This E3 didn't quite pull me in the way some years have. I did follow it but none of the announcements really wow'd me, I guess. Here are my thoughts on the high points.
EA showed pretty much what we expected except for that co-op convict game. Anthem was the big reveal but as expected it looks like Warframe/Destiny. But to be honest I'm not really itching for that. What I want from Bioware is story and characters and I didn't come away knowing whether or not to expect much of that.
Microsoft was unable to make any case for why I'd want a Xbox OneX. First of all $499 is just too expensive. Then there are the launch games. Forza looks good but I don't play racing games. Crackdown surprisingly didn't look that good visually. So it's like the PS4 Pro but more power, more expensive, and without much in the way of exclusives to show off what it can do. They may have showed a bunch of upcoming games but there was no "Fable" type game that could sell a console to me.
Bethesda was stylish but light on content. It was Wolfenstein and Evil Within 2. Wolfenstien looks great. Can't wait to play it. Evil Within looks weird. Maybe that's good. Maybe that's bad. Yet to be determined on that one.
Ubisoft had some interesting stuff. Assassin's Creed and Far Cry looked pretty similar to how they always do to me. But there are some differences I just wonder if they will be different enough to get me back into those franchises? I don't know. Mario Rabids looking like X-Com is a pleasant surprise. Not sure about Beyond Good and Evil 2 as I never played the original. Skull & Bones was probably the most appealing thing to me but only if there are Sid Meyer's Pirates elements to it. If it's just PVP like For Honor then I doubt I'll play it.
Sony had the best showing for my tastes. God of War looked good. It looked fun. Days Gone looked really good. If can hit that Last of Us/State of Decay sweet spot it could be amazing. Destiny 2 just looked like Destiny to me (Warframe is better

). Liked what I saw from Detroit and Spiderman. Spiderman looked a little QTE heavy but if that's just what the missions are like and you can still explore the open world that's going to be pretty awesome. Then there is Monster Hunter. Which I've never played but I have played Toukiden 2 and Freedom Wars, so I'm eager to check out the forefather of the genre.
Nintendo had a great showing for Nintendo fans. Which I'm actually not. Metroid game announcements. Mario Odyssey. Yoshi. Pokemon Switch announcement. It seems like if you bought a Switch and are into Nintendo stuff they had a great showing. The only bit that really appealed to me was Xenosaga 2.

What I really wanted was a Red Dead Redemption Trailer or a surprise western RPG announcement. Like a Dragon Age or Todd Howard's new game. But I guess all that will be next year.
So I guess I'd rank them...
- Sony
- Nintendo
- Bethesda
- Ubisoft
- Microsoft
- EA
