How can you say there are no branches? Let's compare the games.
Game 1: Carley or Doug. You pick a wifu or a dude that becomes a great friend. They both have a lot of dialogues in the following chapters even if their end is the same.
Game 2: Nick or his uncle. No matter what you pick, the same happens, you only get
one different scene. Later in the game there's another decision involving Nick, you can save him or not. If you do save him he has 4 more lines of dialogue in the next chapter, and in the one after it he dies offscreen. Marvelous.
Game 1: depending on ALL THE DECISIONS YOU DID in the game you get different people to follow you in the ¨last mission¨. All the characters have different moods towards you depending on how you behave.
Game 2: The closest thing to this is the decision at the end of the game, which changes (again) 1 scene and well, the ending. Literally no one gives a shit about your decisions. You chopped Sarita's arm? Kenny is mad. You killed the zombie? He's mad at you too! You save Sarah or let her die... does she get character development in the rest of the chapter? ofc not, she just has 3 more lines and dies at the end of it. Pathetic. Wanna try to save Luke yourself? He dies. Wanna do the smart thing and cover him? Bonnie is an idiot and in the end he dies again (you can get her killed doing this tho, which doesn't change shit but it's a great thing considering everyone hates her, props to telltale for THAT ONE). Do you the rob medicines from Arvo thinking in yourself? He says his friends you robbed him. If you don't rob him? HE DOES THE SAME THING (oh, btw, the medicines don't change anything, like the water or the coat or anything you do in the game).
Luke wouldn't had taken Jane's place, he would had discussed with Kenny for a different thing. They prolly thought it was obvious and forced Jane vs Kenny, and killed Luke in the most lazy way possible (at least make him dissapear or something, I dunno). There is no way you can say that Jane's endings have the same feeling as Kenny's btw, cause that's a lie man.
Seriously, the game is a joke compared to the first part or TWAU. In fact:
Remember that? Guess what game also has one of those at the end of the game. TWAU. TWD 2 doesn't. Why? Because your decisions don't matter. In TWAU you have choices like interrogating X character, visiting X place first, etc, which completely modifies the experience, even if it's a continuous story. TWD 2 has absolutely 0 replayability other than seeing the 5 different endings, which you can get by only playing the last 10 minutes of the game.
Why is controversy something good? Did Telltale realise the game was so dissapointing that they had to rely in something like that instead of focusing on the gameplay and the story? lol
I'm sorry, I respect your opinion and your taste if you like the game (I liked it too, I was just extremely dissapointed), but there is no way on Earth this game is on par with it's prequel or TWAU, that's a fact.
