Re: Tokyo Ghoul by Ishida Sui

I think the prequel start was not exactly what I would call as boring, it was a normal pace although admittedly the story did not progress into something bigger until Chapter 50 or so. So far none of the characters stick to me as someone who's memorable but then again this is still only the beginning. I never liked Juuzo so I don't know how you feel but I love Akira so perhaps I could understand your sentiment somewhat. I guess this manga is really good at presenting that both sides have their good and bad sides, and perhaps the sequel is going to be told mainly from CCG's perspective instead of Ghouls.
Of course, I am a manga hipster so I have read the manga before they got popular recentlyNot sure if you've been following Tokyo Ghoul since the beginning, but the original manga started pretty slow as well. It always had an interesting premise and good characters, but it took Ishida around 20-30 chapters to get the ball rolling. Considering there's less worldbuilding to do this time, it might be a bit faster, but I'm pretty sure he wants to establish the new characters for now, just like what he did in the original Tokyo Ghoul. Nothing wrong with that, it's exactly why I started to care for almost every character in the series. Never thought I could actually like Juuzo, and yet I started to care for him towards the end too. I have faith that Ishida knows what he's doing.
