Get Bloodborne! Game of the generation imo.I didn't ever play Dark Souls ( Maybe I will give it a go some day ) but I've played Demon's Souls and really enjoyed it and despite what I have heard the game itself isn't so hard I was only dying by falling
But Maybe it's mainly because Faith build I went makes the game easy.
It happens to have the most badass game female of all time as a DLC boss, whose Japanese voice actress is the gal who voiced Kagura. Now you know you can't resist.
This was one hell of a game and I can't recommend it enough. You'll especially appreciate it if you're well versed with the Drakengard/NieR world as there are some really smart references here and there even though the story isn't directly linked to past games.Well, I just finished Nier Automata (all the story routes), and my personal thoughts...
It's been a long time since I've had a game make me go, 'Whoah!', and this one did just that. Lots of layers to the story, plot twists which make sense, smooth and fluid combat, neat boss fight designs, and an amazing soundtrack (going to post more on that in the other thread) not just in terms of composition but how it's integrated into the game as well.
The first 'playthrough' takes you through the basic story, which in itself is quite good, but leaves you with a number of unanswered questions. Subsequent 'playthroughs' start digging deeper into the mysteries, and then you really find out what's going on behind the scenes, such that I'd really consider them different 'chapters' in the story. It's hard to really describe it without spoiling anything.
Maybe this one just hit all the right notes for me, so perhaps your mileage may vary, but this is the first game I've played through in a while that as soon as I finished it, I wanted to restart it and experience it all over again from the beginning.
But while it nails the storytelling, characters, world and atmosphere (more so when you consider the relatively small budget), I felt the hack and slash elements and gameplay in general were rather simplistic and the difficulty levels aren't well balanced out. Nevertheless, I'm glad it's commercially VERY successful, I think a spiritual sequel is pretty much a given.
Interesting fact: Automata's very existence is a miracle of sorts. Who would want to back such a project after the constant underperformance of past entries both commercially and critically? it makes no sense.. but here it is!
