MHA movie seems to have done fine for a first movie. It has grossed more than any Bleach movie already (going by a quick google search) and Bleach had like 4 movies.

I still have zero idea what happened here, but sex innuendo/implications/barrier-breaking is nothing new in shonen:
She had her fun with the guy and then killed him by slicing him into two.

How can you say your argument was never about screen numbers when it was the basis to everything?
Your misinterpretating my posts again. I never said my argument wasn't about screen numbers. I said my argument isn't about "more screenings equal more money" like you've been misinterpretating all the time like here.
when I already proved that more screens does not equal more profit.
My argument is Toho probably expected more due to the huge marketing push and big number of screening. Not that it's not successful or profitable already. I even said they'll make more despite it.
You're putting emphasis on something that you yourself said doesn't matter so why is it that when it comes to MHAits a huge deal?
You're getting confused.
Do people...just not know how few Japanese films can crack 500 million yen let alone finish out with 1 billion towards tge end if their run even with 200+ screens?
Choco you have problem where you misinterpret and assume anyone who says something not 100% positive regarding MHA's performance in any form of media as an attack towards its success. Similar to Iceking with Black Clover but to a smaller degree. This entire discussion is an example.

Also you're factually incorrect especially in this decade. Out of 60 or so animated films after 2012 with over 200+ screens, only 3 didn't crack 500 million yen.

I'm done with this discussion.

and big number of screening
How is it a big screening number when its the same as every mainstream animated film released within the last decade? Do you just in general not what to admit you were wrong every time someone points out a counterpoint? If you have to argue semantics to prove a point you already don't have a leg to stand on.

And you just seem to attack MHA's performance in any form of media being not "good enough" based on your own made up criteria. Where is your data that shows Toho's projections for the movie other than your own shortsighted bias for the series? Much like @Bigivelfhq you just seem to have a problem whenever MHA gets brought up or if its not flopping like you want.

Speaking of misinterpretating posts you quoting an article that only includes 5 years worth of data and missing data at that when my statement was about the Japanese film industry as a whole doesn't make you right.

>same as every mainstream animated film

Hunter x Hunter -Phantom Rouge-: 257 screens
Hunter x Hunter -The Last mission: 258 screens
Naruto: Road to Ninja: 262 screens
Naruto: The Last: 266 screens
Boruto: Naruto the Movie: 268 screens
Boku no Hero Academia: Futari no Hero: 298 screens

lol

No shit. It says right there in my post after 2012. Do you perhaps not know how to count?

Where's your data?

I don't want to really get into this discussion here but simply looking at the number of screens doesn't really give us any any clear of what Toho's intent is. Heroaca's movie had a lot of elementary, middle and high schoolers as viewers. The ticket price of that base is significantly less, especially elementary kids. The box office will be affected by this. This is even more apparent for the first film of a franchise. Still, it seemingly did cross 1 billion already and will only add to that from now on until it ends its run so I'd say its a hit. I don't expect it to stay in the top 10 for its third weekend though.

So you are just arguing semantics then? Alright. Good job not including Conan, Doraemon, Pokemon, Yokai Watch etc. but I guess that would have killed your argument.

Just so you know you do realize that there's more than 70 Japanese domestic releases from the past 5 years right?

Binge read and caught up with Dr.Stone and thought it was great.
Anyone think We Never Learn is worth the binge?

Think the general reception of WNL on this forum was better than Dr. Stone's. So I'd say go for it.

As far of staples of this genre goes its very inoffensive with a charming premise that honestly doesn't need the romance aspect to it since the story of highschoolers tutoring one another is amusing in itself.

Thanks. I read it when it started for about 10 chapters or so.
I enjoyed it, but slacked on it

I think the MHA movies success is how long it stays in theaters.

Still no TOC, Yonkou-san save us.
Isn't it still early? ToC leaks seem to be Wednesday evenings at the earliest now (can't say I've ever seen it this early on a Tuesday either). Sometimes the issue after a break leaks early but I think that's usually the December ones not Golden Week and Obon.

Not me. He doesn't have enough talent and also caved into his editor. His GFC winning oneshot was a lot better, but he didn't have the skills to serialize the concept. Instead we got a Great Value version of Blood Lad. Very disrespectful to readers.

I may be in the minority, but personally I believe every artist who gets published in Jump, whether it be a One Shot or failed series, has the potential or chance to make a great series. It's just a matter of whether or not they can come up with a good enough idea.
