Alvarez arc Jellal himself is pretty much featless. His only good feat is one-shotting Neinhart after all.

Natsu and Gray are "portrayed" as rivals but we all know Natsu would stomp.

END was nothing special either. Had little speed, no named spells and their combat was just fist to fist mostly. Gray's whole life mission was to kill END and at his strongest, he couldn't. Regarding damage output, he put the same amount of damage END did.

Gray has never surpassed Laxus and most likely not Jellal.

Jellal could've easily stalemated END as well, it was nothing special. His stats are just as good as Gray's if not better.

Gildarts is still the strongest member. Natsu needs DF to even stand a chance but with it he most likely beats out Gildarts.

It goes DF Natsu>>Gildarts>>Laxus>Erza>=Jellal>Gray=Mira=Gajeel

I really don’t understand how anybody is under that impression? Much like how Laxus no diffed Tempester, who pushed Natsu to LFDM, and was still able to beat him while dying from the bane particles. Laxus was able to utterly demolish a top Spriggan, whereas Gray needed his slayer advantage and a POF.

I recently re-read some of Alverez and noticed that Rouge and Minerva didn't even beat Wahl and Bloodman, Neinhart was beaten. Wahl is a middle of the park Spriggan, he has extremely versatile magic but he's no Lacrade, August or Irene.

Only because the fact the editors wanted it cut out. Mashima was clear in the afterward and interviews that his original intent was for Laxus to put Tempester down.

Wahl was literally the heavy on two seperate teams of Spriggan. His, in his own words, much weaker clone was the vanguard of the attack on Magnolia. An then he’s also the vanguard of the attack on Hargeon. An he’s also able to do use a full power Etherion effortlessly. One of the few Spriggan with such a feat shown.

Gray’s showings in Tartaros drove home just how impressive his attack abilities are against demons. END is a demon. An it’s quite obvious his Slayer advantage is the reason he performs so well against END.

Gray was matching Natsu in physical combat. Yes, his attack power is buffed, but on everything else he was keeping up. This is in stark contrast with Mard, who was stomping Gray inspite of his advantage. Mard was several tiers ahead of Gray, which was why Gray couldn't even touch him. While in Alverez, he was in Natsu's tier, since he was matching Natsu in everything.
The fact that a proper attack, albeit off guard, took down Mard, who was several tiers ahead of Gray at the time...........while Gray couldn't take down END who was in his tier (stronger, but definitely in his tier), proves that Gray didn't have the same slayer advantage he had against Mard or Tempesta
