I already summed up this arc in my last response to you:

In this arc Juvia got a unison raid with Meredy. After that she had her moment with Gray. She didn't have anything else to do, but the big scenes she had 1) with a friend and 2) with Gray. So no, she wasn't completely Gray centric in this arc.
She saved Gray's life in this arc. That's huge. As I said before, her love for him has saved lives time and time again. I'm going to reiterate... again... Juvia has been Gray-focused since she met him, and yet still managed to develop other relationships and have big moments with other characters. She's been Gray-focused since the beginning but that never stopped her from being a badass.

Moving on, lets appreciate how the manga destroys all the anti arguments against Gruvia

Why do i love Nalu so much?! i really don't understand myself, I mean i never shipped something so hard in my life. Their moments bring warmth to my heart and makes me happy. I think i'm under a spell that makes me addicted to Nalu, I really don't know..there's something special i see in those two...different from when they're with others..but if it's just those 2 i would get instantly excited..just weird and awesome.:noworry Although Natsu and Lucy are very dense when it comes to romance, I still love Nalu with passion. I know it'll take forever for them to reach that point like really late in the manga, but I can't help but cheer them on throughout the show!

There goes my #1000 post in MH forums.

However, what does Juvia have this arc?
I know we are past this but I was too lazy to open my computer to write a decent reply, but there it is because this is just wrong.

First of all, Juvia isn't a main character.
She comes second, and the only one in a same position as her is Gajeel. So can we please stop pretending the plot must revolve around her? That's what you are all doing but hey, flash news: this manga is about Natsu and maybe Lucy and Team Natsu. Not even Gray got that much of spotlight in Alvarez to be honest. But as I said. I'd like to compare Juvia with someone who is in the same boat as her, because it's just... fair.

What has done Gajeel this arc? Did you see any brotp moments? I didn't. Reactions to others that aren't Levy and maybe Lily? I didn't. Gajeel revolved around Levy only, he has literally done nothing except chapters 487/488.
Can I give proofs for this? Oh yeah, I can.

About Juvia:

"Juvia cared only about Gray"

- in the first half, she was paired up with Gray in the south where they met Lyon, and then Meredy. Look ay Juvia's reaction:

Oh man, she's so happy because she saw her (best) friend after so much time!
- they fought as ot4 for a while until Neinheart's historia showed up.
- unison raid with Meredy + hugs bewteen the two
This is very telling, because Juvia has done 3 unison raids in the whole manga and she's basically the only one being in part of them, multiple times. (Lucy/Gray/Meredy. You cannot even argue she did it with Gray only lol.)
- after that, she showed so much concern when they couldn't find Wendy and Carla:
- she was so happy to meet up with Lucy/Happy/Natsu again:

Oh yeah this is definitely a Gray-centric girl, woah. She literally cared only for him in Alvarez, despite the proofs ^^

After that...
- she was with Team Natsu minus Wendy till chapter 499, aka the Gruvia's masterpiece chapter of the arc.
- she said many times she was ready to fight, after seeing the thousands of alvarez soldiers surrounding the guild:

Juvia has been really focused on the current war, in fact she's been serious most of the time. And note that I didn't even include the little fights with Wahl's fodders, when she was badass as well (losing her clothes).

I think I've given enough proofs. Stop making assumptions about Juvia. As a secondary main character, she did what she had to do. Yes, she didn't fight, but since the argument is the same old "Juvia is so Gray-centric, doesn't care about the rest" here it ist why she's not ;) and the fact she was always with the main team tells everything.

Complain about Juvia's role in the manga but don't forget about what the others got. And this isn't my way to highlight Juvia in spite of Gajeel, because I like him too. You just have to be fair, because it's obvious characers like Lucy, Erza and Wendy will always have more spotlight, relevance and (brotp) moments than her. She ain't the focus. Juvia did really good in Alvarez.

to be on topic, here's my Gruvia + parallels edit.

It's so romantic. They truly love each other.

Gotta agree with @M3J here, Juvia's character is just too centered on Gray and it really annoys me at times. This really brings down the Gruvia pairing for me personally, as it doesn't seem like a relationship between two individual characters and more like "Gray and Gray's fangirl".

I know we are past this but I was too lazy to open my computer to write a decent reply, but there it is because this is just wrong.

Gajeel may not have done much this arc but that fact is offset by all the development that he's received throughout the rest of the series. IMO the same can't be said for Juvia.

You list all these things as if any of them disprove the claim that Juvia is Gray-centric. Literally every single important Juvia moment this arc had to do with Gray. Everything else was no different than what any other generic Fairy Tail member would have done. As for Meredy, their relationship is cute for sure but it really doesn't add anything to Juvia as a character. And guess how Juvia and Meredy even ended up becoming friends in the first place? (Hint: It was because of Gray).

Complain about Juvia's role in the manga but don't forget about what the others got. And this isn't my way to highlight Juvia in spite of Gajeel, because I like him too. You don't need to have the spotlight in order to have a decently fleshed out character. Gajeel has had great development from villain to protagonist throughout the entire series despite him not being one of the main cast. What has Juvia had? What is there about Juvia besides Gray that distinguishes her from any other Fairy Tail member? Until we get some development from her that isn't predicated entirely on her obsession with Gray, Gruvia just isn't going to be one of my favorite pairings.

Of course, this is all just my humble opinion, so Gruvia fans pls dont murder me :emocat

Gruvia is arguably the most developed pairing in the series. It isn't majorly off paneled (Gajevy) and isn't static (Nalu, they have a strong bond but lack actual romantic development so hopefully the next chapters will help). There is no way it's just "Gray and Gray's fangirl". They were given one of, if not the most powerful scenes of the series in this very arc.

I had hopes for the film, but it seems that the relationship between Natsu and Lucy hold onto the status of nakama.

Well methinks it begun as "gray and gray's fangirl" but it's changed and progressed a lot since then (like you've said) while i'd say it's not the most developed pairing it's quite up there particularly with how juvia has impacted gray and all that stuff

Well it's expected I myself wasn't expecting anything mUchiha from a few cute moments. If anything from what I've read it's like the last movie with natsu thinking of lucy as possibly more than a friend.

Pairings won't progress in a movie. It's a fun original story. Just cute moments and fanservice.

Nothing changes between the ships. The manga is for that.

On panel we see the development: Enemies > allies > guild mates > nakama/friends > lovers

How? Ichiruki never really had a chance anyways ichihime was the obvious pairing.
Nalu doesn't have any opposition the only thing stopping the pairing from moving from more than friends less than lovers to actual lovers is themselves and mashima too I guess.

As always people twist what I write and miss the whole point of my essays.

Get lost in your own assumptions then. I was talking about Alvarez since that was the complaint, but it doesn't matter :)

I gave proofs unlike you.

Gajeel and Juvia are not the same. Gajeel is a secondary character with barely any connection to any of the main characters, while Juvia is Gray's romantic love interest, and Gray is pretty close to a main character, if not a main character. And I don't care about other secondary characters as much as I care about Juvia, or at least the reverse development doesn't make as much sense to me. Gajeel to my recollection did not have reverse development, and he did develop quite a bit throughout the series. Juvia did as well, but the last arc not so much. Gajeel did.

But was I only talking about her fights? I was under the impression I was talking about her character.

And I did also state that my memory when it comes to FT is rocky at best.

Minus the bold, I agree with this. Which is why I'm always befuddled whenever people put Natsu-Lucy above Gray-Juvia or claim they had some sort of development. They're far more natural than Natsu-Lucy or its ridiculous fan service moments

Ooohh bwahahahahahha, I would put it second or third besides from maybe Mavis/Zeref and Erza/Jellal (although the latter is a whole another ballpark)
