I think Natsu's mind is just hard to read lol. He thought Happy was the strongest when Wolfen tried to read his mind. He had to actively think of Zeref for Wolfen to actually pluck out someone strong. And this is about strength, so imagine how hard it is to get an accurate reading on Natsu's love interest.

Welp, the links lead to mangapark, which is the only place I know has official scans of the entire volumes with QnAs. I don't know where else to find it.

I’ll be disappointed and I’ll try to get into the manga and I’ll tell natsu you’re not interested in her I’ll take her mdr. Seriously, I’ll be disappointed because I think they’re more together than the others.

Extremely disappointed, because it would be the best example of romance that should not be done. We don't tease a couple for 545 chapters and more, for 15 years and more so that in the end, no they don't end together. If mashima didn't want to put them together anymore, there was plenty of solution for that.

I'd also be extremely disappointed, because it's been teased to Hell and back for so long, between the original series, the sequel, and of course the doodles Mashima's been doing. Thing is, I think he knows how popular the pairing is at this point, which is why I think is why he's teasing it as much as he his. It's also weird how of all the "major" pairings (Nalu, Gruvia, Jerza, Gajevy), NaLu is the only one that remains unresolved. Gajevy was resolved all the way back in the original series; Jerza was made canon, albeit in a somewhat unorthodox way; Gruvia is semi-canon, with Gray declaring his desire to get with Juvia, but haven't actually done it yet. NaLu is the only one that remains up in the air.

Mashima said in an interview that he didn't settle on one pairing for Natsu because he thought "whatever I do, they are going to hit me", referring to ultimately favoring Lucy or Lisanna. I don't think that perspective is necessarily true, because I'm fairly certain if he went with Lucy, people would mostly accept it, and Lisanna shippers would stew, but accept it; that said, if he had gone with Lisanna then people would "hit him". That said, he then also added “Personally, I think Lisanna is a nice girl, and it would be a shame to see her with a guy like Natsu. I feel that the Natsu and Lucy ship is more suitable.” Then, of course, there's an account that when a fan at a con in Germany asked him about the ship, he said that he wants it to happen (but if someone wants to provide evidence to refute that, I'm all ears).

I'm going to hope for the pairing becoming canon. I'm fairly certain at this point that Lucy does actually have feelings towards Natsu, but the problem is Natsu's too dense to pick up on them, and in the (probable) event he has feelings for Lucy, he's too dense to act on them. For all my problems with the most recent chapter, it does provide an opportunity for NaLu. Granted, I'm still don't want to get my hopes up for if it's actually going to happen, since Mashima seems reluctant to do much substantial with them. I don't know if it's because he's still worried he'll get a negative reaction to doing it, but I'm fairly certain that's not the case; in all likelihood, doing nothing and leaving it hanging (even after all the teasing and set up) would probably just lead fans to get angrier at him than anything else. One thing I really hope will come of the next chapter, is that we'll finally get some real development for Natsu and Lucy's relationship; this is a perfect chance.

Less likely to remain just friends because technically they aren’t, Natsu telling Lucy they will be together forever is a line that is considered romantic in Japanese culture and is said to your GF/BF not just a friend, with that said, even if there aren’t any major changes in advancing their relationship to the next level on screen, It won’t change that they will be forever together, whether we see it or not, They will eventually get there, The question should be, will you be disappointed if nalu didn’t happen on screen, I’d say yes.

Looking back at Chapter 74, we didn't get the development a lot of people were hoping for, but we did get some serious teasing. It does seem though, that Natsu did have trouble hurting her, and he seemed to see this as just another FT brawl, until he realized this really wasn't Lucy (figuratively speaking), and he needs to take this seriously.

I wasn't heavy emotional stuff until Natsu faces Selene anyways. Generally speaking, I'm only expecting the big serious stuff with Natsu and Lucy to happen when Natsu starts losing control of his powers. Until then, expect a bunch of fanservice.

That's a good point, though I can see some light teasing being done after Lucy is turned back to normal, with an exchange like this:
- Natsu: Hey Luce!
* Lucy looks over as Natsu pats her on the head with a smile
- Natsu: I'm glad your back to normal.
- Lucy: (smiles) Yeah, me too.
But yeah, it makes sense that there wasn't much real development until later in the story. Of course, I can totally see the two finally getting together towards the very end (that's more or less what happened with Haru and Elie).
