I hate the contrived ways mangaka try so hard to create situations involving boobs. A recent example would be in Hardboiled Cop and Dolphin, where the girl's boobs just expose themselves for no reason at all.
Even a lot of harem romcoms do the whole 'final pairing is very obvious from ch 1' thing with nobody else really being a serious option, even though the whole point of the genre is having lots of love interests.
Hmm...
1. Female characters being irrelevant in battle shonen. Come on, there's a significant female audience reading your work. Make sure they're represented, man! You can have female characters kick ass and just be cool. It can seriously help. Modern shonen are a bit better about this, but only a bit. Black Clover's the best in this regard, IMO.
2. Someone said obvious love interests in harems, and yeah, I'd have to agree. I do think We Never Learn and Quintuplets (from Magazine) are exceptions in that regard, though. I'd like it if one of the less obvious love interests won in general, as well.
Characters that only fit 1 personality trait (angry dude, stoic, coward, pervert, etc.)
In non comedic manga treating people making “funny” faces, acting perverted, or screaming obnoxiously as comedic relief (sometimes it works but most of the time it falls flat)
Fear of killing off important characters
Side characters lacking depth and character development
I wish we could get a parkour manga, it could have multiple things like instead of a tournament it could have goals is trying to do a specific jump, or it could also do some tournament stuff with competitive tag and parkour that's judged.
I didn't even knew this trope had its own name. Then again there are thousands of tropes. I just saw that if a female character needs saving she is a damsel in distress and you can either do it the proper way by the saving making sense and "feel" right or the improper way where it just needs to happen to make the male character/MC look "good".
As for Mashle, 2nd volume sales gonna be something to watch out for.I bet WSJ breathes a large sigh of relief they got a hit already after cutting off a couple series already and Haikyu! ending soon. Hope in the new months we get some new sports series. Maybe even a fantasy sport with elves, dwarves, orcs and not just human teenagers, like a fantasy world where conflict is resolved via a certain type of sport all nations/kingdoms/races agreed on. That way the outcome of the matches would feel even heavier than just winning and losing as there will be consequences to the world afterwards.
My last ones were more annoying than anything but some that are just plain bad or lazy
Dead/overseas parents. I get that's one way of having the teenage protagonist seem independent, but a great parent-child relationship will almost always be better. (Parents being killed off during the story don't count)
The reason for that (I read it in one of jumps interview), is that the usual parent wont allow their kids to go on an dead/live adventure. They will worry alot or/and intervene with the mc's goal.
Dekus mother is a good example
Gon's mom is a good example (even tho she accept at the end that it's his fate to do it, she is still actually against it and In the end gon is still forced at home going to school as a "punishment")
(Meanwhile Ash mom being the total opposite lol wtf)
Authors just want to phase up their story without cling to the same "uhm mom I want to be the greatest or achieve X goal but to do that I have to kill many professional assasins, I will be right back !"
So it make sense we have the same dead/missing parents thrope, it's just so the mc doesnt have to Worry about himself to help others in need
Ofc there are exceptions like tanjirou and asta, those have a good reason that it's worth risking their lives for their family.
So it's one of the thropes that isnt bad or needs a change, it's really part of life itself or better phasing in the authors story
I think you misunderstand the trope Teennitro is talking about.
We are talking about badass women who got introduced as elites, veterans, awesome fighters, great mages, etc. and who we see constantly in need of saving. An example for that would be that Ninja woman with the fishnets who was one of the high ranked Ninjas, a master and everything and yet we hardly saw much of that. The few times we saw her fighting she always needed someone to come in and help or save her.
In Fuuko's case she was not introduced as a badass she was introduced as a suicidal shut-in who had only lived so far to finish the Shoujo series she loved. If anything Fuuko is on her way to become a badass as in 1. Using her power offensively 2. Think up plans on how to deal with enemies like with Spoil's power being largely useless in space 3. using weapons like guns and swords 4. kill Andy by beheading it when he could't do so himself. And let's not forget that she actually did save Andy from Victor, which is more than Sakura was able to do for Naruto in terms of saving.
The examples you are talking about, and in that UU belongs as well (for now), is "proper Damsel in Distress" (still annoying but at least it does serve a purpose and is due circumstances) as in the said Damsel does need saving as she cannot save herself and is in constant danger thus in need of constant protection. In AT Suzu is an Ayakashi Medium and a normal girl, no way she can fight off Ayakashi trying to eat her. In YF (I seriously forgot her name...) the family head is also a normal girl targeted by the whole world due her genes and as tough and cool as she is, she would not win a fight on her own if it was against a real threat and she and her family know that. In UU Fuuko is thrown into a crazy world where she has to orientate herself, but if you compare her latest acts to her first ones then she has already gone through a lot of development to become a future badass herself someday. At least she will be more of a badass than the Damsels in the other series.
Like hell, even the girl in mitama we thought was a dismissal in destress twisted our expectations. Even tho even in older shonen mangas we have many strong females. In the current line it's more thrown in ur face which is nice
It was leaked on Twitter that the last badges are for Nini, Noel, Ichigo, Rukia and Renji. Unfortunately, I can’t find the original leaker but I’m confident it’s legit.

If true then it'll most likely start on Issue 38 (24th August) after the group cover/double issue which makes sense. In a dream scenario we'd get both Burn the Witch and Hunter x Hunter return for short runs (10~ chapters each, maybe 20 for Hunter x Hunter if Togashi is feeling generous). Would be nice to have two pros returning for a short time, allowing less newbies to get cancelled before the end of the year.
Love the library background. It was pretty obvious Lance would get this cover, looks great and I'm happy to see one of my favs (I honestly think he could win the popularity poll whenever they decide to hold it).
Do people know that Masle had a One-Shot before being serialized in Jump? The main difference was that it wasn’t set in a world of magic, was a manga in a delinquent school
