Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

Well, with Act-Age having a stage play announced before an anime, that's another one I got right for 2020 Jump Prediction Bingo. I feel good about that, I guess?

Out of curiosity of what everyone was talking about, i had a look those chainsaw scans.

Lol he’s definitely pushing the envelope, can’t tell if that’s a good thing or bad thing.

Lol, Power really got first place! With double the votes of Denji as well. And Kobeni's car is ranked higher than Kobeni herself! What a whacky poll! Love it! XD
How can Makima look so sexy yet intimidating at the same time?

Yozakura cover very reminiscent of the CP for chapter 25, but not in a bad way. Surprised they went with the Gina fight for the Undead cover, since only the last chapter of that is this volume I think, guess Spoil doesn't make as appealing a cover character. Mashle cover is, eh, it's fine I guess. Also lol Undead and Yozakura's covers are bigger than Yuuna, they really hate promoting that thing lol.
I think they went with Gina because she seems quite popular in Japan. Even now she is still getting fanart, if UU get a poll someday I wouldn't be surprised to see her getting quite a high rank. Not Top10 but close to it. Like Himeno with her 11th place in the CSM poll.

Tocs & Preview :

Dr Stone
My Hero Academia
Shinrin Ousha Mori King
Chainsaw Man (Color)
Bone Collection
Haikyu
Act-age (Color)
Time Paradox Ghostwriter
Black Clover
We Never Learn
Mitama Security
Jujutsu Kaisen
Mashle
Undead Unluck
Mission: Yozakura Family
Yuragi-sou no Yuuna-san
Guardian of the Witch
Agravity Boys

#27 :

Haikyu (Color)
Yuragi-sou no Yuuna-san (Climax, Color & Big News)
Senran Freaks / Kentarou Hidano (Ziga) x Shun Yabe (Oneshot, Color, 49p)
BoneC is quite high, doesn't seem like WSJ want to give up on it. AB being dead last is sad. What happened, Baba-bros? D:
Also I just realized how weird this TOC feels with so many new series under 20-30 chapters in it. Like we got only 8 Veteran series left and 3of them gonna end though Haikyuu might end next year since they don't have a new sport manga replacing it but still. The Toc feels very "young" all of a sudden.

So, what do we learn today? To better wait for the official info and not spread more rumours that cant be confirmed without proof or in a short time period.
Yonko and Spy were never talking about next issue with their leaks.

Oh, I didn't think it was going to be an anime, especially since you guys said that anime announcements usually get a cover in the issue that they're announced. (Though, I feel like the Big News for Yuuna might be an anime second season - it's not over yet, Jump usually hands out second seasons and if there's one Jump manga that could get an anime without a cover, it's probably Yuuna. I'm likely wrong tho.)
I doubt they want to make a second season after the first one was a complete disaster.

I think they went with Gina because she seems quite popular in Japan. Even now she is still getting fanart, if UU get a poll someday I wouldn't be surprised to see her getting quite a high rank. Not Top10 but close to it. Like Himeno with her 11th place in the CSM poll.

A villain is not something you usually see in a cover unless it's a pretty established villain, it takes away the surprise factor.

Bone Collection's position right now isn't really one to take a close look at because it's a period where it fluctuates up and down the ToC. Wait a few more chapters and we can analyze it.

Agravity being so low all the time despite doing "decent" is definitely weird. Makes me even more curious about it's sales in July, but with so many of Jump's upper echelon releasing new volumes together, it will be a hard time for the series.

The ToC looking so young right now is the consequence of the last hit series being Chainsaw Man, which debuted almost a year and six months ago. So many veterans are gearing towards their end, while no newbies have managed to find success in the meantime. The ToC might look even younger in the future depending on how things will unfold.

Big Announcement for AA next issue -> *A day before the leak* Both said Act Age is getting an anime -> It isnt announced -> "i NeVeR sAiD iT wIlL bE sOoN"

The obvious is obvious and I think you can figured it out on why they did this tactic.

Oh yuna is ending. That's the only thing in the magazine I don't read though. Is it good?

While Mashle's placement definitely isn't bad, it's still kinda depressing. Guess I was to optimistic when I saw the pretty high placements over the last two (?) weeks. Of course it would go down at some point. I just hope it goes up again soon.

Cover is fine. Not impressive, but it fits the series.

I love how is this supposed to be a justification for one of the worst attention-whoring actions in this community. This will be my last ever post here on this topic because of how tiring it is. Nobody will ever doubt the information, or say it's fake, more so when a bunch of people here were already aware it's all real since months ago and not even stuff they said but also stuff that wasn't. But this is not the problem. The issue comes when that kind of information is given to an audience whose only reaction is to speculate, create stuff and propagate rumors/unconfirmed stuff as if it was real. And even more, that is completely ignoring the context.

Any of us can just go and tweet something like x series will be getting an anime, and in 90% of the times in which it's about a popular series, we'll be right. The problem here comes when that information is given along an official confirmation of some big news happening soon, which makes people directly correlate those big news to the anime announcement, regardless of how likely that can be. And that's not even the end of it, because people start speculating, media that put their trust on these guys starts reporting it, and cases such as some manga/anime news site reporting that SPYxFAMILY is receiving an anime in fucking 2022 happens. And yes, there are people who will believe this bullshit, because there are people who're not knowledgeable on these matters, because there are people who only read some tweets from whatever source of media they follow and instantly believe and propagate that same information.

And yes, it's a fucking serious matter. It's really serious that the whole community right now had hopes shattered, is disappointed, or doesn't believe different sources anymore. Nobody is explaining to these guys how this stuff works, but they're just recreating a mechanism in their head that is being fooled all the time. Thanks to these tweets and this kind of information that is given intentionally when this kind of announcement of an announcement is reported, people generate expectations. If we're seriously gonna keep defending attention-whoring, then sure, go on. Wonder how much will it last.

Mashle seems low but the two the series getting colour pages this issue (Chainsawman and Act-age) usually rank pretty low, and the three new manga are above it too. As a result it's still at #8, so not as bad as it looks at first glance. There's just not many ranked series this issue.

Oh yuna is ending. That's the only thing in the magazine I don't read though. Is it good?
It's mostly fanservice and silly comedy shenanigans with an occasion serious arc, like To Love Ru. If you like that sort of stuff, you'll probably like Yuuna. The characters are all pretty fun.

Agravity Boys seems dead, what a shame. Maybe it could be moved to Jump+ where the oneshot is.

For an example, I’ll reiterate:

Spy saying that Act-Age will get an anime? That tweet was posted on Reddit, and it was gilded twice and has like over 4K upvotes last I checked. That’s a lot of people who are now expecting more information for something that officially does not exist yet. Yet everyone was just swept in the hype.

In more serious news, I stumbled upon something genuinely surprising.

Any thoughts on this?
That's a pretty unfortunate way of phrasing it.

If he had just said "I didn't intend to put any life lessons in Dragon Ball", nobody would've batted an eye. But saying "There's nothing of substance in there, stop analysing it" kinda feels like he is telling all fans who consider the story worthwhile that they are wrong. Which is a bizarre thing to do, both from an artistic and a business perspective. Why on earth would you tell people not to find value in your work (or even worse, the work of someone you were supposed to help)? It's almost as if he feels insulted that some people like the story more than he does.

I mean...it does explain in part why he allegedly had so much doubt regarding serialising One Piece.

We have had such a wild week. Kimetsu no 1 on all Oricon charts, act age "anime" announcement, TPN and yuuna in their climax, chainsaw man with its own "climax", toriyama's editor saying dragon ball has no substance........

About the editor interview, they is a lot to unpack so I'm going to time reading over it and thinking about any comment I will make. Let me just say if he didn't find any life lesson or put anything of "substance" in it, millions of other people have something worthwhile in it.
