PC & Destiny PS4

I finally took the first step to a gaming capable PC after my old graphics card got a defect. Bought a i5-4670k to force me to buy the rest until the end of the year, finally getting a quiet case. Would move faster, if I hadn't dedicated myself to some Destiny action in one month's time. So who else is gonna get Destiny for PS4?

So I finally beat Golden Sun, and the ending left me in the same state as when I watched Attack on Titan for the first time.



Only big difference is that AoT didn't show me people climbing up the same accursed tower over, and over, and over, and over, and over etc.
I had to watch trees instead...

I thought "Yaaaaaayyyy!!! Let's continue our adventure, and save the wo--" "Wait! Why are the credits rolling?!"
I wonder when Metroid Zero Mission is gonna hit the Virtual Console...*sigh*

Just golden sun 1 or the lost age? Its my favorite rpg franchise.

Golden Sun 1.
I do really like the battle system, and the Djinn adds a nice mix of strategy into it.
But some of the cutscenes stretched out a bit too long for me.
Overall I really loved it, but the long tedious up and down the Venus Lighthouse due to the continuous losses really made me lose my temper.
But it was still worth the money and I look forward to when they release the sequel on VC.

I'm still undecided on it. It's going to depend a lot one how much story content there is and how good it turns out to be. My takeaways from the Alpha and Beta was something of a mixed bag. If it turns out to be purely a loot and shoot MMO then I'll probably skip it.

I'm too story oriented for that.

Otherwise it's basically just a more high budget version of the Defiance video game. Except first person and with a lower player cap. The radiant events in Destiny were not nearly as impressive as I'd hoped they'd be. In the Beta I don't think I ever saw more than 4 people tackling one of them. In Defiance you'd get like 20-50 people almost every time.

Probably will definitively get Destiny on PS4, I just hope I have partners to do the missions as its kind of difficult, no it is, difficult alone. Multiplayer was addicting though.

You wont see 20+ people fighting an enemy, as that's not what the game was made for. Raids are to be played with six and are supposed to be quiet hard, as they wont allow LFG/match-making grps for those.

Made me interested into FFXIV though, I need a magic MMO fix again. hehe

SquareEnix is at it again. In what has become a "classic Square Enix move" they have decided to make the next installment of it's Tomb Raider franchise Xbox One exclusive for the 2015 holiday season. This likely means that it will come to other platforms later on but still a stupid thing to do for so many reasons.

Basically the last Tomb Raider game (which was considered a failure by them) sold 2.6 million on Sony consoles. It sold around 1.9 million on Microsoft Consoles. And a mere 0.17 million on the Xbox One. So they literally made it at least a timed exclusive to the platform the last game sold the least number of copies on. Which just makes no financial sense. Even if Microsoft is giving them a large incentive of some kind it's still going to be a huge hit to total sales of the game.

Even if it comes out a month later on other consoles, it's just setting the game up to get buried in the news cycle.

I'm really in the mood for twitch plays pokemon again, I followed the first one and didn't even care about the others. I hope they start it over again some day.

Respectable how? Because of the slew of sequels and spinoffs? The reboot was pretty damn successful, all things considered. It makes perfect sense for Sony or Microsoft to want the sequel as an "exclusive". Doesn't mean it's a good thing for gaming in general. I've never liked exclusivity when it comes to third party developers.

I liked the Tomb Raider reboot. Thought it was a great game but Square Enix was pretty forthright with the fact that it didn't meet expectations. Which just were unrealistic sales goals, IMO

It's only reaching those original sales marks now after pc and next gen rereleases and discounted versions of the original giving the numbers a boost.

This move carries the real risk of cutting sales of the next Tomb Raider game in half. Or worse than that if the reviews aren't good or if it faces tough competition. I don't know how much Microsoft is paying Square but it better be a lot; or this is just a terrible deal.

Because her original games were a powerful enough IP back then to spawn sequels and a motion picture, sure it fell off after they lost quality control after that point and went into that transitionary period with tepid reception of sorts, which is why I said it was more respectable at that time than it is today. (surely todays tomb raider hasnt sold as much as original tomb raider for example) Even today people wouldnt really go out and buy a xbox one just for the tomb raider sequel, which they already didnt seem to do on xbox one the first time around.

Not sure about the first week but I know it sold 3.4 million in the first month; which would have been fine except the projection they were working off of was supposedly 6 million. So basically they overspent marketing and developing it; causing the profit to be relatively low. It was a factor in the change in Square Enix leadership at the time, namely the resignation of CEO Yoichi Wada.

It's been so long since the last Tomb Raider game that the reboot was basically a new IP, and it sold really well considering that, but Square Enix expected it to sell like a well established one.

That's the real problem with this deal. Making it a timed exclusive to the platform it's last version's sales were the weakest on, that's risky. Especially since there is a good chance Uncharted: A Thief's End could land somewhere during that period. That's a fight it can't win. On PS4 the new Tomb Raider needs to come out before the new Uncharted. If it does not, it's going to be in some serious trouble.

Looks like another hacker attack struck Blizzard, LoL, and PSN last night. PSN is back up, but I dunno about the others.

Oh, the same hacker group also tweeted about a bomb threat to American Airline, causing Sony Online President's flight to be diverted.
