It's crazy, I was blown at someone doing this towards me this week, like the exact same thing and all. It sucks cause you don't want to hurt people but you end up hurting them by dissing them or falling back from them. No win situation.

I haven't had much (read: practically any) alone time the last couple of months. The wifey has had quite a lot of it, though, and I felt I deserved it as well, for once. So I recently had a work day off. My son was to be at his grandparents' and my wife was gonna work.
Then the wife got sick the night before (throwing up etc. involved) and while I of course felt sorry for her I mostly spent the whole day after bummed because my only alone time in months got cancelled.

Talk about a selfish douche of a husband.

To be clear, I took care of her and "nursed" her back to health etc, all the kinds of things one does when your SO gets sick. But my sub-conscious was mostly bummed out.

Is it an option to talk to her about your need for a time for yourself to recharge and chill, and maybe make some plannings for you out of your house, like a small trip, or visiting a friend/going out with said person, going to a bar to watch same game, etc?

Well we're both very firm on making alone time for us together and on our own, it just hasn't been possible lately for several reasons. But she felt really bad for having "ruined my day" and stuff and of course that wasn't the case. But we're going to have more opportunities for alone time in the time to come now, so my "bummed out"-ness didn't stretch longer than that day.

Also, all I really had planned that day was watching some Oscar nominated films she didn't feel like watching, and now we've watched them all together. So a win altogether (because she liked them, too!).

I used to be like that from getting hurt so many times. What I have learned is, I think you hurt yourself more than you realized when you stay guarded. It keeps you box in out of fear from getting hurt. You'll miss potential great people, feeling left out, and just frustrated with yourself for not being able to connect with others. At the "end of the day", pain will enhance your strength and help you do better next time.

Well, that may be true, but she's always been called Liz. The only place she's called Elizabeth is on her birth certificate.

It's fine. It was changed to Lissa for something. It's complicated and personal.
That's how it was original spelled. I'm changing it back in a few months.
