I'm getting old.
As a teenager I'd have drooled bc of this, but now I'm just thinking;
"You could've save the colors to draw something interesting, you know,"

Here's a very well put together professionally made compilation of snippets of the main character from the BOZE one shot and to see how much the mangaka changed his style. The mc seems a lot younger and maybe not as serious as in the one shot. Also the mc now has shiny hair, I don't know if I like that, but whatever. Overall, I don't know how I feel about these changes, hopefully they're for the best and I hope the author wasn't forced to try to make the mc goofier or friendlier or whatever to fit in better in the magazine and he seems to have changed his weapon completely from a cool sword thing to a gun? Also, hopefully that itsn't how his scar looks like now.
This is just a tiny promo image though, I think we'll need more art to jump to any conclusions.

Added a better quality image for his newer look.

I definitely vastly prefer his one shot look, that's for sure, he looks really cool and awesome and his design alone would make me want to read the manga he's in. I kind of have to agree, his design was ruined. Maybe things will look better when we see more art, but I don't like the new direction the art was taken in. It feels like it lost a lot of individuality, he doesn't even have that neck and chin clothing piece, which looks really cool.

Edit: I assume he his still has his hat thing(don't know what it's called), but he isnt't wearing it.

they made him younger to make him relatable to the readers

but then again it might be just pull Red Sprite/Golem Heart starting with a younger mc then timeskiping to the oneshot mc

This character's facial structure changes somewhat from panel to panel, so I don' think consistency is this artist strongest point. The character also looks considerably younger in the new preview, so perhaps it's just the prologue design, and he will look more like his one shot version once has has survived his first timeskip.

True, that is probably why they made him younger, I think it is possible we'll get a time skip, hopefully that is the case.

Hopefully it is the timeskip scenario.

So, are they gonna make the protagonist of Reitarou younger too?

I wanted the Gash Bell inspiration to win the GFC.... it was a throwback to another age of Jump.

Bozebeats lead is above average, am cautiously optimistic, definitely like new over the old.

I wanted a winter-themed one ;_; with scarfs and gloves and winter things... dissapointed. Btw, I like more Miura-sensei work here than the Tsutsui-sensei one, Chisaki seems a little bit off imo.

I'm indifferent towards all of the GFC entries, but I feel bad for Jekyll no Tsukaima's author, he competed in the GFC twice and lost twice

I have to see the MC of Bozebeats in color before I can put my finger on whether I like it or not

Tsutsui's success with WNL is pretty interesting, most of the time when an author can't come up with a hit publishers demote him to doing spinoffs, but this guy came from doing a spinoff to writing a hit in the main magazine

the last time this happened is with Akira Itou who did YuGiOh R then made Cardfight!! Vanguard

but most of the time it's the same old story
The guy that did Naruto chibi spinoff now does Boruto chibi spinoff
The guy that did Bleach chibi spinoff is no where to be found
The guy that does OP chibi spinoff did Majin no Gold which flopped
The guy that did Chopper spinoff didn't do anything successful but that, btw this guy is Shaman King creator younger brother
The guy that does Toriko chibi spinoff doesn't even work Shuiesha anymore and haven't done any other noticeable work
The guy that did Reborn! chibi spinoff did I Shojo, which I really don't know how to categorize, success? failure? dunno
The guy that does Kuroko prequel was in the magazine and did Volleyball Tsukai Gouda Gou which flopped
The guy that does AssClass chibi spinoff was in the magazine and flopped twice (he did Prince Grim and Edison)
The guy that does Haikyuu chibi spinoff was in the magazine and did Genson which flopped (he did a oneshot last year so maybe his dream of having his own series is still alive)
All of the other people that do YuGiOh spinoffs did nothing but that
The guy that does Prince of Tennis spinoff used to do Dragon Drive which lasted 14 volumes in Monthly Jump and was adapted to anime, he doesn't really fit with the rest of these guys

anyway, I hope my boi Dragon Garow Lee can follow Tsutsui's steps and doesn't just be known as the "Dragon Ball guy"

Wait what the PoT spinoff is by the author of Dragon Drive? I have the full set of that back home, never knew that.
Need to reread it, that was great when I was younger. Monthly Jump died too soon, rip NORA.

Does Demizu count with her history of licensed game manga in CoroCoro?
