And if mashima had any intention or thought to us ehim, atleast something would have been given. Also why would FT fight him? They have no resentment towards him for cursing mavis. (which is kinda a plothole that they fought zeref off from getting her without any diplomancy or attempt to understand why he wanted her. But they didn't even curse ankhseram for cursing them both and starting the mess.)
Well their either characters who look like Mavis and Zeref or that scene wasn’t real I mean there is a theory about that scene not being real because Lucy was imaginaing it but I can’t look for it right because I’m on my IPad so I can’t copy and paste.

That and there is no point to bring Ankhserum into the story now that Mavis and Zeref are dead. Also I think Ankhseram should be like the truth from Fullmetal Alchemist like @Arjuna stated.

Because for all we know he's going to show up to see what even happened.
Again, it is something that is beyond Acno and could happen. Mashima has changed his mind before and can do it again.
And no, it's not a plot hole. They didn't need to know why, they weren't going to let it happen. Zeref saw it as a sim war game. There was no room for diplomacy.

Except they were dealing with someone who went through the same as their own guild master and had clear issues. Makarov himself said that no matter what no one enjoys being alone. Now imagine a guy who no matter what must be alone. The complete lack of any line even admitting sympathy completely goes against who FT is as a guild.
Well the only other thing Ivan is after Laxus’s Dragon Slayer Lacirma which Ivan wanted to ripped Laxus’s Dragon Slayer Lacirma out of Laxus despise knowing it could kill Laxus.

While acnologia was about ready to destroy the world and according to the timeline. Had done so in a alternate universe while FT didn't even have a plan.

This is why authors really need to clarify this shite..... though the doyelist explanation is likely editorial told him their was going to be a sequel and he left that door open just in case....
Like I said above. He left a door open, he told the story he...... choose to tell. And he's handing it off to other people to do with it as he find acceptable, while occupied with EZ.

I never liked ivan.... not just because of how big a ass he is. But he was so one dimensional and didn't contribute anything to the plot.
Because it makes what zeref's insanity and unseasonably, is closer to a informed attribute and FT seemed the ones who are unreasonable. They literally had no plan, no conceivable way to deal with acno (the way he was dealt with in canon is not only one of the most loathed aspect of alvarez, but relied so munch on luck that anyone would have considered insane and relied on Anna reaching them in time. Along with aspects of dragonsalyers being ignored or contradicted) Waiting until the end to reveal zeref plan didn't help. Especially since up until alvarez most of Zeref actions either helped FT (killing hades, teaching FT magic to begin with etc) or weren't worth calling him out to begin with. (not killing geer until his plan to kill zeref had failed and not too mention would have left acno wide open for a kill.) Which really is the issue. Zeref is the kind of character that takes more work to see as villain needing to be destroyed
It doesn't help that when one thinks about it. When zeref is acting ruthless and devious. That by, nature of his curse, is supposed to mean his intentions are good due to his personalty contradicting his goal, it's when he acts friendly and nice that's when you need to watch out.
Because he is the reason fairy tail even exists and he did so out of kindness. Doesn't that atleast warrants a attempt out of thanks?
Heck they know that Zeref has nothing to do with dark guilds and despises them. So none of the suffering they had at his followers can be layed at his feet. (accept tartaros.)
Well the only other thing Ivan is after is Laxus’s Dragon Slayer Lacirma which Ivan wanted to ripped Laxus’s Dragon Slayer Lacirma out of Laxus despise knowing it could kill Laxus.
Ultear brain washed and forced Erza best friend/love interest into enslaving and killing several people, gets a pass after being sorry. Gajeel beat the crap out of two of their members, get recruited spite of his reluctance, Erza goes out of her way to redeem Minerva in spite of what she's done.
Zeref the man who admitted to have gotten himself cursed to bring back his little brother, cursed with the most horrifying and painful curse imaginable, trained FT with no benefit to himself and out of kindness done for him. His own breaking point came after opening his heart and killing the one he loves..... this person deserved no quarter or empathy.
Look I can get the lack of diplomacy. What bugged me about it all, was the way Natsu treated zeref in their fight. What he was saying was meant to sound as though zeref is trying hard enough, but the way it came sounded like natsu was just targeting zeref thinking the world was rejecting him, when the curse requires him to not care for the world so everywhere he goes doesn't turn into a desert. This was in spite of the fact that Natsu knew zeref for who he was more then anybody. The complete lack of empathy was out of character for natsu and FT as a whole.
Well at the end of the Battle of Fairy Tail arc there was a scene that was only shown in the manga which was when Gajeel and Ivan meet they were talking about Laxus being a Dragon Slayer and Ivan admitted that he planned to ripped out Laxus’s Dragon Slayer Lacrima when Laxus got older.
