Was she really ever that important of a character?.So Merascylla is officially dead. Disappointing to say the least.
She probably wasn't. Still, I would have liked to see more. But apparently her only schtick really was ressurection and soul manipulation and Nakaba probably thought of her as disposable because she was mostly driving the Ban and Elaine storyline for a while and there is already a Commandment with a death-related decree, so maybe the future will focus more on Graylord. Was she really ever that important of a character?.
Yup that was her only purpose really and to keep Elaine alive. Galan and Merascylla we're both expendable from the start. She probably wasn't. Still, I would have liked to see more. But they could've been developed more as characters. Mind you, this is critizising Nakaba on a pretty high level at least with Galan since he got plenty of attention and was basically the archetype Commandment/villain of the first half of this major arc. He started out as an unstoppable force without being cringefully pretentiously evil like so many others of his category. The guy was a nasty piece of shit but he was a fun piece of shit all the while. His golf antics. The drunken escapades at Escanor's bar. Not to mention his old man grumpy mood swings coming from his wounded pride. I really want to know what he was like during his prime. Nakaba really could've gone there and showed more.Yup that was her only purpose really and to keep Elaine alive. Galan and Merascylla we're both expendable from the start.
Granted they are interesting characters but Nakaba never gave them the chance to develop. Maybe it's just a shounen thing but Galan and Mera never felt like they'd be around for long anyway. Galan was the first commandment to make his move and to show off his power so it was inevitable that he was going to get killed off first. I still have hope that the remaining commandments will get some backstory and development because now is the best time. But they could've been developed more as characters. Same for Mera.
But it is perhaps asking too much to completely and thoroughly develop all ten Commandments to that extend, that would take a huge amount of time and we haven't even had full characterizations on the Sins yet. Merlin and Escanor have had virtually zero development invested into them. Or at least we are still in the single-digit percentages.
I actually think that Galan was pretty well developed. Merascylla? Not so much. Galan had personality, goals, and a chance to show off. Merascylla's sole role in this series was to indirectly move side plots, first with Hendy and the three misfits, and then with Ban and Elaine. She herself, did nothing to prove her worth as a Commandment, nor show why they were a threat to the world at large, unlike Galan.Granted they are interesting characters but Nakaba never gave them the chance to develop. She was completely wasted. She had the ability to bring souls back to life, yet, instead of using them to power up her comrades quicker, she brought souls back to life to...cause chaos for some reason. Ignoring that point, you'd think something like that would be pretty big. Strong ass zombies coming back to life and wrecking havoc upon Britannia? We should've seen the Sins having to fight their way through them to get to the damn maze because that was a lot of damn spirits Merascylla brought to life, but nope, once Elaine was shown, that zombie shit was done and over with. Then there was the fact that we never really were told what her magic nor what her power level was.
This is a nitpick but speaking of power level, it's been made pretty clear that the Commandments were on another level on all aspects. Despite physicality clearly not being her strong point, I'd expect a demon of her caliber to still strong enough to not have her neck broken by someone whose power entire power level is in the 3000s, even with his power of love power up. I mean, it can't be that everything else about her is greater than or equal to 260,000, yet her physical power is less than, what, 1000? That's just weird.
Seems like a cop out to me I mean aren't these guys suppose to be basically the opposite of the Sins(not in context to the information in the manga but just in a symbolic way) so basically it's like they introduced new members of the Sins and have them die and be completely useless. It's not that hard to develop 10 villains or even give them all cool seperate motivations.Granted they are interesting characters but Nakaba never gave them the chance to develop. Really? they never felt like that at all. From what has been shown most of the commandments already have their own motivations and personalities. They just haven't been given enough screen time or the chance to develop. What happened with Galan and Mera was a cop out and i agree. This ark isn't going to end any time soon and there is plenty of time for the commandments to get a decent about of backstory at least.Seems like a cop out to me I mean aren't these guys suppose to be basically the opposite of the Sins(not in context to the information in the manga but just in a symbolic way) so basically it's like they introduced new members of the Sins and have them die and be completely useless. Looks like some designs were slightly altered. Originally Monspiet had a middle length cload barely beyond his wais, now it is a full one going down to his feat (probably to conceal his rapier? He still has his rapier, right? I hope so.)Just going to ask if anyone noticed doesn't estarossa seem more muscular now to the first time we saw him or is just that he took off that shirt he wore. But I think the reason why nobody was like oh shit ban died is because they know he can come back from something like that but if fire from the demon clan can scar him for life being turned into chunks of meat or even blood should have major repercussion to his character in some way like his healing is slowed down exponentially or something else to that equal.
Is it just his cloak that is concealing it?. Monspiet hasn't been shown with it since the 10C's first appeared.Looks like some designs were slightly altered. Estarossa became buffer and shirtless, Dolor looks less emaciated and bigger, etc.
Where else would he have it? I don't think he actually discarded or lost it and there is no reason to sell it. Unless you are implying the longer cloak IS the rapier, as in a shapeshift weapon. That would be an interesting thing. Is it just his cloak that is concealing it?. Monspiet hasn't been shown with it since the 10C's first appeared.
I meant that Nakaba removed it from his design.Where else would he have it? I don't think he actually discarded or lost it and there is no reason to sell it. Unless you are implying the longer cloak IS the rapier, as in a shapeshift weapon. That would be an interesting thing.
Oh, that last sentence is truly interesting - Graylord the immeasurable power level dude. Thanks to Roadagain on NF for linking this there:

Especialyl the last sentence in the bottom box is very interesting since it most likely refers to Gray Lord.
They also use spells related to death. And we know Gray Lord's decree is "Thou shalt not kill". Very curious.
Must be him.So Gray Lord then?.
I wonder what about him makes it unmeasurable though?Oh, that last sentence is truly interesting - Graylord the immeasurable power level dude.
I think we knew the rest of the information, so the ending is what's worthy of discussion.
