Yeah it does seem like a low expectation sort of thing. Oh well, any good promotion for Kimetsu is fine by me. I'm excited to hear the PV with voice acting.

Great that we're getting a second PV for Kimetsu. The first one wasn't that great IMO.

Volume 7 is doing well on Amazon reviews last time I checked. This time I think volume 7 will pass the 100k mark before dropping out of the rankings. Then when volume 8 has my boy Rengoku on the cover, it will hit the 130k mark.

That's my prediction :^_^:hip

The latest arc is Kimetsu has been very promising. It may end up being the best arc yet.

More than 24 hours without any post here? Everybody got sick or something? XD
Well, now that we have a lack of subject we can talk about the series with coming anniversary: The Promised Neverland.
In the past year it was certainly the most accomplished new series in Jump. What are your thoughts about what happened and what comes next? Sure, it is better to keep the conversation in the commercial field, but a bit of story doesn't harm... Maybe... :derp

Neverland's success is the strangest thing.
  • Gruesome plot
  • Dialogue heavy
  • Female protagonist
  • Vague genre / no fights or formula
Yet it sales have grown to 10 times what it was at the start.
At first, I thought it was the Assassination Classroom void but that doesn't really fit now does it?

After reading Neverland's newest chapters i lost most of my interest. You can basically predict the ending of it now:
There is no happy end. The kids dream of escaping to the human side of their world, but then what. Why should the humans risk a new war by giving these children refuge? Peace lasted for over 1000 years between humans and demons, why risk it's destruction for a bunch of children nobody has any connection to? The humans don't care about the children on the demon's side, otherwise they would have liberated all of them long ago. For the humans the children aren't even humans, they are just cattle and property of the demons. When the children somehow make it to the human side all that awaits them would be a one-way ticket back to their plantation.
And what about all the other children on the other, lesser quality plantations who can't even talk? Who wants to free and take care of thousands if not millions of near braindead creatures who can't do anything on their own?
Their best bet is to live with Sung-Joo in the underground.

Taking into account the curveballs the series has thrown us so far, I highly doubt it's just going to go down that way. This is now the main plot while the orphanage was just the prologue, surely Shirai had a better idea for it. I reckon it'll somehow go in a direction no one predicted.

Maybe I'm being too optimistic, but I'd like to trust in them considering what they've shown us so far.

My thoughts on Neverland: good story, great cast of characters (Norman, Emma my favorites) but for me the plot twists are what makes it entertaining. Somewhere after that happened it began to become boring and tedious to me and then from you guys' comments I've seen the plot twists haven't been occurring as often. All these factors caused me to not read it in a minute. Hope it does well for the fans though, I'd watch an anime whenever one comes along even if I agree with Sharkbait's skepticism on it.

I thought it was something separate...
Anyway, too many covers to choose the favorite ones, but I think the three cover streak for Strong World movie could be at the top.
I start to remember all the covers from 2011~2012 onwards for obvious reasons, my life with Jump started with Nisekoi. :P
From 2011 onwards it is easier to know the favorites: I like the colors of 18/2013 issue and 46/2013 is cool as hell.

Now here's Nakano pretty much confirming what we all suspected:

http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/dai...runs-made-up-by-rising-digital-demand/.119830

This means that all Jump series volume sales could potentially be much higher, and especially for MHA and Haikyuu. Now if only they would share the goddamn sales figures.
"He noted that the total sales of the magazine including both print and digital are only increasing"
The problem I have with this statement is a lack of a reference date. The magazine has been increasing since when and in comparison to what number?

MHA should sell around 500k digital. I think the manga is already bigger than Naruto.

My speculation is that the digital sales for shounen jump series makes up at least 2/5 that could be added on top of the current sales that we have. I have no way to prove this, but to me it makes a little sense that the digital sales are on a slightly smaller portion of the physical numbers we have.

I couldn't really get into TPN, so my knowledge if just from what I've heard about the series, but I always assumed that once they escaped the "orphanage" the writer wouldn't really know where to go from there it seems like my speculation was at least a little accurate. From the way it sounds from what others have said the kids want to be free in the human world they don't know where to go to find it(it's not like they can ask the demons for directions) even if they do find the human world what will they do once their there they have no money, no friends, and no where to live. Though if by some chance the no money/friends/place to live doesn't matter is the story going to have a rescue/war arc to end the series on not that appealing if you ask me since this series isn't a battle series.

It only makes sense that the digital numbers for Jump would be quite high. I would never buy digital volumes, but if I was in Japan I would absolutely buy the magazine digitally. It's just that kind of medium, and the magazines themselves are a pain to keep anyway.

Well, having a series based on the twist is not really sustainable.I can understand it not being as interesting because the series has gone from a battle of wits to survival, but the series still has plenty of interesting routes it can go.

Where does the criticism come from when it comes to digital volumes? Is it because they're cheaper and more accessible than physical? Cause I definitely bought some digital MHA and FT volumes.... Kindle is so easy to access lol.

Digital volumes don't have that good feeling that physical volumes do. It's more satisfying to read physical since it feels more genuine. I would pay for physical volumes because I can only get that experience from physical volumes. Why pay $5 or so for something I can get for free with less hassle?

It's a thing of preference. The collection aspect is just as big a part of it as reading them. If I'm going to spend money, I want it to be on something with a lasting effect (like seeing it on my shelf everyday), not just a one-off spend 1 hour reading and forget it exists forever. I actually buy a lot of volumes I never read because it is indeed way more convenient to read digitally.
