Reps won't start 25th because Trump is still their most popular horse in the stable, The Dems led a huge attack on many Senator positions yet they barely got to 50 despite tons of volunteers and the biggest money war bag they ever had. Part of that is due Trump's popularity giving the Reps more voters than they lost due his behavior. It is funny that his recent stuff seemed to have been a bit too much so that even Perdue of all people lost to a young Jewish man in Georgia. Normally that guy could run around naked in public and he would still get a majority of the vote but not this time.

And the Dems can't do the Impeachment in two weeks because of the Trump-Senators who will just delay it if they bring it forward, so their only hope is Pence and co throwing Trump out in hopes to reduce his popularity and with that the ones of the Trump supporters in their party because right now the reps are pretty much broken in half at the basis and like 1/3 2/3 in the party. Mitch pretty much lost all authority with the representatives and senators rebelling against him and doing Trump's bidding. If it had not been for that riot then they would have opposed even more states despite knowing that the votes were legitimate.

I know, I said what I said objectively, that the right really are fucked up and have no problem with actually rioting. It doesn't help that they're protected or think they're protected by cops, Trump, and the system. The left protested because they were tired of cops killing Black people and getting away with it. The right rioted like thugs they are because they couldn't handle losing or get over it.

The point of impeachment isn't to hope to remove him from office a day earlier than inauguration or something. If he's impeached he wouldn't be able to run again, like in 2024 for example.
