Damn :PBy far the most overrated character in Fairy Tail.
I'll be honest, it's a shame for me to say that Erza was one of the characters that got me into Fairy Tail...
Way back then, when I started Fairy Tail, I thought Erza was one of the greatest characters... cool and badass...
But that all quickly changed when I learned her attitude and PoF/Nakama Power Speech.
Somewhere along the line, Erza began to develop a cocky and "I am invincible!" type of persona.
If you go back into the series and look carefully, you can see small signs of that kind of attitude in ToH Arc and Oracion Seis Arc.
But Erza's real personality was completely revealed in Tenrou Arc during the Azuma vs. Erza battle.
That battle was the start of PoF/PiS/Nakama battles for Erza all the way to the current arc.
The thing about Erza is that she never knows when to stand down and let others have the spotlight.
She tries too hard to have control, be relevant in every battle, and have a piece of the cake (lol).
Moving on to Alvarez Arc, this arc was when my respect went way down for her. Almost near rock bottom.
I can see that, despite all her talking about trust and friendships, she really is biased towards a few people.
And those people are: Jellal, Natsu, and Makarov
Those are the 3 people that Erza blindly places her faith in without questioning them when it comes to serious situations.
With everybody else, she would act like the boss of when they start to defy her, Jellal, Natsu, or Makarov.
But then, what's new? Erza will keep having the spotlight until who knows when. She will never get off her "Fairy Queen Throne".
In fact, she is hogging the entire throne for herself more than she ever has in the current arc.
She could probably 1v2 Acnologia and END and still survive because all she needs to do is stare them straight in the eyes and say "Begone, vanish my nightmare."

Well i understand most of the points you raised, thus i respect your opinion. However i disagree. I'm one of the few people (xD) that actually like Erza despite her never ending spotlight and her bs fights.
I would understand if you said "i hate Mashima's decision to give Erza too much spotlight". That i would agree with. But Erza doesn't seem to be the kind of character who wants the spotlight and "have a piece of the cake" as you say. That's what Mashima wants. The character itself, isn't like that.
I think i understand what you mean by cocky attitude and arrogance, but once again i disagree. She even stated that she wasn't the strongest (stated that she was weak actually, against Ikagura), and that she didn't wish she was stronger. The only thing she wishes for is to be strong enough to protect her friends. That's also what Natsu desired after Igneel died. That's a recurrent theme in FT, friendship, protect friends, family etc. I see how you could consider thhat arrogance, i think it is not.
She never said anything like "i'm invincible" and never was arrogant. That's your own perception just because you don't like her character, for the points you stated. But despite having a lot of spotlight and despite the PoF, she's not arrogant.
That's my opinion at least. And keep in mind i'm not even an Erza fanboy or anything.
However i agree with you about the absurd faith she puts in Natsu/Jellal. I'm not talking about Makarov because that kind of respect seems normal considering he's FT guildmaster. Her trust about Jellal is biased due to her feelings, so i don't see a problem there either. Unless you blame Erza for being in love.
No, the truth she puts in Natsu is what i agree with you with, mainly. She trusts him even when he's acting stupidly. But yeah, he's he main character so he has quite a lot of special, preferential treatment. I blame that on the plot itself, but i agree with you to an extent.
That's not enough for me to dislike Erza though. In my eyes she's not what you described. In terms of personality i mean, with the arrogance and all.
The huge amount of spotlight she gets compared to the others is another thing, that stems from Mashima's desire. She's one of the main characters after all. It's only natural that she gets more spotlight than Mira (talking about her since they are pictured equal), Laxus, or even Wendy.
In the current arc she got more spotlight than Gray, probably because he's going to have to face very important battles. Other than that her spotlight was ok, even Laxus got more despite his illness.
Yeah dude, i respect your opinion and i can undertand some of your points. But i just disagree. I'm aware that i'll make myself ennemies for saying that (xD) but i actually like Erza.
