I think a more slice-of-life story / a story focusing on different characters (or at least outside of the constricting 100YQ plot), would help him quite a bit.
Yep, that would feet FT so well, bunch of mini arcs about different characters, I was thinking about if Irene would get a body and tryed to do some mother daughter bonding with Erza, Like a mini arc where they are participating in Mother-daughter type festival events. it could been so funny and heartwarming.
What was he saying about Irene?
about Acno, figures, his backstory was reworked and downgraded version of Irenes, Her backstory was written long before her appearance in Manga (Being Erzas mom was the only late addition) and was actually good even enchantment part that WAS IN CHAPTER 1, So it now makes sense why someone liked it and put it on Acno, but that's not how it works, things don't work on every character same, Dumb move on Hiro for allowing it.
According to Google translate, those are initial designs for characters that'll appear in Dead Rock, and the designs might be "slightly" different in the actual manga
I'm never going to forget this OST it was straight up gas, the moment gray appeared with his Des. One of my best moments in fairy tail. Tartaros arc is just on another level, are we sure mashima wrote this arc? Cuz wtf. This arc is so good that ignoring BECAUSE SHE'S ERZA is fairly easy.
Gray killed this arc bro was seriously on that demon time, my man had natsu and gajeel shitting their pants lmao

Aya Hirano (Lucy) will be in the next mashima twitter space, hopefully we will have something about the anime

Who knows, maybe mashima didn't even write that arc, at this point with EZ as proof (I mean, supposedly it would be his best work), it seems that Mashima has always been mediocre, it wouldn't be a surprise if some arc like tenrou, eclipse or tartaros were written by someone else or the editor was heavily involved
FFS Mashima has so much things he can be criticized for that being denied for the things he did right feels kinda mean.
He has clear strengths and weaknesses as a writer, he can set up well an arc and write good character focused stories, he normally trips more on the overall structure and composition of the plot that, because it's rarely planed (or well planed), it tends to be a problem later on.
Tartaros is maybe his best arc but he wrote quite a few good ones before that: Tenrou was pretty good, Tower Of Heaven and Galuna Island are arguably better in terms of how they handle their themes and practically every pre-ts arc had it's positives Oration 6 being shacky at parts and Edolas feeling like the weakest of that era.
GMG is the favourite of a lot of fans despite the flaws and even the final arc (that for long running shonen is practically tradition do be a s**t show either way), still had it's moments.
Tbh if people read his afterwords it's quite obvious he was the one to write these arcs for good and for bad, there's also the fact he wrote Rave Master.
EZ had some very well written moments in the beginning and middle of the story, It has been crashing and burning since the
time skips and more full scale time travel shenanigans
.
Normally what happens with Mashima is that, because of his lack of full scope vision the quality of the arcs can turn into a coin toss. He has fragmented ideas and plans, and even does foreshadowing and good set ups but the bad long term planning makes it so he creates sometimes red herrings and loose plots. When he backtracks character deaths and consequences is also annoying which is kinda ironic since he can be quite good at it when he commits.

Curious, you say that Mashima's problem is the lack of planning, but EZ was planned from the beginning in its entirety (Even before starting this sequel, he said that he had the story fairly planned), according to him, EZ would be better written than FT, but at this point no EZ arc seems to be up to the standard of a series which is listed as "unplanned", he has even said that he doesn't even remember what happened in the previous chapter.
I mention EZ because simply for a series that was planned it is mediocre, not even in Mashima's strengths does the series stand out (characters, relationships, scenario construction)
And at this point, seeing as he's had several editors, writers, and assistants, it wouldn't be unusual for him to have good arcs.
Rave master also has mistakes like irregular rhythm, predictable plot, it's ok, in general it's the best mashima's work at a narrative level but it's also the most boring and the less memorable, not even Mashima seems to be interested in it

I mention lack of plan not to say he never tries but that even when he does he tends to trip quite a bit in that front. I do prefer Mashima's characters and relationships to basically every mainstream (mainstream being the key word, I don't think he's any genius writer or anything), shonen out there, specially if we factor in mangas that have trouble handling their large cast like Naruto or MHA.
FT is his most memorable manga to date ironically because he didn't plan anything long term (or at least nothing was set in stone), apart from scattered bullet points and the pros out weighted the cons.
It wouldn't be unusual but tbh I also don't think he had bad arcs per say for the most part. The last arc was a mess and both Edolas and Oration 6 were shaky for me with their positives, that's it, but there's lots of arcs I particularly like pre- the end of Tartaros.
Rave Master feels unpolished in it's first half but by the end of the manga there's a lot of standout moments with characters that feel more mature than when they started their journey, It also has to have one of the saddest deaths I've seen in fighting shonen. I do think FT is Mashima's best work to date regardless.
Tartaros itself only works as well as it does because it serves as payoff for a lot of characters arcs even if their story doesn't end there. Lucy, Wendy, Gray, Even Natsu then Gajeel, Mira and Laxus also had their moments to shine. A lot of the cast is involved in that arc in general and if they didn't have the attention they had previously the moments wouldn't have has much impact.
100YQ also seems to have more of a plan than the original but it's way more hit or miss. If we take Rave Master of the equation Mashima tanked all of his long planned stories and Even Rave's plot his strengthened mostly due to it's characters.
FT was and is still written weekly to weekly bzw bi-weekly.Hiro dont plan when i comes to FT.Thats why he retcons stuff on the fly-Second half of Alvarez was a total mess.
And 100YQ is overall also a mess.Merc Arc was mediocre but fine for the first Arc.The Aldoron Arc was good.Elentir was a timewaste from start to finish. The Labyrinth Arc was also shit.It was just a shorter and way worse Aldoron Arc,thats a fact.Current Arc is mid at best. The new Villains still didnt bring up the usual hype. They feel like background fodder. This fodder miners had more personalty.GS is carrying this Arc alone @grey matter
The cast carrys the Manga. At least Natsu.Gray on the other hand...
And Elfersia is clearly the biggest dumbfuck in the Manga. He holds back informations and with the Selene disaster for apologizing to her for no reasons...sadly thats another Dragon Acnologia somehow missed to kill

Elfseria is just a cuck lmao, imagine apologizing to a genocidal maniac and the person who killed your friends. That's like saying natsu should apologize to acnologia or any of the villains he's fought

You're joking about Natsu making apologize to Acnologia but you can be sure it's going to happen , remember in the Beta Heaven Ignir said Acnologia is somwhere in the same Beta Heaven, heck it's even begin during their fight when Acnologia was defeated , only one more discussion and hop it's done.

Natsu didn't apologize to his enemies, finding closure what your enemies is different hell natsu didn't even apologize to jellal or laxus elfseria on the other hand outright apologized to selene. What the fuck is he apologizing for
Who will animate YQ100 ???? A1 panel ended and they did not present anything from Fairy Tail, not even among the series that they have animated. Neither did Aniplex, Mappa, wit, etc.
For now only ufotable or kyoani are missing (unless they are Bridge and Satelight)
