Seriously Kev, you sure you want to do this? What about your girlfriend (?) and family? Do you know for sure it'll make you happy? The easiest route isn't necessarily the best route, just remember that. You get more out of working hard than you do taking things the easy way.

It's bullshit how college is necessary for decent jobs, and even worse how expensive college is. Seriously, Drexel University feels more like a business than a place of learning, finding ways to get more money. The only consolation is that they're actually spending it for students as well, like building new housings and shit. I wouldn't mind so much if college wasn't expensive as hell, or if it was easier to get a job to pay off loans.


I confess I actually enjoyed completing my work on time so I could play WWE '13 at home.

Oh the Girlfriend, we broke up over the weekend. Apparently I am too immature for her and she isn't over her ex that was 10 years older than her and he had a child. So yeah don't even get me started on that. Because honestly it's bullshit since she is only 17 and they have never met once since he lives out of state.

Family doesn't care honestly. I know that the easiest way isn't the best way. I am prepared to bust my ass off when I go in.

Really, why are you taking this route? I know you dislike college, but coming out after you serve your minimum will afford you educational opportunities then. I ask this because I have multiple veterans and active duty family members, but do you know what you're getting yourself into?

Yes, I've talked with my Dad who is a veteran and two others who are both currently in the Air Force and Army.

Wow man, sorry to hear. Guess she's into older people. Her loss, not yours, in my opinion. At least you got out before it was too late. I'm not sure if she's actually in love with her ex like she thinks, but that's not really a discussion for us to have.


Are you sure? Have you researched everything, know what kind of things they'll make you do? Hell, I'm not sure if there's any guarantee you'll get a job after the army. Don't soldiers usually have the most trouble finding work after servin their time?

Honestly I could careless what happened with her. It just pissed me off the most when she sends me a text saying, "I know we haven't been together long, but I think you're the best for me." and the very next day pulls that shit. *Flips table*

From what he said he has already signed up a sheet of paper robbing him from the next 4 years of his life. So isn't it better to support his decision instead of trying to make him sorry he chose it in the first place?

I don't think Kdowns choice is bad. Specially if he wants to build a career inside the army.

Off course from the point of view of most people it would seem like a bad choice as most people try to run away from the military (like myself) but if you are sure about it go ahead man.

Did you read what he wrote? He said he WILL sign something not that he did. He isn't even sure of what branch he'll enlist in.

From what I read, no one was trying to make him feel "sorry". His initial wording made it sound a bit random and reckless. Maybe fueled by negative emotion, rather than logic. His later posts had the same conviction though and he seemed more sensible. No one here is going to influence him to the point of him not making his own choice. It seems like you're not giving him enough credit.

Either way it's a major life change and it just sounded sudden, that's why there were the reactions there were. I know Kevin's dad was in the army so I doubt he'd be naive about it.
