Naaah. It's entirely legit to be worried about a potential sellout of your favorite media, hence why this is a justifiable position - there can be no sellout in case of a flop.
Out of all the very valid criticisms to have toward america- trust me, I've got truckloads of them- justifying your personal distaste of something that isn't out yet as some morally correct stance is bonkers-brained. "OPLA is cultural imperialism", good fucking lord.

As a line cook, hearing Zeff say that felt like a dagger to the heart. I love that Baratie doesn't have a dedicated FoH, and instead relies on its incredibly belligerent hornet's nest of a BoH to wait tables, that is wild.I like that scene, sanji and zeff
There's something in the air lately, honest to god.
The people in here claiming that it's just a few people have very obviously not seen the rest of the greater community lately. Shit kirosh over on reddit had to sticky a post to the current spoiler thread addressing exactly this. Thousands of big babies justifying explosive personal disappointment tantrums via moral arguments like they're fucking shareholders that are contractually obligated to get their free comic on an arbitrarily timely basis. "I'd never have read ASOIAF if I knew GRRM was never going to finish it" is an attitude I keep seeing, to which I have to say 1) Does it suck we'll never get a conclusion? Sure, but GRRM was never morally obligated to satisfy you as a consumer, and 2) wow it's a good thing Oda isn't GRRM or even in the same solar system when it comes to inconsistent artistic output.

As much as I overreact sometimes, this is still some what exceptable. What I am afraid of is another Rings of Power. Where people never talk about Tolkien before the show came out or after the show came out. That they claimed themselves as fans and make 100 of toxic videos. And then the people who were fans who talk about Tolkien before the show came out and after it came out. Those people who reviewed the show. And said well here are the good things about the show, here are the many many many disappointment and bad parts of the show. But because they don't go 10000% negative, and tying into this broader politics of white replacement, woke taking over, blah blah. The authentic fans became labeled as corporate shills. While the other people who are more of a hate watching fans of Rings of Power (because it is their bread and butter and how they made money), who secretly want the show to continue so they can made another 1000 more vids, they now became the real fans.
Nope, this is cultural imperialism. You don't own definitive authority over terms long discussed out in social sciences, so don't mistake them for my personal tastes.

Dude I know what the term means. Couching your opinion about OPLA from this moral high horse is patently absurd. Out of all the problems america has with cultural appropriation, I can't think of anything further down the list than OPLA and you're acting as if it's a cornerstone issue to be judgey about.
