I wanna say that I feel like shit. I miss being myself. I used to be a fun, carefree person although somewhat random and excentric. I think leaving portugal was the worst thing that happened in my life lately. I left behind all my friends who liked me even though I was kinda crazy and now I'm alone.

Not only I found myself alone. People who I tried to approach said I was crazy and stuff and although they didn't hate me I wasn't able to form bonds. That kinda made me down and made me become a more quiet and reserved person and also I have become bitter towards people I don't even know for no reason.

After becoming quiet and bitter towards people I think my old personality which I loved has gone away and now I feel that I have become empty inside.

I found a girlfrined whom I felt an attraction towards but I think it has become an empty relationship with time. Just like every thing in my life.

If I don't get into uni this year I seriously don't know what to do with my future. I fell that suddenly the ground I was standing in has crumbled.

I want to find good friends again. I want to become the person I liked to be again. I want to find my path again.

Man sorry for bringing depression in after all the good posts you guys have been posting.
Don't forget us, Banana-bro.

I got to say, I relate to you somewhat. I was extremely social and energetic during High School, as well as in the army where I had over a hundred new friends where most accepted me perfectly and a lot of them were like me. Unfortunately I don't have contact with any of those great friends anymore. Those years (as well as all years since I was a kid) were really fun. But after starting uni four years ago things got more quiet. It got tougher to get to know the whole class so I found my "small group" that I sticked to, and that applies to both the unis I've gone to. I don't think my core personality has changed per se (that's almost impossible), but my behavior towards strangers has changed while my personality towards people I'm comfortable with and know remains the same. It really bums me out everytime I'm out as I keep thinking "the old Nuno would do this and that", but the new Nuno is just more boring, damn. Everytime I make a new friend I gradually change into the old Nuno in his/her presence, and it makes me realize how awesome I used to be towards everyone, not just the people I know. Unfortunately I seem to have put up certain barriers when in the presence of strangers, that require me to fake my old natural behavior or consume a great deal of alcohol. It really is dull. This does sound more depressive than it is though, I still have a lot of friends (as well as "new" friends here) and I live with my best friend that I've known for 16 years. Even so I feel like I'm a shadow of my previous self. I think I mainly just need to get in touch with some of my old and great friends again to get the whole network rolling again. Things have just kind of "slipped away" in many cases over the years. Life's been good during the uni years too, but still more "boring".

Unfortunately I'm not sure I have any great advice for you. The easiest advice seems to be that you have to "go for it" once you get into uni. That's your chance to get a whole set of new friends when you start up class and no one knows each other. Be very social, be your old self and stick to those that accept you. I'm sure there'll be a lot of them. Before that I would really prioritize your girlfriend and your relationship to find the fun in it again since you seem to miss "the spark".

I confess I think I feel the same as Nuno does. Around strangers, I'm not as outgoing but around people I know or am comfortable with, I'm pretty fun and more myself.

I think college is the root of our social problems. D:

Or perhaps it's as simple as aging and/or being unable to be your old self in a new environment?

Well I probably did, but I decided that it if it happens a third time, then I definitely should try. ^^

Btw, BB... even though my friends are still in the same city, I know what you mean. Some of them are out of the country though. But my happy self left me somewhere around the time I was 17. But I guess I just grew up and it's hard to be happy.

I confess that once again my dad made a remark about how I could've been a different person... When I was little, around 6 I think, a woman asked me if I wanted to play volleyball. But it was too early, because I was still in kidergarten, she thought I was older because of my height. She had twins who were playing who are now in the national team. There's an interview about the volleyball team on TV right now and my dad was like "we should've made you play". Never cared about what I wanted though. But parents tend to be like that.

Do you really love volleyball or it's something you just "like"?. Something like that happened to me when I was little, but worse, I'm not gonna confess it yet :blush

I've never had an interest in sports. I remember I had an idea of running, but it was just for a while. The thing I really liked was skateboarding. xD But when I tried, I hit my arm. Right now I just like riding a bike and rollerskating. But volleyball wasn't that interesting to me.

Share now, Hardy! xD

Could also be discomfort in new surroundings where things won't be as stable or safe. At least in high school, you usually had your friends from middle school entering with you. So if you failed at making new friends, you still had your old friends. Colleges may not be like that. Dunno.

The main reason why I was able to make friends in my first year despite being introverted was because others were more extroverted and made attempts to talk to me and be my friend. Some friendships I've made and people I know should be enough reason for me to start being extroverted.

Do you interact only with people in your college or area? Maybe you can expand.

I confess that sometimes the good things in life happen twice.

But if it happens a third time, I'll get his number.
Fuck the third time, homey. Do it the first time or second time, if you feel it. Don't risk the opportunity slipping out of your hands or you may regret it. GO FOR IT.

Take my word for it. I've let it go, and I've regretted it many times. Don't be that person, Adi-chan. Be the person that inspires others to be more forthcoming and less shy. Be the inspiration. Be that will of fire!

Seriously.

I know. My friday night coming home was full of regret. That's why, if it happens a third time, I would be a loser if I don't try.

But thanks, really! I'm trying.

I confess I hate it when a girl when out in public shows obvious signs of affection and even tells you so, but when you try communicating with them over the phone or Facebook, they ignore you completely.

Right?Right? Even if they like you they let you wait and reply way late, which makes you look like a dumbass because you reply immediatly.

And you then wait another 2+ hours for a response.

Totally. Sucks. Though I head they want to make themselves more interesting or something that was.

Be romantic, ... no wait, she's in college and isn't replying to you or taking a while? If she does this in purpose, it's probably a good idea to leave her, but that's my opinion.
