If the pacing was faster, they wouldn't be able to end where they did. The pacing was good, there wasn't much they could do, My Hero Academia early chapters, despite good, are not great, they would have to cram a lot of chapter in 3 episodes to theoretically make it interesting and it would fail because it would be too crammed. However, I agree that the first 1~3 episodes (or chapters in mangas) are the most important ones to decide whether something will be a huge success or not. Many people, including me, use the rule of the 3 chapters for almost any manga read...
Therefore, in the end, the problem is in the original work.... My Hero Academia was not meant to be a huge success since the beginning. I think 600k is already good for it.
1~3 first episodes are the most important ones and yet people think My Hero Academia will achieve success in the 13th episode (12 episodes from the season 1 + 1).
The first season is done guys. MHA got a good boost but we, the fans, expected a bigger boost.
If they do the 2nd season, they SHOULD end it with the climax of
All Might vs AFO
That fight and everything that led to that fight including all the battles before was MHA at it's best.
If they do that, it will get a lot more people into the manga.

Agreed. It would be the perfect way to attract more viewers by showing every hype arc and ending at that climax. Unfortunately they would need 3 cours to reach there with the pacing they used for S1 (ends at 95-ish and they've already covered up to 22), which is an odd and unlikely number. There's no doubt it would be in the series best interest, however.
I think the main problem with MHA's anime was the pacing, as simple as that. There are two very important episodes for any anime, and these are episode 1 and 3. If done well, a first episode is enough to get most people hooked (or to start a boom, like Shingeki), and if that doesn't work, for example because the source material starts slow, then episode 3 is very often the deciding factor. Quite a few directors have stated this in the past, episode 3 is your last chance to hook a huge number of people. A big chunk will simply drop the show if they don't like it after watching three episodes. That's just how much anime are produced each year and season, besides hardcore fans not many people have the time to follow even a quarter of the shows from each season.
This is such a sketchy subject because they're a lot of shows past and present that prove this otherwise hell the most recent breakout hit Yuri On Ice didn't start getting major traction until the 7th episode.. A lot of shows will have prejudice before airing and most people will already have their eye on a show regardless of how it turns out hence why so much shit wind up being top sellers based on brand name alone (Love Live, Uta Prince, Gundam) rather than quality of the product. Me personally I thought MHA did better than expected considering most battle shounen adaptations don't do well on DVD/BD since the focus is moreso on boosting the numbers on the manga and merchandise sales hence why HxH a show that flopped on DVD/BD got two movies and a plethora of merchandise because it did well everywhere else. Will definitely be interesting to see how things will fare for it this time on a new slot and covering what many consider the portion of the manga where things get really good since I know a lot of people enjoyed the first season despite it not getting to that portion.
Can't really say if there's anyone really to blame really. By all accounts the show did fine but it depends on what exactly their expectations were it did seem they were being more so caution with it compared to previous adaptations but it premiered at a bad time given that its slot was doing poorly and was stuffed with shows that year but it did give a good boost to the manga which is what counts the most.
Personally I don't see any other way chapter 1 could have been adapted. I have no idea how I would speed it up into 22 minutes. They adapted the whole chapter without taking anything out or adding much, and the episodes themselves didn't feel slow paced.
My only suggestion would been making it an hour special but they obviously couldn't have done that

Not gonna happen. Promotion materials so far show only up to Stain. If they were going to go as far as that there would've been hints here and there, wouldn't it? The way I see it, we're getting a 24-episode cour covering Sports Festival-Stain and ends on ch. 59. If we're going to see that it won't be till next year if they do follow up with season 3. I will honestly be surprised if they do Sports Festival-Stain in 13 episodes and another 13 or so episodes going all the way up to the end of Volume 11.
Also, can't believe I'm saying this but, I do hope season 2 attracts more fujoshis because, well..... Todoroki. His backstory should hopefully attract a whole load of them to give the manga another boost up to 800k and then followed by another boost going up to hopefully a million this time thanks to season 3 going all the way up to that fight and ends on volume 11.
Ending after Stain would too short for 2 cour, that's only 38 chapters. Even the slow placed s1 averages out to just under 2 chapters per ep when you count the extra pages the first 2 chapters have.
Chances are they'll either rush a bit in one cour ending right after Stain (perhaps responding to the slow pacing complaints that s1 got), or it'll be 2 cour and go up to ch 69/70 ending with the mall encounter (going at 2 chapters per ep the whole time).
Chapter 69 is just as good of a stopping point as 59, so I wouldn't mind that. Plus it means they're able to jump directly into the Training Camp arc in the next season.
Speaking of that chapter, I hope they animate this face...
better than this face.
The impact of the second image was lost in the anime due to the lack of detail in the art.
Naruto 1st episode was in no way rushed. I also don't agree, though will no further discuss, about it being poorly animated and edited.
The first HxH TV anime in fact did adapt the entire first chapter, only changing the Gon leaving into the Ship at the main port, to a boat out of the village.
The Remake 1 episode adapted the 2 first chapters!

They would just need to adapt the entirety of the 1st chapter in the 1st episode. And if they thought it would really need more episodes, they should have done a special 1st episode with the length of 2 episodes. Is not the first time that such a thing is done. Fate/Zero and Re:Zero did it.

They added a lot! You think My Hero Academia 1st chapter had that much content for 2 episodes? It didn't. Go watch the anime 1st episode and look at how they extended basically most scenes.
For example the 1st scene of all, where Izuku as a kid defends another kid and gets beaten. It is 1 page in the manga(1 page with almost nothing in it), but in the anime it took basically 1 minute. And this one is a rather mild case in the entire episode.
While those extensions aren't by nature bad decisions, and in many cases improve the scenes. It certainly there were many ways to adapt the 1st chapter into the 1st episode. It would even be possible to adapt the 2 first chapters into the 1st episode. HxH(2011) and Toriko did just that.

Yep, and not only that. And by doing so it adapted the 2 first chapters into 1 episode.
I don't think they added 24 minutes worth of things.
And the scene of Deku's childhood was a well done scene. As well as the introduction fight with Mt.Ladt and Kamui Woods. I couldn't see how else they'd be done

I'm not sure how you measure that "major traction" but Yuri on Ice was plenty popular early on. Lots of fanarts on pixiv since the beginning, a damn lot of praise since (and for) episode 1 and basically everywhere I went the show was one of the hot topics. The rest you mention are all based on a famous franchise, that they automatically sell well comes as no surprise, just like everything in the Monogatari Series is going to sell like hotcakes.
Not denying that there are exceptions ofc, I already mentioned that, but for a completely new series attracting a huge crowd early on is the goal and usually the road to success if it works, a series getting massively popular later on is a way less common thing.
No idea what their expectations were but that does not really matter, every company wants to wring as much money as possible out of whatever they publish. Hence I doubt they were completely satisfied. The show did fine, but like most others I believe there was more potential, and to some extent it was wasted.
Why? They aren't going to announce the cast all at once. They didn't even announce the villain's VAs until like a week before they appeared in season 1.
I don't think they added 24 minutes worth of things.

Being well done scenes doesn't mean it can't be done other way. The fact is that they spent a lot of time with the scenes, and that others have spent less time in similar scenes.
Example, How much different in terms of content did the 1st chapter of MHA had in comparison with Naruto, Bleach, One Piece and Hunter x Hunter 1st chapter? They all have around the same content, and both Naruto, One Piece and HxH(1999) were able to adapt the 1st chapter in 1 episode. There is no reason to believe MHA is a different case.

Its traction was nowhere near as big as it was until episode 7, before it was doing the same as any other fujobait show before it like Free and you can even see the jump in preorders after the 7th episode. It was probably always going to do good but no one expected it to do THAT well.

There's a plethora of series that proves this isn't the case one of the most recently ongoing examples is Jojo which gained a huge boost in popularity thanks to the anime and of course there's Hunter X Hunter which got a huge boost in popularity due to the 2011 anime. Of course you can always make the argument that these series were always popular negating the fact that they weren't getting nearly as much traction as they are now but that's another argument entirely.

So by that logic we can expect every company to want every series to be the next One Piece, I'm pretty sure Shuiesha has much more realistic expectations than whatever is being mouthed off here and given that they're only really going to profit off manga sales versus anime discs (Toho) and merchandise (Takara Tomy) we pretty much are just making guessing based on nothing.
