Amon...I was so focused on Kaneki I forgot him.

He might be a Ghoul now but I am not sure nobody would have noticed for 3 years, at least Akira knew nothing about Kaneki, but Amon? There are his others colleagues too.

Maybe he is with his father? There is Suzuya too, he might be a First Class Investigator.

Tokyo Ghoul Sequel (New characters!)

So... Tokyo Ghoul got a sequel, for those who don't know.

Here

Anyway plot picks up alittle after the original and we get introduced to a squad of new chars and

Spoiler(s)
They are part ghoul... or more accurate to say, they have ghoul weapons embedded in them. I find it interesting how the character design of the squad leader mirrors Kaneki's. When Mado and him were talking in the cafe she noted that Arima felt 'fatherly' duties towards Sasaki. End of the last manga, Arima was in charge of naming 'something' that was created from Kaneki. Arima doesn't have any known love interests so it's very possible that it actually is his kid (lol). But he's probably a mentor to this new character, who I'm betting, has something to do with Kaneki after his death. The CGC probably used Kaneki to create the squad of one eyed ghouls. Or in a more radical theory, Sasaki is basically Kaneki with some genetic edits (Leaving the possiblity of him 'reawakening' to who he was before).

Just a few of the theories i read in the comment section and liked, and also what is your first impression of the series? Looking forward to it? Or would you rather it started from the ending of the last series instead of a random jump + new cast?

bruh it's kaneku bruuuuuh

end of tg was masterful and i truly see no other way to continue the tale of that universe in any other way than making a seemingly random jump in time. and chars.
aaand i love akira and arima and i'm so so sooo happy we'll get to see a lot (as it seems) of those wondrous baes in this series.

and i'm actually one of the people who don't want haise to retrieve his memories as kaneki - just look how happy the babu is. stay this way, precious dearie

Re: Tokyo Ghoul by Ishida Sui

Just read Re. Funny thing the name "Haise" has been hinted since the last chapter of TG, thought it was the name of a Quinque or something.

So seemingly we can speculate that Kaneki's memory was being.. altered somehow, and now he works for CCG. I am not sure if I'd like this direction, considering that the first chapter does not show anything impressive plot-wise, although it seems pretty unreasonable for me to expect that it would start with a bang.

I really hope Amon still alive; in TG he's one of my three favorite characters, it seems wasteful if Ishida just wrote him off from the story like that. Perhaps a reunion between him and Mado also one of many moments that I'm looking forward to in future chapters.

Ignorance is bliss huh.

The problem is that the others can't ignore this, he will be inevitably confronted to them sooner and later, he can't live a new life so easily. But if Arima kills them all that's a different story.

Re: Tokyo Ghoul by Ishida Sui

Honestly if Haise(Sasaki) is Kaneki, he did suffer brain damage in the fight vs Arima, not hard to believe that he'd forget everything or could be 'persuaded' to. And when he and Touka eventually met up (or anyone that would recognize him by 'scent' *assuming he is part Kaneki*) it will be quite interesting to say the least.

And i understand what you mean by he just seems 'happier' but i mean... this is TG, where the good guy gets tortured into a mass murderer and then gets prompt shut down by the most OP human entity alive. He's almost definitely gonna remember his past if he is Kaneki. And he'll probably become conflicted all over again, does he tear away from the group to go regain his proper status? Or does he keep up with his fake/indoctrinated happiness? Regardless it'll be more than fun to see what plays out. Can't wait for the next chapter.

Re: Tokyo Ghoul by Ishida Sui

Yeah honestly the first chapter is too straightforward for a manga like Tokyo Ghoul. I doubt this sense of "ordinary life at CCG" would last until later chapters. That's why I felt that the first chapter is slightly underwhelming, but that's not because of the author's fault, more like I was expecting too much from the first chapter.

Also, regardless of the fact that we have JACK as a spin-off, I'd love to see more Arima... he's so powerful yet we know next to nothing about him.

That would be sweet because it looks like it will be Haise first major fight.
He will find torso beat him then Serpent will show up.
I have a feeling that Ito is Hide. They both comment on there names sounding like a last name and he did the pop behind his back thing to him.

Re: Tokyo Ghoul by Ishida Sui

So, Quinckes can eat normal food because their RC level is not too high, it means Sasaki can't...

Torso and Serpent are probably from the first part, I think Serpent is Amon too and Torso is Banjou. Chie Hori was an informant of Tsukiyama.

Is Kanemoto supposed t be the new Takizawa? :XD

Re: Tokyo Ghoul by Ishida Sui

If Sasaki is not Kaneki i don't even know. Did anyone see how he froze up when the phrase "Bon appetite" was said? Tell me, that's not inner Kanaki remembering the Gourmet?

But Serpent being Amon is definetly possible. The way the last series ended makes me think they took the Ghoul samples from Yoshimura (Anteiku cafe owner) and 'recreated' Kaneki (Aka just made another half ghoul) and Here he is. Amon + Yoshimura Kakuja = Serpent?

Yoshimura has been saved by Eto, right? It's unlikely that he is with Amon, or even teamed up with him. Assuming Amon is alive and Serpent, he acts alone.

Re: Tokyo Ghoul by Ishida Sui

Finally catched up with the manga, damn what an ending >____< Kaneki, Yoshimura, Amon, Shinohara.... all the great and likeable characters getting butchered D: I almost cried together with Akira in the last chapter, that was so touching.

In any case, I guess the first three might be alive in some way. Not sure how I feel about Kaneki, but his ending was so tragic. Kind of don't want to see him dead after all the shit he went through, and ofc for Touka's and Hide's sake too. It feels kind of a bit too farfetched, but too many things point at Haise being Kaneki.

If Sasaki is not Kaneki i don't even know. Did anyone see how he froze up when the phrase "Bon appetite" was said? Tell me, that's not inner Kanaki remembering the Gourmet?
That's one sign, yeah. Others would be that Akira mentions Arima feeling "parental love" for Haise. Well Haise questions if he has such a thing afterwards, but obviously the two have a connection. He's even lending him books, which would fit Kaneki's character again.

Maybe the big thing to look out for is what Hide told Touka in their last meeting. Putting his left hand on his chin when he's hiding something:

I've been closely looking for that in the two chapters so far, but I didn't see that move until now.

Not sure if you've been following Tokyo Ghoul since the beginning, but the original manga started pretty slow as well. It always had an interesting premise and good characters, but it took Ishida around 20-30 chapters to get the ball rolling. Considering there's less worldbuilding to do this time, it might be a bit faster, but I'm pretty sure he wants to establish the new characters for now, just like what he did in the original Tokyo Ghoul. Nothing wrong with that, it's exactly why I started to care for almost every character in the series. Never thought I could actually like Juuzo, and yet I started to care for him towards the end too. I have faith that Ishida knows what he's doing.

Re: Tokyo Ghoul by Ishida Sui

i can see that the the new team will be hunted down because they can't control their Ghoul transformation there's already 2 people that looks like becoming a ghoul

i think that Sasaki is Kaneki's human side (low Rc Cells ) and Kaneki will be his Ghoul side (high Rc Cells) but because the ratio of the Rc Cells are low to prevent Sasaki to become a Ghoul Kaneki(Ghoul) is not showing i think that if Sasaki's Rc Cells is higher his hair will become full white :D
