The point of an anime isn't to make a series more popular, it's for the animation company to make their own product and sell it. If the only thing an anime does is sell more copies of the manga, then the anime is considered a failure. I don't get why everyone thinks publishers "give" series anime to promote them, it's the animation company that has to offer to animate it.
Couple of things though; studios rarely get any revenue from anime adaptations unless they're on the top of the committee list what money the anime makes goes to the distributor more often than not the studio has already been compensated before the anime even airs and if an anime outright bombs but increase sales of the source of material than only the publisher gets any real profit from the venue which is always the goal for the adaptation. Toei and Sunrise are exceptions to the rule since they own and distribute their anime through their own labels (Toei Animation and Bandai Visual respectively), A-1 was created by Aniplex so they could have their own studio to distribute their titles, everyone else is pretty much contract work hence why a series such as Girls Und Panzer can make so much money yet the studio that animates it Actas can still be in the red because they get nothing from its success because they're at the bottom of the committee list.

My point entirely... Anime exist (majority) to promote the media where the series originated.

I guess we can all go home now. We simply can't compete with Jaymes's knowledge and his insider connections with Shueisha

toc isn't an indicator on a manga's real popularity?

ok

then why is he saying Bleach was axed? it's because it was always in the bottom and series that's in the bottom get axed no?

either you believe it or not, you can't have it both way

inb4 conspiracy theory on how jump doesn't want bleach and faking it rankings and sales to justify axing it because reasons

he actually used that argument when bleach which ended wasn't among the running manga section in jump festa

"he must have f***ed someone's wife hahahaha"

I was thinking if Kubo returned to the magazine in the future that would shut him up forever

but then I figured he will just say something retarded "they are so desperate they begged Kubo to return and save their doomed magazine"

if Kubo returned and got the axe in 12 weeks however that would be a glorious sight

So all this time we were wrong? Why do we even discuss TOC, then, it's irrelevant and we don't know how the system works :(
What makes you so sure he knows how it works himself? The TOC, as far as from what I've seen here that most people believe, doesn't always reflect the ranks a series may have gotten, however the TOC is generally viewed as gauge on how well it's doing in terms of marketability for the magazine: Some of the ones with a possible better market value to the magazine will generally be further up front, those with a lesser market value to the magazine will go further back, and titles that are unranked/oneshotes/gags(<- gags seem to be the genre that are probably the most stable in terms of marketing and readers rankings) are used as buffers to space out the series in the magazine.

He's a believer of this because he can't let go of the fact Bleach went off a cliff in terms of popularity after the time skip and was the ultimate reason for it's demise at the end. Personally I think that he should be happy that it's volume sales where as high as they where which allowed it to last as long as it did when it hit rock bottom the way it did

The problem with Jaymes is that he has no rationality. Anything he says in relation to WSJ is always motivated by defending Bleach. I'm sure he would deny this, but it's obvious. He just can't let it go.

I was hyped bigly for this serialization round, but it has been a disappointment so far. Haven't read Dr. Stone yet. Jump editors can't play around like this anymore, time unleash the big hitters; Zippo, Golem Hearts,Out Gear Full Color, Kempa Trick, Akage Achou, Kei Mori. New tactics, new game plan, let's make some money.

Glad I'm not the only one. I was hoping for a hot-blooded battle shonen from Dr. Stone, but the first chapter doesn't seem like it will go that route. Study-koi is a romance, Poro is a gag manga, Hungry Marie is a gag (action?) manga. U19 seems like it's going to be an action manga, but it doesn't look like it will last long. None of the series so far have gotten me hyped or excited to read the next chapter because of a dramatic cliffhanger or an intense battle if wits and strength. I have _some_ hope given Fujimaki's previous exaggerated serializations, but it's a golf manga (one of the most boring, layback major sports), so my hopes aren't that high.

Is that Twitter guy y'all keep posting like a manga blogger or something? Just someone whose opinion on manga people like to hear? Maybe I'm old, but I've missed the context entirely.
