DGM's not about endeavour(ing)? I'd say there's quite a lot of that - all of the characters have their struggles to become better and stronger (not powerfully, either!) people. At least as much as friendship, anyway.

Funny how the biggest series all show some of that, eh?

Most magazines have a theme or style the editors impose on the majority of series in the anthology. Jump is the only one that advertise the theme itself. Neuro is the only recent series that I can think of that didn't demonstrate the importance of friendship, doing your best, striving for improvement, and achieving a goal. Even the dating and comedy manga follow those themes. It's a teen magazine, trying to reinforce values society feels is important.

ITA DGM has a lot "endeavor" to it. They have a goal, defeat the Earl, that they have to follow through on no matter what.

"Endeavor" could be no more then making yourself a better person, getting the girl, it doesn't have to be the epic quest. Gintama, in it's own weird way, still has some of that. Ane Doki is a coming of age story, Toriko has the quest to build the perfect menu. Underlying all Jump series, the characters set a goal, follow through, and eventually achieve it. Along the way they learn the importance of friendship and loyalty. Every series should have "friendship, ambition, achievement", the official motto of Weekly Jump next to it. That's the theme of every current series no matter what synonym anyone wants to substitute.

There's no Sorachi...I want to see if he really looks like a gorilla. (Kubo's been known for a while though considering NF has an emoticon of him trolling the fans)

As for the TOC...I like where Gintama is, I like that Psyren is knocking at the top and Beezle's still returning to it's earlier run form...that's about it.

ooh, nice. Believe it or not, Shiibashi Hiroshi and Komi Naoshi are not what I expected them to be, especially Shiibashi sensei. His looks more like a martial artist than a mangaka for me

Actually, I think Sorchi sensei doesn't reveal himself,yet. So, I'm not sure that I can find a picture of Sorachi sensei.

But, Sorachi sensein made a comment that himself looks similar to Takeda Tetsuya, Japanese singer/actor.

As to why there are two Wasshoi's listed, could it be because there are actually two parts? I'm looking at my copy of issue 35 and after it's main manga (第３訓), there were also some 4 komas (第４訓).

Edit: Just noticed that the 4 komas part was titled 'Wasshoi! 4 KoMa-nia' (koma+mania) so it could be something similiar.
