I watched it today and have mixed feelings now. I was very eager to watch the traile with the original voices dub. Yes it feels nice to hear them on actual humans but I unexpectedly have a cringy feeling because I couldn't sync the image and the voices in my head. And without any doubt, technically considered, the lip sync is terribly bad.

Dude I get being worried or cynical, but this is such a shit stance to have if you're a fan of a thing.
What the hell are you talking about? Godoy seems like the least hateful person I've ever seen on a screen lol, he pretty perfectly embodies what makes Luffy Luffy. That notorious hermit Oda invited him into his office and hugged him ffs
On top of that, his physical appearence and character in general matches Luffy quite good.

I liked everyone. Only Luffy felt a it off to me at times but that's because they definitely don't want him to be the exact same character.I watched it today and have mixed feelings now. On the other hand, if you consider that Oda created these characters based on different ethnic and cultural backgrounds, isn't it perhaps better if we decouple ourselves from the One Piece anime and review this as a new and unique live action adaptation of the manga? Honestly, Godoy has his own quality in his voice giving life to Luffy. The other characters too. With the Japanese dub I feel like a third, unsuited radio signal interfering in my brain.

One more point: Here we can see how important it is for the actors to open the mouth properly when they speak! Just look at Buggy's scene at 1:27 where the lip sync fits perfectly. Okey he is screaming but look at the whole trailer with this in my mind and you'll notice what I mean in general.

It's not like the voices didn't suit the actors. I don't know, somehow whenever I hear the anime voices it's like their animated image pops in my mind an interferes with the live action characters. And the bad lip sync strengthens this weird feeling.
I may be the only one in the world, but what can you do? To me that ass face just inspires the desire to slap him.
We have two different conceptions of knowing how to draw.

I've had so many slapfights on this site in my long tenure since 2006- ask basically anyone that recognizes me.
Also I'm not sure if you know how to draw or not but Inaki's draftsmanship isn't bad at all, so you really went the extra mile and were not just wrong about personal taste, but technical skill. Good lawd.
