Nah, the election is already over, biden won (fair and square and by a fraction of a hair). And if it wasn't because trump is a big baby who might barricade himself in the oval office the election would have already been called. What we are witnessing now is just the media and AP coddling the baby in chief. What follows now should be the standard suing for recounts which rarely ever flip results.

I am not sure of what exactly went on back then (and i did say almost). Wasn't it gore who sued for a recount (along with other shenanigans)?

No, Florida was called for Bush, but the margin of victory required a mandatory automatic recount. Some counties were requested to do manual recounts since Bush's lead shrunk after the automatic one, but Gore only picked Democratic-leaning counties. After investigations it was clear that many counties never even did the mandatory automatic recount in the first place but Gore's side never pushed on this front. Eventually the Florida Supreme Court ordered a statewide manual recount but the US Supreme Court stopped it, arguing over which votes were considered legal and which weren't (the whole hanging/pregnant chads business). I think the main issue the court had in it's ruling is there was no clear way how to "fix" this situation, short of there being another election, and they didn't want to set this precedent.

I've seen people bring Bush v. Gore in regard to this election, but it's worth noting that the court stayed a recount then, not the initial count. This is an important distinction, as the legal basis for recounts can be challenged depending on different factors. Those sort of things don't really exist when it comes to the first count though.

I wonder about this as well, but I wonder even more about his "responsibilities" as a former president.

Jimmy Carter is like a hundred years old or so but I can't picture Trump sitting next to Obama, Bush and Clinton at a funeral for example.

Trump is serious about going to the Supreme court for supposed evidence of voter fraud. And Kanye West actually got 50,000 votes. I hope what people take from this is how serious Elections are for local and federal levels. We do need to be more active in politics within the 4 years so we can put pressure on politicians to do better on our behalf. We need to make our candidate choices better in option and not just for ratings grab and social media banter.

Definitely be holding my Senator, Governor, State Representative, District Attorney, etc accountable in my state as well as Biden and Harris at the White House.

I legit hope people will be doing the last sentence, as Biden and Harris aren't the solution, but part of the problem as well. Proven by Biden's opposite to M4A, Biden supporting fracking, and neither supporting defunding/abolishing police.

The short version is that it got called for Bush even tho it came out later that Gore had more votes.
What Gore could have done, if he wanted to, was basically going down the legal route because as vice president, he had unique powers. The legal battle was not over just because the supreme court judgement.

One of his advisors urged him to do it and was ready to do it, but gore did not want to go that far and conceded.
