OK, I don't want to be rude in any way (and you are more or less agreeing with me to a certain point according to this message) and I don't know if it's really systematic with people coming the U.S but...

I wanted to come to the point where you were realizing that you were imposing your values and your vision of the world to a world which is not ours, with its own code. It's kind of imperialistic in a way. You are defining sexism without and talking about objectification to a world which seems to be very close to ours but which is fundamentally different.

You are classing the behavior of Sanji as sexism without knowing his actual internal thoughts, taking into account the sociological environment or the diegese of OP.

It's not really wrong, I mean according to your definition, all the cases are checked and it could be accurately considered as sexism according to the elements constructed in our world.

However, I don't know if it's really pertinent, fair and totally accurate to impose this vision to another world without taking the fact that it is not built like our.

. In our world, peeping women can be seen as an objectified act, sure. It can harm them because it can be a real intrusion to their intimacy and serious issues could happen following that. Is it the case in OP ? Is peeping in One Piece actually the same thing than peeping in the real world, will it have the same impact ?

. Is it the same for all the following thing ?

We are appreciating this action through our extra-diegetic point of view and assuming that it's working the same, with the same values, the same social constructions, the same reactional behaviours.

You are transposing things into reality without transposing the intra-diegetic rules

My following question was something like : How can somebody which is supposedly more or less one of the nicest person in the series, very perceptive and knowingly smart could not get that he's systematically hurting the thing he loves the most in the world ? I got two answers but maybe you got a third. Mine are:

- He's not that perceptive (it's weird for me because he has been showed multiple time as not.)

- He's not (but it's also weird because real world studies showed that harassing could really hurt women. And he did that an incalculable number of time. He's either really lucky or something is off with our reasoning).

(Sorry for "imperialistic" but I don't know any other terms less agressive designating this type of behaviour)

To be honest, I don't genuinely know the answer of my little tirade. You seems to have yours but I'm not quite convinced by your arguments.

(actually I also think I'm slowly taking this tread in my off-topic reflexion. I don't know if I should keep talking on this matter)
I think it's up to us as the reader to transpose what we want into reality and filter what we don't want. It's a hard argument to say that Fishman Island is not straight-up parallel to race-issues we face in real life. I'm just arguing that for me Sanji's actions are not admirable and that objectifying someone is not something to see as cool.
When it comes to physics, I'm not going to quote real life physics in an argument about a world that has Devil Fruits.
When it comes to issues of sex / what's right and wrong? We have a clearly defined line in One Piece that women are seen as less-capable, and weaker overall. I find the treatment of women by Sanji to be incredibly relevant to the world that chewed up and spit Kuina out. That's all.

but be prepare to talk on different characters on their situation though.
Be prepared to get deleted for going offtopic. :hmm If you want to address that you can always go to their threads or create a new thread to talk about sexism in the One Piece manga so we can talk about every character and compare.

I don't see how it's sexist for Sanji to not want to fight women, especially when he was raised to never lay a hand on women. Also not interested in getting into this whole conversation again.

But also, remember when Viola peeked into Sanji's mind? Dude is definitely a lecherous pervert, but he's also a good guy with a good heart, otherwise Viola wouldn't have defected and helped Sanji and the Straw Hats.

So we know Sanji is heading to Momo side? Given hints and he didn't show up to Scabbards side means he is heading to Momo instead given I think he is concern about 'Yamato' when she actually an ally. It be interest interaction to see this and could be interesting seeing them all being next group to go to the roof along with certain others to fight Kaido. Probably to give Luffy another round for support before beating Kaido.

Because treating someone differently purely on the basis of sex is sexism. Sometimes it's minor, and sometimes it's horrendous.

Could always steer it back towards how Sanji's DJ compares to a Gear 3 punch from Luffy. Nothing quite as interesting as investigating the slight differences in power-levels of various attacks of characters on the same side of the alliance. Or spend another week speculating on what Sanji is actually going to do this arc, now that we're only about 3 years into Wano. Or talking about Sanji possibly utilizing abilities that were debuted by enemies in 2005.

Edit: Should clarify that the reason I ever steered it this way in the past is because there has been nothing of substance to indicate any particular direction with Sanji as a character with respect to Wano in the past couple of months. I think talking about his actual character is interesting when the series is devoid of anything else involving him.

Can we not go back on topic here. I like to move on please. Also those are viable given they are canon truth and Sanji still going do something and also reaching new stage of power being YC lvl.

Post-timeskip has been very weird towards Sanji, showed good sides and the bad sides of him. Comparing DJ to Gear 3 punch also seems pointless, especially when it doesn't really matter when Luffy can do way more. Plus, the two attacks are different, no? Gear 3 punch is a much bigger attack since Luffy makes his hand bigger, while DJ is more concentrated.

Yeah. Some of his good and bad sides work in tandem. His empathy could be seen as a positive but it's also something that requires a lot of plot armor to not be his undoing. For instance, the WCI arc basically required the stars to line up for them to actually escape.

Someone of his power-level not attacking women is a good thing. He'd be a monster if he indiscriminately was an asshole. Yet, that "quirk" put him in the position of putting his other crew members (and the alliance) in danger, as he couldn't defend himself.

The nose-bleed stuff in FI was probably the biggest issue I had with him. It's a cultural thing, too. I spent a good amount of my adolescence in Japan, and I can say that my Japanese friends found that kinda stuff hilarious; The perverted nose-bleed trope. I've never been able to relate to the humor in that part of OP. To me it's just over the top.

Re: What Sanji is going to do in Wano.
I think he's going to opt to both go after Momo and help the 9RS (the two intersect, since Denjiro expressed concern for Momo).

Sanji will likely run across Kanjuro, and defeat Kanjuro while on the way to the live stage.

At the stage - I honestly think he's going to fight Queen. Queen could potentially be the most dangerous person on the enemy side. He uses biological and chemical weapons to do his bidding. I think he's probably not as strong of a fighter as King (or maybe even Jack), but his level of fighting power combined with his knowledge of weapons probably makes him into the Beast Pirates equivalent of Franky. Sanji has typically been better at optimizing strategy with power. If he can take out Queen, he'd actually be doing the alliance more of a favor than if he took out King, since he'd probably be eliminating a lot of the use of unfair weapons.

I mean DJ or at least can compete with his Gears and probably can on Gear 4 on full power scale. Sanji hasn't shown his full power in NW, but yet Oda stated his power was enough to stop attack from Big Mom in SBS and shown that, so he is capable fighter.

You shouldn't compare it to real life on gags to real life especially in culture to Japan as they see it different than Sanji doing something 'bad' when he clear wasn't it. Plus it's justify why he acted that way if your not addressing 2 year timeskip he spent on a island he dislike and didn't see women for 2 years. Not like he just like that for laughs as it was a issue until he got over the situation and is fine more around women. He is not putting alliance in danger since they all came to fight and his reason for his action on female side make sense and it's like Enies Lobby route if you seen this before. You shouldn't take it seriously if we saw this pattern before and know he going to face someone stronger and be on tide of battle?

Sanji is not fighting Kanjuro. Kinemon is back in active. Idk why you guys think he should fight battles personal for someone else when it's more likely he facing King or Queen given hints on them and he does show he can compete given King couldn't harm him early, so it is pushing he be reaching YC lvl this arc. Both are major issues for this arc as they are Calamities for reason so Sanji facing one of them is big feat.

For someone who likes taking away every single feat from teamfights, you're giving Sanji a full feat for something that was a team effort together with Luffy on Gear 3. And somehow, for you, G3Luffy and DJSanji making a joint effort is a full feat for Sanji and it means that DJSanji=FullPowerG4Luffy. Did you forget it was a team effort or are you genuinely this bad at this?

Cause Oda stated in SBS more about his strength to add on it. I wouldn't state it much if Oda felt that strongly to state Sanji's stop Big Mom with her own power.

Want denied Oda's words, up to you since your doing that lately, but you have to talk on Oda on that part. Not also farfetched as we see him blocking King's attack with his leg, so it is shown he is capable fighter.

Oda didn't say anything about that. Oda only addressed that scene to justify why Sanji used Diable Jambe on a woman.

Everything else about that statement from Oda you're just making it up.

Honestly though, that's basically the Straw Hats. Plot armor or luck, they need either to survive. Though on WCI, Sanji didn't need plot armor much, if at all,

Yeah, but his crew members also know what they're getting with him, especially Nami and Luffy. That's why they wanted him back on the crew, and why Luffy admires Sanji. I don't see this quirk as being a bad thing, as it's what sets Sanji apart and what helps win women over, who then somehow save the crew.

Oh I agree, the nose-bleed stuff was completely unnecessary after the second time, and it didn't serve anything but maybe suspense. It wasn't funny after the first time and got annoying.

I don't like the idea of Sanji fighting Kanjuro, he should be the Scabbards' opponent or at least, Kin'emon's opponent. Queen sounds better, especially in a way that saves Momonosuke and even Yamato. I'd love to see Sanji use his wits to beat Queen since it doesn't seem like Queen can go down in a straightforward manner.

What? It took him and Luffy to stop Big Mom's attack, and Luffy alone with Gear 4 was ineffective. Even if Sanji used his full power, he wouldn't do a thing to Big Mom if Luffy couldn't.

I didn't say Sanji beats BIg Mom, but he can harm a Yonko if he can block one like her since Oda stated in SBS it was still his power to stop it. Sanji is like Zoro who are can be support, but they aren't beating Yonkos on their own.

Nosebleed hasn't been used much and reason it was used then was because Sanji hasn't seen women for 2 years and was being chased and on an island not to his liking on their actions. Make sense why Sanji was coming back to society to appreciate women, but at least we can say it didn't continue onward and he starts to act more like pre-timeskip on his how he is.

He did. He said 'You can't stop the punch simply by talking. You stop it with force'. He address Sanji was strong enough to stop force of Big Mom's attack.

That isn't making up. It came from him exactly.

Your denying it now stating it meant something else when he was completely direct saying Sanji with his own power stop it with Luffy. You have to respect that by his own words. Not claims, but your acting more in denial if you don't even accept what he says in SBS now.

That is a feat. He stop King's attack when he was trying to harm Momo and then tanked Full Zoan. Don't denied those as feats when it shows he came back fine and was with crew in front of the enemy. It's still his own body and skill he using to fight as he use Black Leg style. I would agree with you if he change his fighting style, but it still him using his own power.

No he can't. If he could, then he'd have hurt Big Mom with that block, and if Luffy couldn't hurt Big Mom, then Sanji can't either.

She a woman, he won't harm one. Though blocking her attack does show and Sanji can especially there is hints that Kaido could be weak to fire given showing of him with fire attacks which can happen if Sanji does go up with Momo and Yamato with certain others in next group to support Luffy.

You're good at making things up.

So let me get your logic straight:

- Zoro uses santouryu as usual but his feats are not his because he wields Enma (which he trained to use).
- Yet Sanji blocks an attack with his stomach (which has nothing to do with the Black Leg Style) only thanks to his Raid Suit (that anyone, with no training, can wear for defense) and the feat is undeniably Sanji's.

Alright, sounds fair.

She a woman, he won't harm one. Though blocking her attack does show and Sanji can especially there is hints that Kaido could be weak to fire given showing of him with fire attacks which can happen if Sanji does go up with Momo and Yamato with certain others in next group to support Luffy.
There are no hints that Kaido has any weakness to fire. He was even hit with his own boro breath (a fire based attack) and he wasn't really injured. He just overreacts to most attacks. He even screamed when Kidd slamdunked him and I doubt he has a weakness to slamdunks.

Honestly though, that's basically the Straw Hats. Plot armor or luck, they need either to survive. Though on WCI, Sanji didn't need plot armor much, if at all,
One of the worst things OP did, IMO, was allude to some higher power having Luffy's back (I think this happened on Amazon Lily, when he survived the War). It's made a lot of his accomplishments feel superficial. I hate stories where fate is a plot element. It's never been explicitly stated to be in OP, but the Joyboy, opening Wano, etc all seem to indicate that there's at least some form of "fate" involved in the series. Sanji's plot armor on WCI was happening upon Pudding at the perfect moment. I guess it could happen, but I always find that kind of happenstance to be lazy writing. It makes for an exciting chapter though, I guess.

To me, Sanji is like a family friend we had when I was growing up. The guy had a wife and two girlfriends. He was a total sleaze-bag. Horrible human being if you look at him from that angle. The other side to that, though, is that he was the type of person who came through for my family when nobody else would; From helping us move in a situation where movers ghosted us and we had to be out of a home, to putting us up in his highly volatile home after we lost ours for a while in a hurricane. Total shitbag, but also a great person. Lol.

Oh I agree, the nose-bleed stuff was completely unnecessary after the second time, and it didn't serve anything but maybe suspense. It wasn't funny after the first time and got annoying.
Yeah, like I said; It's a cultural thing. I never found pervy guy humor to be that funny. It's clearly different in Japan (just have a look at Fairy Tail and Nanatsu no Tazai). We just do it differently, where I now live, in the USA, I guess.

I wouldn't mind Sanji making quick work of Kanjuro. Maybe he's about to defeat another scabbard / kill them, and Sanji comes in (similar to Blackbeard with Hyannibal in Impel Down) and smashes his head in.

What? It took him and Luffy to stop Big Mom's attack, and Luffy alone with Gear 4 was ineffective. Even if Sanji used his full power, he wouldn't do a thing to Big Mom if Luffy couldn't.
Godspeed.

I disagree because it's still all Luffy and the crew, but we've also been told luck plays a big part, no?

I don't think that's plot armor though? Plus I think Sanji's smart enough to realize something was up if he came across a Reiju that looked bruised but couldn't remember why. He'd probably also have his CoO active during the wedding.

I don't mind the "fate" thing too much, but that's of now. I'm sure I'll be in the same boat as you down the line.

Lol.

Hmm, I don't think Sanji would have multiple s/o though or cheat, but who knows. I think he'd still flirt with other women, and Oda would have his s/o be okay with it or comically show her anger. Whole thing about Sanji is that he's a nice guy, thanks to his mom and Zeff, and when Judge criticized that about him, Luffy saw it as compliments.

Yeah, it's a weird thing to find funny, but then doesn't Japan have a high rate of sexual harassment?

Eh, just doesn't feel right. That's like Zoro beating Diamante instead of Kyros when the fight is personal. But that's just me, I guess.

Godspeed.

I'm experienced with this, as a Naruto section vet and former mod. Plus, I've argued with Hannibal Psyche many times.

You're good at making things up.

There are no hints that Kaido has any weakness to fire. He was even hit with his own boro breath (a fire based attack) and he wasn't really injured. He just overreacts to most attacks. He even screamed when Kidd slamdunked him and I doubt he has a weakness to slamdunks.
Nah, just stating what he said. You want check SBS on what he said if your that confident?

I mean still difference is the uses on them as Enma is stated having it's own abilities and mind of it's own, so hard to say if that was skill or power of sword while RS it doesn't increase your power as his power is still his own or are you thinking 'invisibility' does when never been stated. Sanji still fighting with same Black Leg style and it's a feat on him for blocking attack and tanking it.

It does in those hints as you would think he be resistance more to attack given his body, but isn't as much. I can see fire being harmful to him on his side.
