Well, the thing is when they first announced FF XIII they simultaenously annouced Versus too. After the release of FF XIII, I was waiting for a release date or some new information about Versus but all of a sudden they decided to release FF XIII-2 before Versus. :headscratch
I know, right? From all Fabula Nova Crystallis series, I was looking forward for Versus the most. But when I tried to search for new information about this game after some time, it seemed like it didn't grow too far. It even missed being displayed on an event (I forgot what, not very familiar with this kind of things). Perhaps people's expectation go in favor of FF XIII and its sequel more than Versus. >__<

Yeah, now I remember reading somewhere, that the publisher wanted to show some first impressions at last or this year TGS (Tokyo Game Show) I'm not sure about that anymore. Then all of a sudden they announced it for next year! They probably planned it beforehand... I'm still patiently wait for any news concerning Versus. :(

Woot! Just finished FFIV! Zeromus had been bugging me for a long time and so I decided to do some massive grinding. By the time I was done grinding, everyone was lvl 80+. Anyway, I was wondering if FFIV The Complete Collection is worth getting? Ever since I heard about the After Years, I've been interested in playing it. The Intermission also seems pretty interesting. So is it worth getting?

And is the FFV available on PSN any good? I've got the PS version and was wondering if there were any improvements on the PSN version (such as not having to wait quite a few seconds to open the main menu).

Huge news from the TGS!! Apparently Square Enix will release Final Fantasy X in HD for the PS3 and PS Vita. It's currently in development that's why there is no news concernig the release date.

Seems like it's "90% done" and the exact release date will be announced at this TGS:

FFXIII-2 will be out on Dec. 15th (Japan), January 31 (NA), and February 3rd (Europe). It will also have DLCs. SE also revealed that there will be two different singers who will sing the theme song. Mai Fukui will sing the song in the Japanese version while Charice will sing for the NA and European versions.

Check out the pics of Snow and Hope

This question came around very often here - just look at the previous pages <I think the beginning would be the best with those all questions there and answers <first page, at the end ^^>
But without any delay, I always recommend 1 title: FF6 - the best FF game ever! <imo :p>
Then you can instantly play FF7 <3

thanks juunior, looks like it's a consensus that FF6 and FF7 are the best, at least what I've read here.
Did you play all FF games? If yes, how would you rate FF6/FF7 in comparison to FF9?

Think I'm gonna buy at least FF7 :cookiehand even though it's kinda expensive

@naruto-niichan, no, I haven't played every FF game xD I mean: I played only to nr9 <excluding remakes that hardcore I was to play NES FFs :p> because I didn't own at the time ps2/3 to play FF10 and onwards ^^ Thats why I like to read other ppl opinions about the newest titles.

FF9 <of course IMO> in comparison to 6 & 7? Just a very good and solid FF from <then> Square - and they were back to more 'anime' looking characters. The thing is: for me FF 6 & 7 are the peak of genius in FF series, its hard for me to compare to other FF titles <because any FF is very good for one thing, and I found sth interesting in every title nonetheless> Just in 6 & 7 there is everything maxed up for me: characters, story, villain/s, magic, summons, world/s, etc.

And question to anyone: FF6 remake on next gen console is coming or not?

Ah I see, so you even played the first, second and so on? o_o
to be honest I still love the old NES style but when I looked at a few FF6 pics I just thought wtf? Dunno why but I associate a high grafic level with FF. Even FF9 was gorgeous, especially the sequences. That's why I can't really imagine a FF with NES graphic.

A remake would definitely be nice but I only heard that FF X gets a remake :/ Wouldn't it be great if they would remake every FF that wasn't released for PS3/XBOX360? :zomg

I quess old FF titles has some 'magic' in them, and I was hardcore fan of FF games back then - now I'm only fan who even doesn't play anymore :p

But you know what - at the time, graphic lvl of NES in FF games on in SNES games was really sth, like nowadays ppl say that about next gen consoles graphics. The thing is that you need to be masochist to play NES FF1-3.. like me xd SNES graphics aren't so bad, especially for FF6 - it got major upgrade in graphic department compared to FF4-5 on SNES, too. Not to mention there are plenty remakes of old FF on handhelds for example, which have more advanced graphics than good old SNES - basically, you don;t need to play 'original' FF from eg. NES, you can play a game from that platform with much, much better graphics now <unless you're like me and wants to play the very original FF game :p>. Fortunately, FF games aren't only gauged by graphics, hyhy xD

The issue I have with later final fantasy games is that the presentation is more about "graphics" than it is "artwork" and "story". So i would hate to see them remake something like Final Fantasy 6 or 7 and force it into the graphical style they use now because i honestly think it would do more harm than good to the games.

Of all the Final Fantasy games, i like 7 & 8 the most because they had good stories, good characters, and they had an art style all their own. Final Fantasy 7 was the first Final Fantasy game to step out of 2D and Final Fantasy 8 was the first to introduce the more realistic style which became the base for Square-Enix's default hyper-realistic style.

If they redid any of the older games i would hope they would update that game's own art style rather than force it into the hyper-realistic style. Because if they did i think the result would be quite a mess.

---------------------------------------------------

I think it's long past time for Square-Enix actually try something artistically new and return to building a game around a plot instead of building a plot around a game.

I wish they would lure over some art directors from Atlus. A Final Fantasy game done in the a style more similar to Persona or Catherine would be amazing.

The three most recent FFs are a far cry from yesteryear with FF10 being best of the 3 because it had the best story. FF 12 storyline was horrendous and 13 was...ok. The biggest thing they had going for all of them at the time was graphics. The old games had everything....great stories (at the time), great characters (at the time)...FF6 is a game that was so far beyond its years its ridiculous.

Oh the gameplay for FF12 for me was another redeeming factor, I found it hugely addictive...everything was cool, except the treasure system. The way you got rare items from chest and things like that was fucking evil...I thought dodging 200 lightning bolts in FF10 was bad -___-

Hopefully the next FF story is more engrossing than visually appealing, I'm more of a story guy. I'm always willing to play SMT titles and Persona titles and they aren't known for graphics

Andriasang has more info about FFXIII-2 and VS.

First, FFXIII-2 will have two discs for both PS3 and Xbox 360 version. The link above also have information about the story, battles, etc. You can also watch the two TGS trailers and hear the theme song for the international version.

Nomura aslo revealed some details about VS XIII.

Nomura says that he recently did a walkthrough of the full world map. He also did a check on the game's dungeons and the side paths in the game's towns. He was impressed with how expansive everything is.
He also mentioned that SE is using the next new-generation engine, Luminous, which is being used to redo the game's lightning.

Another Type-0 update

It's pretty sweet that the characters level up while the PSP is in sleep mode

FFXIII-2 will have preorder bonuses

If you order from Amazon, you will get Omega Boss Battle as DLC. If you get it from Gamestop, you will get an alternate costume for Serah. However, if you order it from Best Buy, you will receive hardcover copies of Final Fantasy XIII – Episode i –, which is a novella explaining what happened in between the first and second games.

Hmmm... I think either Amazon or Best Buy are the best choices imo.
