Laxus is a badass and Mira is a badass. They are the top 2 supporting cast so why not put them together? His tough guy persona is balanced put by her sweet motherly persona. He's a scary guy on the outside and a big teddy on the inside while Mira is carebear on the outside and has demonic personality on the inside. Not to mention they're both hot so that's a bonus.

Mira and Laxus have complementary personalities, and I think they'd work well together. I really can't see either with someone else tbh. If Hiro gave them some more screen time together I believe they'd be one of the top 3 couples in the manga. But even with only subtle hints that they have a thing for each other it is still such a popular couple among fans.

Also did I mention they both soloed an S12? The only two to not get assistance once in a match against an S12, and both were at a disadvantage (Laxus with his disease, and Mira due to magical exhaustion). How awesome is that?

They'd probably have the dopest kid in the guild! Laxus' golden eyes and Mira's silver hair with the power to control demons as well lightning magic maybe even red lightning. I'm getting ahead myself (little bit fanfic territory) with the kid talk but these two character are my favorite characters (excluding NaLu) so I'd be thoroughly happy if they get together, and I hope they have an on panel moment of it. I only wish Hiro gave them some more screen time but I'm happy with subtle development. Miraxus since day one and I'll go down to deepest parts of the ocean for this ship.

"My imagination" is a funny way of saying "pages 2 and 3 of chapter 532". :)

I'm guessing Dragon Cry is what allowed Acnologia to steal the dragon souls. It probably controls the souls of dragons or something, and the Stella Kingdom wants to use it to revive a dragon.
It's just a couple of fs of couples or it just reflects the love of family and friendship, or you're going to tell me ¿¡that Gildarts and Cana are couple!?.

Fanservice couples being described as true love. I am going to tell you Zeref and Mavis, Gajeel and Levy, Gray and Juvia, Elfman and Evergreen, Jellal and Erza , and Natsu and Lucy are couples. Gildarts and Cana are obviously the exception, referring to the love between parent and child. :)

The cover depicted different facets of love. Cana/Gildartz is family while Wendy/Chelia is sisterly/best friends. The rest are romantic, with Mira/Laxus being the only odd one since it doesn't have much support... except the author's words I guess. He did say he thinks they are good together in a recent volume (guild art section)

I bet that Laxus voice actor promoted this idea for Mashima cuz in his interview he said his wish is to get more screen time with Mira. In fact Milaxus was the most popular crack ship i've ever seen and i also saw it coming however i always get this feeling that Freed and Laxus have some secret relation, Remember this line "I want you to wash every part in my body" i was like

Also MiLaxus parallel Jerza and i think they would make a great family friends.

Nalu is my alpha and omega but i support all the major pairings as well. I actually envy some ships like "Gajevy" because they're the most developed and pretty much safe in every way you look at it despite that they have little fans compared to the whole fandom, Mashima played his cards right.
Gajevy isn't all that developed. It was mostly off panel. It got a few major moments and because it's not plot relevant and non-confrontational for the most part, it was easy for Mashima to do. We don't even know when Gajeel fell for Levy.

I'm not saying it's a bad pairing. It's just off paneled for the most part. It went from 0 to 30 to 100 real fast. Too quickly for me.

this shows why Juvia-Gray is the best pairing in the manga. They work together, and well together. PLus, actual development too.

I have to agree there. Gruvia is the main ship you really see the progression from the beginning.

Enemies -> allies -> guildmates -> comrades/friends -> lovers

And it isn't off paneled.

Gruvia is a good pairing. I hope Gruvia is the best pairing in the manga. It came with the killing of Juvia as an individual character. Which is why I personally am annoyed with Mashima over it. She hasn't done anything without Gray being involved since fighting festival/tower of heaven.

Jellal and Erza could have been the best ship. Mashima just developed it too much/too fast early on with OS/ToH and their childhood history together...... then did nothing with it. Except some moments in Gmg. He takes it for granted that we "know" they love each other without giving their relationship proper build up.

I like that Juvia is getting more to do in the movie.

Just wish Mashima would have married Elf/Ever like he did Bisca and Alzacks since he's not going to develop them any more.

While I would have liked Juvia to shine more independently, I understand what Mashima is doing. We need to remember that Juvia is a secondary character. She has also met her goals already (rain taken away, accepted into Fairy Tail, protected and continues to protect her friends), with the exception of being with Gray romantically. That's all that's left, hence why Mashima has given us a lot of Gruvia. Juvia's development outside of Gray is finished, so being with him is all that's left for her. There's nothing wrong with wanting to settle down with the person you love. It's only natural.

Juvia symbolizes love in this manga. Not physical/magic power. That's her message.

I'd like a scene where Juvia slaps Gray, where she goes against him or voices some sort of disagreement.

Who knows, during the Boruto epilogue of this series she'll have switched from being full on obsessed with Gray to being fairly mature and loving with him and being overly lovey-dovey with their cute Gruvia son holy hell my headcanons.

She can still develop out of Gray and have her own character though. What happened was that her development got reversed to the point that instead of being her own person like she was, she's all about Gray now. I could be wrong, but that's honestly all I remember. There's something wrong with being obsessed and focused on one person only, and that's not healthy at all. Although the pairing is still the best out of all the pairings, it's still kind of unhealthy.

I think the abusive relationship between Joker and Harley Quinn is what the relationship could end up if Gray decided to become evil, but unless Gray goes too far Juvia wouldn't leave him. While Juvia is a secondary character, she can still have her own personality and be her own person without needing to be associated with Gray too much.

What I said still applies to your response. Also, this is a fictional world. A lot of things wouldn't be considered healthy by real life standards and that is because this is a FANTASY manga. That being said, here's some insight on Juvia and why her goal of being with Gray is perfectly okay:

I would never condone Harley Quinn and Joker. How could you make such a gross and wrong comparison despite it being hypothetical? That's not who Gray and Juvia are. Fairy Tail really is not that dark of a series.

Violence isn't needed to get the point across. Juvia isn't the type of woman to hit the person she loves. She's loyal and forgiving.

Did you even read my post or did you just skim and add in words of your own?

And it doesn't matter, this is fictional as you said. Juvia can and should have her own character, like she did. There is no need for her character to get reverse development, which is what happened.

I think it's the opposite and it's you who didn't read my post. Or didn't understand at least. Juvia does still have her own character, she has relationships outside of Gray, and her once fangirl crush gradually turned into genuine love. So genuine that she was willing to give it up at the end of the Tartaros arc, and tried to sacrifice her life. Juvia's love for Gray has saved her, him, and others in the manga. You don't have to like it, but Mashima is using her for the message of love. What it comes down to is Japanese vs. Western culture and ideals. That's where people misunderstand Juvia's character and purpose.

No, as you're the one who accused me of saying you compared the relationship to Joker and Harley Quinn, when I never did. Probably didn't understand it though. But what character does Juvia have? While she has her relationships outside of Gray, we don't see that as much as we see her focused on Gray. At least, I remember her being far too Gray centric the last arc or so. I don't know if it's my memory due to not caring as much about this manga/arc, or if it's reality, though.

I don't care about him using her as a message of love. I still want her to have her own character. She can be Juvia whose dreams and reason for living aren't just focused on Gray, and even for others as well like Natsu, Lucy, and Erza.

What I said: "I would never condone Harley Quinn and Joker. How could you make such a gross and wrong comparison despite it being hypothetical? That's not who Gray and Juvia are. Fairy Tail really is not that dark of a series."

My point was it should not have even been mentioned at all.

Again, we AREN'T going to see those relationships explored because she is a secondary character, and the main focus for Juvia is Gruvia because that is her goal that's left. All other goals have been accomplished and she's already showcased her power. I've already explained and stated this in my first response to you! Of course she isn't living just for Gray, that's a point of her fight with Meredy. She lives for everyone she loves.

Juvia is her own person. Regardless of your opinion (Mashima's say > your say), she isn't some robot with nothing attached to her except Gray. I've already said what I needed to say and I'm still repeating myself: Japanese vs. Western ideals. This is a Japanese manga. To answer your question "what character does Juvia have", here are some excellent posts:

You've said a few times in this thread you find Gruvia to be the best ship (which I agree with), yet you can be very contradictory in this claim.

In this arc Juvia got a unison raid with Meredy. After that she had her moment with Gray. She didn't have anything else to do, but the big scenes she had 1) with a friend and 2) with Gray. So no, she wasn't completely Gray centric in this arc.
--- Double Post Merged, , Original Post Date: ---
Actually I want to add this last thing since I forgot yesterday.

Juvia has been Gray-focused since she met him, and yet still managed to develop other relationships and have big moments with other characters. I repeat, she's been Gray-focused since the beginning but that never stopped her from being a badass. Take that into consideration.
That's the shtick with her character. But that's not everything about her character.

I still think it's weird how you say Gruvia is the best ship but then take issue with Juvia herself. It's because she's like that, that Gruvia are able to have developed the way they did.

I'm glad I was right in saying she had good character development throughout the series until the last arc or so. Wasn't sure if my memory was correct or not. But nonetheless, one can say Juvia-Gray is the best pairing while criticizing Juvia's character (or latest character) as being far too Gray-centric, which actually did help make the pairing better. the things she did, like beating the enemy that revived Gray's dad and sacrificing herself for Gray for his mental sake are what make the pairing great. However, what does she have this arc? She made Meredy feel better and showed she was willing to sacrifice herself rather than fight her comrades, but what about this arc?

Being a secondary character shouldn't hamper her from having a great character or character development. She was getting good character development throughout the series, and we saw how awesome she could be.

(I forgot what she did last arc <_<)
