I agree with most of the replies. But in a way it's kind of sad to see all those titles savethecat mentioned are considered successes and are making the mag competitive again. I'm not knocking anyone who likes those series (I really like WNL and Stone has been better) or wishing for them to fail cause if it's trash it'll happen anyway.... but it kinda of makes me miss the Big 3 era even more. We were just talking about having series that make us HYPE again, MHA is the only series doing that for me. I look at those series and none of them give me goosebumps, make me wake up early just to check if the chapter is out, or give me chills down my spine. They more make me wake up in a cold sweat. I'm an eternal optimist too so it's a problem.

By what I know any successful series in Jump lasts as much as possible, 75 chapters or 100 chapters aren't nearly considered satisfactory.

I get more hype for Neverland than I ever did for Bleach and more than Naruto after Pain killed Kakashi. One Piece and Hunter x Hunter still do it for me...and honestly, Haikyu!! and Hinomaru Zumou often get me giddy.

This however doesn't hold for series like To-love-ru which did not reach 300k from when we have data but can be considered huge success.
Length is a tricky measure to use to rate success. In a magazine as cutthroat as Jump, lasting 100 chapters, or around 2 years, is a huge feat as readers considered your manga interesting enough to read it every week the magazine was published for 2 years .

Sales depends a bit on the genre of the series, To Love Ru was romance and ecchi so 250k or so is a success for this kind of manga.
When you put length and sales together you form a strong measure. There were "short" mangas that sold extremely well and are legends now like AC and Death Note. For Jump standards they are short, I bet the editors begged to the authors to continue.
I don't think the authors think satisfied with 100 chapters. It is like saying to someone that was not able to stay at a Medicine college that his path was successful because the was able to pass and stay for 1~2 years, because, you know, it was strict anyway. A manga is only successful when the sales are good and therefore the author is given the chapters he needs to finish his series and get satisfied with it, together with the readers.

That's a bad analogy because attending medical school is more about the end goal of getting a degree. Writing manga doesn't really have an end goal, it's more about trying to stay serialized in a competitive environment for as long as they can, or at least until they are satisfied with how much they've done.

it was published in Jump Giga, so it might get a series in the future
