Summary and Preview

Kaede is a career woman in her twenties, struggling to succeed against gender-related prejudices. At work, she's having sex with one of her colleagues, but it's unclear whether the relationship is purely physical or something more. At home, her companions are her close friends, Kouta and his son Shouta. Kouta's wife is sick in the hospital,　so Kaede and the two boys often help each other out in day to day life.

Her life takes an unexpected twist when a policeman comes bearing news of her older sister, who ran away from home 8 years ago. Apparently her sister has a son, who she abandoned in an apartment with instructions for someone to send him to Kaede. With no way of contacting her sister, Kaede is faced with caring for this sweet, neglected, malnourished 5-year-old boy named Muku. Will her career be able to survive her sudden rise to single motherhood? [tethysdust]
