I only wish that my countrymen had had the balls to keep our counting system (and an old school English billion makes far more sense, is neater, and far more beautiful, than the currently accepted 10^9)
The old style was a billion = a million million, right? And a trillion = a million million million?

We Swedes (and possibly other European countries, idk) still have that system today.

Which obviously makes it confusing when you’re just learning English and suddenly what we call a “miljard” (a thousand million) is called a billion, and a “biljon” (a million million) is called a trillion, etc etc.

Yeah, I know [and love] the words milliard and billiard - awesome words, much better. We were winning with words like those. We aren't winning any more...

Perhaps it would be possible to go back to the old British counting system - along with our blue passports

I'd prefer the world at large to work with the metric system, just because it's convenient
I'd prefer the world switched to base 12.

Much more convenient - a far better system.

It's far more clean

1/3rd in decimal is 0.33333333333333333333333333333333 (recurring for ever)
1/3rd in duodecimal is 0.4

When convincing anyone to use it, yes
It's too late for us - we are already constrained under the ghastly and restricting yoke of the inferior decimal system...

... it's the next generation who could potentially benefit from its beautiful simplicity and power - as you could start by teaching them base 12, rather than base 10.

It won't happen, but if it did (for sequential generations), then base 10 might look just as odd to that generation as base 12 does to ours (and they'd probably wonder why us primitives didn't switch sooner).

One of those few singers who, when I listen to her, can take me out of any earthly moment and just be “in her voice” at times. The power and soul in her voice has only been paralleled by a handful throughout all of history. One of the single most important voices ever, I dare say.

Man, now I’m kinda depressed.

Easier for simple maths (multiplication and division - fractions especially) - thus easier and more intuitive for young children

Easier for working out times of the day - 12/24 hours

Nature prefers multiples of 3 [especially 6] (12 divides nicely by 3 [and 6], 10 does not)

Can be more easily counted on one hand [digits of your fingers, using thumb to point/keep track of place] - so can count to 24 on 2 hands (or up to 144 if use one hand for units and one for 12's)

To name but a few ways where it is a far better system...
