phrases like "incredibly linear", "its more of a movie than a game", and " you’re automatically healed to full strength after each battle"... My hopes for this being a great FF game are dwindling by the day.

lol, You'll always find people to dislike games vintage. I've asked a couple of people about it and they're loving it. And Square has probably accounted for the healing after each battle by making hard battles hard even with full HP.

From what I've heard, it's linear until halfway of the main plot. After that, things are more like open world.

Not to mention many people out there are just the first opportunity to criticize FF, given the fact these people doesn't like JRPGs.

From others reviews, people are saying this game will make you feel like playing a super nes FF, and that's only great.

Final Fantasy VII on the PlayStation Store - Data Consumption?

Alright, I've scoured Google pretty well and searched forums (and the respective official sites of course) but I can't seem to find out how much data Final Fantasy VII and VIII (the PS3/PSP versions) take up. Can someone who owns the game be so kind as to inform me of exactly how much data these games take up?
