I see you say these things a lot on this thread. The problem with Nalu is that they have the most screen time, so if Mashima wants to make them cannon at the end of the series and not before, he can't afford to give them these massive shipping moments he does the other pairings. So what does he do? He uses the stereotypical shounen ecchi moments to give us an indicator of what he's planning, without haveing to show all his cards or make you wonder where the pairing came from when it happens. It's only now in one of the last arcs that we actually get to know what they're thinking, as shown with Lucy defending Natsu to DiMaria. After Irene showed up, it would have been a lot easier for Lucy who's also tired from fighting to carry Juvia, but she wanted to carry Natsu. Gray, Juvia and Natsu are all unconscious, but it's Natsu she's right beside. It's that very slow shift from neutral to positive that Nalu is, Mashima's laid the foundation, now he's building a house.
He can give them moments, nothing implies he can't. And whatever you say, giving us these ecchi moments doesn't mean there's any development between the two or that anything is going on. Only reason why people think this signifies anything is because they're reaching hard.

And it makes sense for Lucy to carry Natsu, doesn't mean much as they've spent tons of time with each other.

Those ecchi moments are an indication of route Mashima is planning to take. With this being a shounen, and Nalu if it's going to happen, being at the end of the manga, it's very limited to what he can do that would immediately thrust them into a different status. I wouldn't they're reaching hard, but that they take it as more of a reaffirmation of their ship.

She's spent time with the others too.

NaLu is pretty much the only ship left that's not canon yet. Gajevy and Jerza are pretty much canon and Gruvia is pretty close (it'll probably be canon the next time the two consciously interact). If Mashima is going to go down the romantic route with Natsu and Lucy (and it's more likely he will then not) then there will be massive development with it once the cat's out of the bag regarding Natsu's identity, his relationship with Zeref, and how his fate will be affected by the Dark Wizard. They've had many ecchi moments but they've also had a few heartwarming ones too. Mashima most likely wants to save it as the last ship to become canon so that's why they've been stagnating more than others. I'm predicting a lot more though once END fully awakens. They are also the most naive of all the ships if you think about it also... so both sides need a really big push before they affirm their feelings. I'm not sure about Natsu but I'm pretty sure that what's about to happen to him will be enough of a push on Lucy's side.

No, it's not an indication of anything but fan service and Natsu being a pervert. I don't get why people need to reach so far with this. Lucy going even more out of her way for Natsu and showing constant concern are indications; her crying over Natsu and being affected by his health or well-being is an indication. Ecchi is fan service. It's reaching hard.

Mashima can do a lot that can affirm the pairing. Ecchi is not one of them. He can do it throughout the series, without ecchi. Just look at Keiko and Yusuke - their relationship developed a bit throughout the series but there were rarely any ecchi moments.

Not as much time as with Natsu.

And I also don't get why you won't let people have their own opinion :-_-
I also don't get why you need to compare two entirely different series with different genres and different characters as a mean to justify what is development and what is not :-_- To you, it might be, but to others, it's not :-_-

It's called a forum, you're supposed to discuss and debate. If you don't like the idea of this, then leave. Simple as that. But I see this as admitting you don't have a counter.

It's called an example. If you consider boob touching development, then that's very weird. In any case, Natsu-Lucy isn't a canon pairing yet, it's just assumed to be canon. Feel free to prove me wrong.

Well, regardless of what anyone thinks about the ship or otherwise, I myself am hoping for some pretty big development once more about Natsu is revealed to her. She's gonna flip out once she learns how his life is tied to Zeref.

In fact, a theory that many have had and one I kind of like is that she, being an aspiring novelist herself, will re-write the Book of END and tether Natsu's life to herself instead of Zeref.
I think that'd be cool. :)

Well, let's face the facts here, most of the ships in Fairy Tail haven't been set in stone yet. So there is no point in debating/arguing which parts of the story are canonically proven or not.

When it comes to ships, it's a matter of opinion. There's no basis for debate or argument.

And I think most of you have majorly misunderstood the entire point of this thread.

This thread was not made for you to prove or disprove a ship. That was not the original purpose nor does it get you and the other person anywhere.

The point of this thread is to discuss and give your opinions of any ships or pairings that you feel like voicing. Whether it be a popular ship or crack ship, it doesn't really matter.

So I honestly don't see the point in taking everything so personally. Attacking and defending your ship isn't going to change the story. Whatever the author wants, it is going to happen.

That said, instead of blatantly complaining and trying to prove that your ship makes the most sense and is the best, accept the fact that some people differ and have personal opinions about a specific pairing.

I don't know where people got the idea that there is a correct and incorrect ship, that's not the point.

Mashima is one author and is drafting out one story, he can't accompany every single couple option, but that doesn't mean that the fans can't take a different approach on who they think has good and bad chemistry.

The fans are entitled to their own opinions, so just take it easy and be open to all relationship/pairing options and discussions. That was the original purpose and point of the thread, not to wage an all out war.....

I enjoy Evergreen and Elfman being together on panel because they can be very tsundere - Elf is dere while Ever is tsun. I'd also love to see Laxus and Mirajane because Mira can be that soft side to Laxus's rough exterior, and they can complement each other so well.

I agree that all those other things are indications. However we all know how much Mashima loves to draw ecchi moments between characters, and if it truly meant nothing we'd see it Natsu and Lucy doing random stuff with other characters and not just themselves.

I'm not familiar with that series but I did a quick search.
Those were within the first two lines of images on google images. As you said it was probably not as frequent as the stuff in FT, but did this happen between Yosuke and other characters, and Keiko and other characters? If not, then this is a little gag moment the author decided to put in as he knew he wanted them to be together.

Whether you like it or not ecchi is a part of shonen, and is still a way for the author to showcase who he wants people to end up with. There are other method's Mashima can use, but he likes to use this method, so disregarding it and belittling it means your ignoring a section of what Mashima's trying to tell you.

I do agree with the Elfman and Evergreen part. One of the best pairings in my opinion. Elfman brags about being the manliest dude in the manga while Evergreen wants nothing more than to be the guild's Fairy Queen.

Basically the couple is trying to achieve the "Manliest Dude x Most Ladylike Woman" title. And they're not doing half bad at accomplishing that, in my honest opinion.

Remember, opposites attract...

Thank you for that, in my opinion, I think ecchi is probably be one of the easiest ways for Mashima to handle these two and their relationship in those relaxing moments. Because the nature of Nalu is friendship, they are close friends and partners who likes each other's company and comfortable around each other. Natsu likes to tease Lucy as seen in the manga very early on, and he still teases her up to the recent chapters, they act a little bit like children when they're together, so to just throw in some extreme romantic speeches or hugs or kisses just wouldn't fit their characters in any way. Because of that, I think, the reason why Mashima chose ecchi is both because he's a pervert, and that he thinks it's fitting for their relationship right now.

Well, and this happened when Wendy first joined Fairy Tail:

If Mashima then was like Mashima now, he would've drawn like 4 panels of Lucy's top slowly burned into pieces with a bunch of focus on her boobs and people would call that fanservice. But the meaning behind it is still the same, they just mess around with each other and they're comfortable with it.

Plus I think that because Natsu and Lucy are main characters and have their own background, development, roles to play in the story so of course Mashima's not gonna make them all about the other. Mashima's said that he's drawing them as "more than friends, less then lovers". So all this END fiasco could be the romantic push that Nalu needs. When Natsu left Lucy a letter and went training for a year, she was really hurt and upset, thus creating a rift in their relationship. Mashima's brought it up a few times but let it slip under the rug, meaning they still need mending. And with all the events that are happening right now, Nalu's relationship might change dramatically and therefore, can show how they really feel about each other, he's just waiting for the right moment to slowly shift from "less" to "more" without damaging both Natsu and Lucy's characters, in my opinion. :blush

Forums are the epicenter of debates. Sometimes in order to have a proper discussion, debate is necessary. As I said, if you put something out there then be prepared to back yourself up, opinion or not. If I state "my opinion" on something that is factually WRONG, why shouldn't I be argued against? Vise versa, why should I just sit there and accept someone's "opinion" that's actually wrong as proven by the manga? No, I am allowed to challenge them.

If you cannot handle someone challenging you, don't visit or post in these threads. Honestly, if this thread was only people saying "I like this ship", it would be rather boring and unnecessary. A general pairing thread should be open to any topic regarding shipping, including debates that use manga evidence as support. Just as you're allowed to explain why you like a ship, you're allowed to explain why you dislike one. Likewise, people are allowed to call you out. Comparisons between ships are also natural, especially in a series like Fairy Tail with many options.

I'm growing tired of Hiro's constant Zervis reminders. Now they have a kid somehow? Ooookay then.

What exactly do you mean by constant reminders? They haven't been that frequent and the pairing was introduced this arc, so obviously some sort of emphasis will be placed on it... especially since there seems to be some more mystery behind it.

And how is that different from Juvia constantly reminding us that she's in loooove with Gray, even when he's not even around.

Twitter pics and Tumblr jokes don't really count either.

ships are cancer.

they just ruin all characters(ahem Jellal). Hiro should just make one OVA where everyone broke up and that's it. just move along.

It's all over the arc, and yes on twitter too. It does count. A kid now? Why is this necessary? That's probably my main annoyance.

Juvia's love for Gray, while genuine, is also a running gag since the beginning. Luckily, she has remained serious throughout Alveraz. Zervis came out of left field later on in the series, despite Hiro saying he "planned" it for a long time.

I guessing there is more to it than we know at this point so we'll see what happens.

A few twitter pics here and there don't matter. The stuff he posts on Twitter is just doodles he drew at his leisure. He doesn't just do it for Zervis though, you know.

Yes, I agree. As it stands currently, I find Larcade unnecessary. Zeref and Mavis could have resolved their issues and the war could have ended without his existence. Or Hiro could have created another spriggan with similar magic to Larcade, without him being related to Zervis.

They count as official art. They are still reminders of whatever ship he draws. He tends to draw Zervis quite a bit.

which is another reason why I support Laxus and Mira. They're the opposite of each other as well, until Mira becomes a demon.

I'd also love to see Natsu and Lisanna get another shot, they were quite cute together.

My problem with Zervis is that I appreciated the few moments in FT Zero but not the ones in Alvarez, if those are even ship scenes lmao

I mean, I get their cursed love, Zeref's part etc... but seriously, most of his badass scenes have been ruined by the "sweetness" towards Mavis. For example, when Irene had to scold him while extracting Fairy Heart... or when he told Invel to shop ffs he is the leader of an empire he had been building for 100 years and more, not to mention one of the (supposed) great antagonists and what he has done this arc is nothing compared to Irene's leadership.

Mavis was far better on this when she mentioned to the whole guild her story and will to go against his former lover.

Zeref is in between, and a main antagonist shouldn't act like that for me.

Getting back on topic, Zervis will be fine for me if they end up dying after winning over the Ankhseram curse, finally gaining the peace they never had due to it. Like Hohenheim from FMA, kinda, lived long enough and when everything is settled bye.

Just my thoughts tho :^_^

Not sure about Larcade's role in this but I remember Mashima saying on Twitter that there are many more secrets about Zervis to be revealed, this is going to be fun lol
