Yeah, I first noticed it in the Viz digital magazine (when they were doing that).

I'm confused now.

So, in these mangas (except Hunter x Hunter), is an ownership joint from authors and publishers?

AoT nearly beating One Piece will always be more impressive than Kimetsu actually doing it. Those were near OP's peak years right before sales started rapidly declining in 2015. Beating it in 2019 is like knocking out an out-of-shape heavyweight champion.
In 2014 OP had 3 volumes released and sold 11.8M which is why Aot got close, This year OP will sell 10M+ so both are impressive really.

Aaaaalthough it's not the first time for Arata to bring up only 2 ID's, it's indeed not the usual. Honestly, given the fact M+ is pulling some new series (and still some more have to pop up yet) and the development of the series, it wouldn't be weird to think it's actually ending.
The latest chapter even explained the whole event background and all, it's in a plot rush mode the last 3-4 chapters. The sales are terrible and isn't viewed as Abyss Rage or Dorei Yuugi are in the app, so no surprise anyway.

What do you mean with new series popping up?

Still though, Arata just left on his mission to save the present, there's the people in the shelter, the development project, his father's situation and they just brought up his mother. I'm not surprised it's ending, but that's a whole of stuff to cover in just one chapter.

His writing is lazy, I'm not referring to any other part of his workload (although he rarely does covers or color pages).
As someone said above, I would imagine it’s more of a time constraint thing than “I can’t think of how to delve into this theme further, so I’m just going to cut corners”.

It seems like he doesn’t want a One Piece lengthen series, and given that this is action Shonen, action needs to be prioritized.
Every arc would likely be like twice as long if he started develo
It's obvious that no manga can surpass Op in lifetime sales.

What is over 90% to happen is KnY surpassing it in year sales. And I think it's not the same case as Snk. KnY receives 500k+ per week, next week for sure will get that, and apparently right now the difference between op and kny is only 50k. Op has to sell more than 300k copies to for the following weeks in order to avoid KnY to catch up.
I think something will pass OP eventually. Probably not in OUR lifetimes, but not until we’re very very old. But I think it can be done.
There are so many records that ppl say “there’s no way anybody will ever surpass XYZ”, only for it to be surpassed at some point.

That's what we're thinking, but it's hard to know for sure from just the copyright info.

Fair, but OP is still doubling what kimetsu receives.
That case was also for attack on titan but that didn't happen either. One piece is the greatest manga in sales.. in history. From every manga that existed, no one could beat it. I don't believe even kny can beat that. Either the manga has to come from heaven by a god mangaka to believe it (not literally lol) or only if it HAPPENDS.

If it happends, I gonna make a gif of myself eating a sock
At this point we still doing the underestimating game with Yaiba? lol People here were laughing about being in the top 5, so laughing about beating Neverland, so laughing about beating Kingdom, better prepare that sock kkkk

Well, they're showing Aizawa's backstory in Vigilantes. If that doesn't say 'I have no room to put everything I want in the manga', I don't know what does.

New series will be picked up by M+ soon. Can't pinpoint how many, at least 1 more.

going by this and the post by @ruggia this could explain why HxH is still in WSJ despite all the hiatuses and the series only having a limited number of chapters every year. And why the series never moved to SQ or another magazine.
Togashi could just walk out on Shueisha with HxH and they'd literally lose a million copies seller.
He's basically got a free pass with WSJ.

I've also been wondering if that's the reason why Viz hasn't added it to their vault. Same with YYH as well.

But maybe they're just waiting for HxH to return, and then they'll add it (or both). :hmm

Yu Yu Hakuhso isn't under joint ownership either? But how did Togashi have leverage to make that deal, he was a nobody before yu yu hakusho. Or maybe he bought the full rights later.

Yeah, I assume he got them later. Same with Inoue.

Authors generally opt to license out the IP management to the publisher and let them deal with negotiations surrounding anime, merchandising, etc. In this case, publishers are acting as their representative as most authors don't have the resources or the bandwidth to be dealing it on their own.

Yeah, I assume he got them later. Same with Inoue.

In case of Slam Dunk, Inoue has mentioned that he explicitly reclaimed back all the rights when anime ended because he was disappointed with how it turned out as well as the quality of the merchandising.

Exactly what I assumed.
Im curious, can someone confirm who owns the IP for Sam 8? Is it a shueisha and kishimoto thing or just kishimoto?

Viz has all the Hunter x Hunter Volumes available for purchase digitally on their SJ app, as well as all of Yu Yu Hakusho.

They are almost definitely just waiting for the most exciting time to make the chapters for both series available to subscribers, instead of just people who purchase the full volumes. Whenever HxH returns from hiatus seems like a good time for that.

Not on the Viz copyrights page yet. Will probably have to wait until closer to when they release Vol. 1. I'm expecting Kishimoto/Okubo/Shueisha

I heard that the anime wanted to change the ending so Inoue retracted the rights and it got cancelled, have you heard anything like this or is it just a rumor?

Ohh so a Slam Dunk remake it's all on Inoue's hands?

Wait. What about the recent anime version of HxH? Did Shueisha get credits for that or was it solely Togashi?
