The main reason Inoue ended Slam Dunk is that he thought it'll be impossible to create an arc more exciting than Sannou arc . He said it in Top Runner - a Japanese talk show. I highly doubt Tadatoshi Fujimaki will create some more exciting that he already has shown. The way he developed the story works very well in the short term but in the long term is harmful IMO. However KnB is a big success, so is hard to believe that author has courage to end the manga like Inoue did.
Thats the main flaw of Slam Dunk and the reason why it had such a terrible ending. How does one end a series in such a manner even. I pray Haikyuu!! and Kurobas wont suffer such a fate.

I agree and I'm waiting for "Slam Dunk 2" a day...I can dream, right? :hee

It will be a good ending if Seirin win the last game, then I don't see problem with Fujimaki ending KnB now - besides losing a big hit of course.

One Piece = Favorite Manga! The one I most enjoy reading in a weekly schedule.
Assassination Classroom = Amazingly funny, even when the translation removes fun of a lot of the puns.
Naruto = Guilty Pleasure, can't read a chapter without finding dozens of problems, but given the previous love to the series and the desire to end the title, I continue to read it every week.
Kuroko no Basket = Average. It has his good points, but it has is bad points. The one that I hate more is the omnipresent talking. Is more annoying than the HxH ant arc constant narrative.
Toriko = Great. I wouldn't say I love it, but I would say that is almost there. Let's see if Gourmet world will be able to make me love it.
Shokugeki no Soma = Everything is amazing, but I have a major gripe with the title. The cooking school setting is not well used. They don't learn nothing in it! So school or other thing would be basically the same.
Haikyuu! = My favorite sport manga and anime right now. Is getting close, even though it still needs a way to go, to achieve the levels of enjoyment of Slam Dunk.
Nisekoi = It was great in the beginning, lost interest for a while now, but still liking it. Giving a rest for 10 chapters to read everything in a bulk.
PSI Kusuo Sainan = The translations took so long that lost a little of the beginning excitement, but still really funny.
World Trigger = Liking a lot, but I can't say I'm really hooked on it. If it was to get cancelled right now, I wouldn't be that sad. Hoping it keeps increasing in quality and entertainment value for me.
Isobe = Don't read. When will somebody translate this?
Soul Catcher = Average. I hope it get better and better, because the premise and the powers of the main character are cool. One gripe though, the author missed a huge opportunity by giving an instant power-up to the main character that enables him to express his commands without speaking. He should show him learning that gradually, given that is one of the biggest tasks of the the conductor and is certainly not a trivial one, but it was treated as that.
Gintama = I have to be honest, My way of reading this title is a real mess. I already read 40-50 chapters of the beginning, but because I couldn't wait at the same time I was reading the beginning I jumped to the last chapters. Later I stopped reading the beginning, and now I'm waiting for 10 new chapters to read in a bulk. Surprisingly I understand basically everything of it(something here and there I don't). I like it, Sometimes the Jokes are Mega funny, sometimes they are just OK. I plan to read everything from the beginning when I learn Japanese(skill planned for the future).
Bleach = Like Naruto is a guilty pleasure, but this one I hate the all structure that Kubo uses. Is not only minimalist, but it centers in simple actions without any impact and a lot of close-ups that don't have any impact either, making a really dragged pacing. Slam Dunk last chapters had a lot of close-ups, but each one of them gave me goosebumps, bleach just don't have any emotional impact. Ah, the characterization of a war in Bleach is the worse that I ever seen!
Kochikame = Mega Loved the anime. Now reading the first chapters translated and I'm liking it a lot, but the translations aren't the best.
Illegal Rare = It didn't gave me a big impact. Waiting to see where it goes.
IShoujo = Really liked the first chapter. Hope there are translations of more chapters soon.
Stealth Symphony = It really got me hooked. I'm loving every new chapter that comes. Hope that it is able to stay in the magazine longer, but it seems only a miracle will save it. I'm praying.
Tokyo Wonder Boys = Didn't read. Can someone translate at least the first chapter? I want to know what is the story and how well/badly is told.

Kochikame = Not interested, but deserves respect.
One Piece = Godly. Love it. After the timeskip had some boring chapters, but I still love it. Dressrossa is being very good.
Naruto = Well, I have a emotional point here. I really hate how Kishimoto stretches his manga, but... I can't stop reading. Btw, I can say I like it very much.
Bleach = I liked the final (because all we know that Bleach ends in volume 48).
Gintama = It's very, very, very funny and with a charism. But, IMO, anime > manga.
Toriko = Injusticed. But I can understand why some people have a prejudgment with this series.
Kuroko no Basket = Really enjoyable. Really a good entertainment. It's better if you don't compare to Slam Dunk.
Nisekoi = Cliche, but a funny romcom, but where's Double Arts?
Haikyuu = Best sports manga in Jump since Eyeshield.
Saiki Kusuo no PSInan = Not interested...
Assassination Classroom = A little bit overrated, but still very good.
Shokugeki no Soma = Delicious. Tosh is a genious.
World Trigger = Plan to read. One day.
Soul Catcher(S) = Plan to read. One year.
Isobe Isobee Monogatari = Not interested.
Illegal Rare = I don't read newbies mangas since my disappointment with Bulge.
iShoujo = I don't read newbies mangas since my disappointment with Bulge.
Stealth Symphony = I don't read newbies mangas since my disappointment with Bulge.
Tokyo Wonder Boys = I don't re- wait, it's a soccer manga in Jump. We already know what will happen.

I really didn't cared if he could create a more exciting game than that of Sannou. All the other previous games were great, if he could keep with his average quality I would love to read it.
Damn, Inoue! He is my favorite mangaka(only ahead of Eichiro Oda, because he has more awesome works and one finished), just today I shed so many Mainly tears(literally!) reading the last volume of REAL(volume 13), but how much I wanted for a continuation of Slam Dunk. Damn, the objective of winning the nationals was manly of Akagi and Megane-kun. There was still a lot to show of Sakuragi, Rukawa, Mitsue and Miagi.

He still has to make the International Generation of Miracles, that is super duper more awesome and bishie than the one of Japan. Probably he will make them go to an international junior tournament where they will represent Japan and they will find real genius from America to Spain. :P

Do you know spanish? You can read the first chapter (ES) here:
I thought an average first chapter, but I loved the art :^_^
Thanks, I understand 97% of it. I just can't be able to speak because the Portuguese words get always in the way. Someday I have to learn it, it shouldn't be hard.

The whole point of Kuroko no Basket is to defeat the miracles going past that would ruin the series imo

Slam Dunk is its matches, if Inoue felt that he couldn't do something better than the last match, there was no reason to continue the series, it only would frustrate him and the readers. He was honest and I deeply respect him for this. It was a great ending and I don't expect or want a continuation.

Hahaha I thought about this possibility too. And man, it's a ridiculous idea in the KnB world. Well, it can't be worse than Shin Prince of Tennis, right? :cheez

Yeah...I hope author remembers that.

I'm obviously joking! But no, the objective is for Kuroko to show to others, mainly his previous teammates(the generation of miracles), that The Basketball which Kuroko Plays is the right way, the best way of playing. Getting once more together with the generation of miracles, but this time instead of playing how they played before if they play with teamwork, sportsmanship and respect for the adversary will only improve the series and not ruin it. Well, it will not ruin if the author knows how to do it.

Remember when the whole point of Eyeshield 21 was to win the Christmas Bowl?
Though you are right in that sense, since the World Tournament was something of a mess.

That's the problem. I don't see Fujimaki with capacity to expand the world of Kuroko. The options are very limited due to way he developed the story IMO.

I agree with all of the guys defending Inoue, I felt the way he ended Slam Dunk was great. Not perfect, but great, since I'd personally want Shohoku to win :P, but I guess Slam Dunk had a semi-good ending since every character seemed satisfied with their accomplishments? Besides, Inoue's reason to end Slam Dunk was legit, so I applaud him. If he ever wants to write Slam Dunk: The Sequel, I'd scream like a fan girl.

And Slam Dunk was and is still a bigger phenomenon than Kuroko was, is and ever will be (I don't know about the financial department though, since Kuroko = Manga sales + Anime discs + Merchandise while Slam has like 100+ million manga sales). And look at what Inoue did, so I think there is still a chance that Kuroko's author will end Kuroko after Seirin beats the captain dude. But of course, there isn't any concrete confirmation if Kuroko's author next series will be as big or at least financially well as Kuroko, unlike Inoue whose success was due to his skills in art and story telling, but Kurokor's author will have himself a good reputation, so that might help with his next series should he decide to end Kuroko while it is still good and not milk it. (REAL's latest volume was awesome!!! I don't think it is the last though.)

--------------------------------------------------------------------

And to continue the trend...

1. One Piece = What can I say... One Piece is One Piece. (Infinite/Infinite)

2. Gintama = 3rd personal favorite series, behind One Piece and Kingdom. (10/10)

3. Shokugeki No Soma = It's been a really long time since I've come across something like Soma. I've always liked the food-gasm thingy since watching Yakitake-Japan!!! when I was little :P. (9/10)

4. Hunter x Hunter = Nen. That is all. I have to say. Hiatus/Hiatus (lol jokes. 9/10, due to laziness and some children slaying in the Chimera Ant arc. That was almost unbearable :( )

5. Assassination Classroom = I learnt some cool stealth stuff from this, boutta try and jump someone lol. And it's unique to boot. (8/10)

6. Haikyuu! = I prefer Volleyball to most sports. And dat Adrenaline pump. (7/10)

* iShojo = Probably in between Kuroko and HQ. Really liked chapter 1. Hoping it survives :(

7. Kuroko no Basuke = It was nice up until the current arc which is filled with, in my opinion, more bullshit than before. I really liked Seirin verse Too though really wished that match was the finals instead. (6/10)

8. Toriko = A friend introduced it to me. Dislike the art. Read it anyways since I was bored. Eh. (6/10)

9. Naruto = Only read it to see how it ends. Nostalgia of part 1, which was batshit insanely good. (5/10)

10. Nisekoi = Started from the top now we're here. Started from the top now my whole team effing here. (5/10)

11 Bleach = Lol, same reason as Naruto. Never understood why anyone would like Aizen. (4/10)

12. Illegal rare = Lol at people calling this dark just because of the color tone. Let me introduce you to Hunter x Hunter. Eh. (4/10)

13. Stealth Symphony = OMG!!! OMG!!! Masterful storytelling!! Best main character evah!!! So well-developed, so well-designed!!! World too detailed!!!! Team SS!!!! ..... (1/10)

(The rest I haven't read, I'd like to try some of them though, especially PSI-nan)

Because I'm a good person I will extent my post and say what I think of the current line up.
Ooh! I'll do this as well.
AssClass- Good. Nothing amazing, but just a good manga.
7/10
Bleach- The epitome of style over substance. The writing is pretty god-awful, but it's fun to read.
5/10
Gintama- Very good. A bit too wordy at times though.
8/10
Haikyuu- Meh. The art is very unique, but the manga itself is as generic as a sports manga can get. Everything about it has been done before and done better.
5/10
Hunter x Hunter- One of the best series to ever run in Weekly Shonen Jump. Period.
9/10
iShoujo- Funny. Has a lot of potential so I hope it improves in ranking.
7/10
Illegal Rare- Has a lot of potential. Really enjoy the comedy of the series, and it has a really nice atmosphere as well.
7/10
Isobe Isobe- From the chapters I read, it's okay. I'm not good enough with moon-runes to probably really appreciate it though.
6/10
Kochikame- Haven't ever read it.
N/A
Kuroko no Basuke- Bad
4/10
Naruto- Horrible. Started off as an edgy poorly written ripoff of HxH, and then just became a pretentious and unbelievably
poorly written trainwreck. I like the art though.
3/10
Nisekoi- Generic to a fault. Also repetitive.
4/10
One Piece- Great. However, I feel the series has lost some of it's luster since the time-skip.
8/10
Saiki Kusuo no Sainan- Really really funny.
7/10
Shokugeki no Soma- Fun read. Nothing that special though.
7/10
Soul Catcher(S)- Mediocre manga with bad stiff art.
4/10
Stealth Symphony- Generic to a fault. Terrible pacing as well.
4/10
Tokyo Wonder Boys- Haven't checked it out yet. Probably won't due to how much of a bomb it is.
N/A
Toriko- Fun read with really great atmosphere. Nothing that special though.
7/10
World Trigger- Not bad, but not quite good either. Just average.
5/10

Didn't we have this same conversation with you several months ago and literally everybody on here disagreed with you?

Ok, i love this kind of stuff

One Piece: I enjoy the series overall, but it has never been one of my favorites, even so i can recognize how good it is 9/10
Hunter x Hunter: I love the style, the characters, the story and the backgrounds, but saddly enough togashi is the author so his special circumstances have made it really frustrating to follow 9.50/10
Naruto: I still read is, as everyone. I don't consider it as bad as people say, but i'm sad kishimoto didn't use it's full potencial 6/10
Bleach: bleach ended in volume 48 7/10
Gintama: One of the best mangas ever created, but i feel that from chapter 350 or so, it has become repetitive... 8/10
Kuroko no Basket: As much as i love bishies it's been the same since the second part 5/10
Nisekoi: I don't like harem mangas, but i know it's well done 7/10
Haikyuu!!: A sports manga, interesting enough to stay in jump, you have to accept that 7/10
Saiki Kusuo no PSI Nan: I have only read the few translated chapters but it has been hilarious, considering that it's still going stron i really look foward to the newer chapters 8/10
Assassination Classroom: I have always had a soft spot for masui and shotas, so i can't be fair 9/10
Shokugeki no Soma: Somehow it's the manga with the currents best battles in the whole magazine 7/10
World Trigger: Not my type 5/10
Soul Catcher(S): Come on, it's not that bad, i actually enjoyed the first chapters 6/10
Illegal Rare: Expected more from shibashi... 4/10
Stealth Symphony: Love the art, but i still can't understand how the author of durarara can write something so boring 4/10
Tokyo Wonder Boys: n/a
Kochikame: n/a
Toriko: n/a
iShoujo: n/a
Isobe Isobee Monogatari: n/a

Just curious since it's been said a few times, but what do people mean when they say Gintama would be better if it were more like Sket Dance? I think both series compliment(ed) each other quite well. Due to Sket's nature it couldn't do things Gintama could, and Gintama can't do some things Sket can. I'll admit too that Sket was/is a little bit better with character development, but Gintama's characters are far more interesting. IMO. It's sorta like...Sket does good things with what it has character wise, while Gintama characters have more potential and Sorachi's done some pretty impressive things with them. That being said, I guess Sket being a school series means it's easier to get into than Gintama...but I'm curious as to what others think.

I'd do the listing thing but I don't really read jump...here's what I do read.

One piece: 7/10. Dressrosa has gotten much better in the last few weeks, and I'm sure OP will be glorious again someday but right now? Ehhhhh.
Gintama: 10/10. It lost some of it's luster in the last year but lately it's been amazingly funny. The last 10 chapters have made me laugh as much as it makes me want to murder Sorachi which is saying something.
Assasination Classroom: 8/10. I haven't been keeping up lately, but it's more me than the series itself. I still enjoy it quite a bit though.
ishoujo: 10/10. The fact that it got me someone who vehemently hates romance manga to read past chapter one means it must have something special. If only it ran in another magazine...
HXH: 9/10. Great, but not perfect. Togashi jumping genres is fun but leads to problems of comprehension sometimes...especially with the long hiatuses.

When I said last volume of REAL I was trying to say the latest. My bad :P

I love the end of Slam Dunk, don't get me wrong. It just that if the only reason for ending like that, was because he couldn't do a better game than that one(that for me is the best game ever made in manga) than, I, has a super fanboy of Slam Dunk, would want to read more, a lot more. The other teams in the competition were great too, and there was also Kainan. He even could show a game/games of Kainan against other team and I would still love to read it.
And I would like to see Rukawa in the Japan Team, and I would like to see Sakuragi returning into the team after the rehab, and seeing him improve even more. In the end I just wanted more Slam Dunk.

I will do this thing.

Hunter x Hunter - 10/10 (Best Jump manga IMO.)
One Piece - 10/10 (Close second/third if you count Jojo.)
Assassination Classroom - 10/10 (I <3 Matsui.)
Shokugeki no Soma - 9.5/10 (I'm a little concerned that it's starting to show its limitations but right now I'm enjoying the hell out of it.)
Toriko - 9/10 (I sometimes tune in and out of it but at its best it's pretty spectacular.)
Saiki Kusuo no PSI Nan: 8/10 (Really liked what I read. Hope to see more soon.)
World Trigger: 7.5/10 (Sometimes has trouble keeping my interest but it's grown on me a lot over time and I really like the world it developed.)
Soul Catcher(S) - 7.5/10 (Arcs have been kinda hit-or-miss but I'm really fond of it. Glad it stuck around as long as it did.)
Gintama - 7.5/10 (I don't follow it closely but I've always liked it well enough)
Stealth Symphony - 7.5/10 (I really want this to succeed but it probably won't :( )
Haikyuu!! - 7/10 (Pretty good sports manga. Always a fan of Furudate's art.)
Kochikame - 7/10 (Not something I'm ever going to follow but it's fun in a quaint/goofy sort of way)
Illegal Rare - 6/10 (Alright, but doesn't especially interest me.)
Kuroko no Basket - 6/10 (Never been a fan, though it seems like it's gotten more interesting over time. May give it another chance.)
Bleach - 5/10 (My enjoyment entirely depends on which characters are involved at any given time. Unfortunately it's usually the boring ones.)
Nisekoi - 4/10 (Not the worst thing ever but not my kinda thing either. Good art though.)
Naruto - 2/10 (Sooooooooooooooooooo bad.)
iShoujo: 1/10 (Probably the antithesis to everything I like lol.)
Tokyo Wonder Boys - Compete nonentity to me.
Isobe Isobee Monogatari - Complete nonentity to me.
