Hiro at this point probably wasn't that focused on that plot point. Considering Hiro dropped the E.N.D and Larcade plot points pretty quickly I would say it was more a writers time restraint and decision to focus on the Spriggan 12.

In-universe I assume Zeref was just an idiot and didn't know how to lead or Conquer.

For the most part, I think Zeref did unleash the demons that he created.. well, the strong ones anyway.

The problem was that none of them could match FT, especially by the time Alvarez Arc came around. During Tartaros, most of the 9 Demon Gates were killed, including their leader Mard Geer. If Gray and Natsu could defeat Mard Geer at the time, then they would have no trouble disposing of them again, had they reappeared or somehow been revived.


Not to mention, even among the Spriggan 12, Bloodman and Larcade were both revealed to be demons from the Books of Zeref:

• Bloodman pretty much represented all of the Tartaros demons combined, but he ended up falling to the hands of Gajeel.

• Larcade was also beaten by Sting, Rogue, and Kagura, and was ultimately destroyed by his own creator, Zeref himself.

As far as the Alvarez Arc goes, I don't think that the demons had much more of a role to play in the story. Gray was already a Demon Slayer by that time, so I can't imagine any of Zeref's demons being capable of defeating Gray, with the exception of E.N.D. of course.

And other demons like Deliora and Lullaby were long gone as well by that point.

I personally feel apart from Tartaros not many Demons were alive at that time.

And Zeref probably made his decision to invade Ishgar recently when all most all Demons had died.

And not to mention Ft also grew stronger.

Having a go at an in-universe explanation: I think the idea is meant to be that Zeref is messed up in the head from years of having to think hateful thoughts in order not to kill people - that’s why he’s shown veering between take over the world, and annihilate humanity. It’s honestly not explained all that well though. All the demons were actually created with the intent of killing him, that is their default objective, so it’s doubtful he has control over them in so much as he can give them orders and they will follow - again this isn’t really explained/ explored very thoroughly.

In reality, the story breaks down post Tartaros primarily because Mashima’s, by his own admission, hadn’t planned it in advance. It’s possible he didn’t even really know, or hadn’t fully decided what he wanted Zeref’s aim to be as he was writing it!

His new goal was to change time because the demons didn’t go so well and it was perfect timing to strike for FH. However, the objective was the same: end his sad life.

Mashima either had to end before the final arc or have some sub arcs but I don’t think the publisher gave him that and it was ended with terrible pacing.

Actually Mashima admitted that he wanted to finish drawing Fairy Tail 2 years ago because he wanted to draw something new. So I guess Mashima’s editor wanted him to extend the series just so certain plot points can be resolved which could explain why the last 2 arcs ended up the way they did.

well, mashima said that goes to stop with the drawings when his new series start, should not take too long u.u
we can be grateful for his dedication to us, even if he draws something we do not like, we can not please Greeks and Trojans

Well I hope Mashima starts his new series in April then and then I’ll be very happy.

I think I read somewhere that his next series would be about romance (something like that) I hope not, because in my opinion it would be a little boring

I think Mashima already said he would do romance for his next series back in October. Why do you don’t like Shojos or a series completely focuses on romance?

I’ll keep that in mind.

by my experience with shoujos, if it does not get boring then it gets stressful.
I only like romance when it comes in small parts, when it's a little bonus

Something like Rave.

If it was Seinen,it would have been great but he should write a Dark Shounen like Hunter x Hunter.

He said he will draw only FT until his next manga comes out (possibly October).

After choosing, if you had the choice, between his images of twitter and special chapters (or spin off).

I would like him to do special chapters first, but since he is a war machine if we can have both his suits me XD

But here you have to draw something as much as to make special chapters.

I just thought of something what if Blue Pegasus saved Gildarts’s life after he was attacked by Acnologia since their guild is somewhere in Northern Fiore. Also what if Anna is Mermaid Heel’s Guild Master and for the reason why Kagura didn’t say anything about Lucy being related to Lucy is because Anna told her not to say anything about her to Lucy.

Same here. And she probably named Mermaid Heel after Aquarius so I guess the reveal of who’s Mermaid Heel Guild Master can be resolved in the anime. The same with revealing with happened between Gildarts/Acnologia and who saved him which can be resolved by Gildarts telling Natsu before Natsu leaves to get Lucy to go on the 100 Year Quest.
