I love how is this supposed to be a justification for one of the worst attention-whoring actions in this community. This will be my last ever post here on this topic because of how tiring it is. Nobody will ever doubt the information, or say it's fake, more so when a bunch of people here were already aware it's all real since months ago and not even stuff they said but also stuff that wasn't. But this is not the problem. The issue comes when that kind of information is given to an audience whose only reaction is to speculate, create stuff and propagate rumors/unconfirmed stuff as if it was real. And even more, that is completely ignoring the context.
Any of us can just go and tweet something like x series will be getting an anime, and in 90% of the times in which it's about a popular series, we'll be right. The problem here comes when that information is given along an official confirmation of some big news happening soon, which makes people directly correlate those big news to the anime announcement, regardless of how likely that can be. And that's not even the end of it, because people start speculating, media that put their trust on these guys starts reporting it, and cases such as some manga/anime news site reporting that SPYxFAMILY is receiving an anime in fucking 2022 happens. And yes, there are people who will believe this bullshit, because there are people who're not knowledgeable on these matters, because there are people who only read some tweets from whatever source of media they follow and instantly believe and propagate that same information.
And yes, it's a fucking serious matter. It's really serious that the whole community right now had hopes shattered, is disappointed, or doesn't believe different sources anymore. Nobody is explaining to these guys how this stuff works, but they're just recreating a mechanism in their head that is being fooled all the time. Thanks to these tweets and this kind of information that is given intentionally when this kind of announcement of an announcement is reported, people generate expectations. If we're seriously gonna keep defending attention-whoring, then sure, go on. Wonder how much will it last.
