I'm pretty much same boat. I'm used to repeating/stretching things out with small filler scenes due to the weekly nature of the show. However, I equally dislike the poor choreo with things like the bolo breath bouncing back. It felt like they forgot fundamentals when animating that.Repeating animation and non-canon stuff like the sky splitting I don't mind nearly as much since it can be edited out easily in fan projects like One Pace. What I cannot stand is bad choreography. The boro blast reflect is one of my favorite parts of the whole fight in the manga and it just doesn't really exist in the anime.

I was able to understand what was happening in that scene (and could even without knowing the manga) but there were a few things that I think caused it to be confusing:I honestly wonder if this is a left brain vs right brain thing because this seems to be the biggest crux of the episode. 50% of views didn't know what was going on while the other 50% went absolutely wild over it.
I was able to follow it with easy and I for the life of me cannot understand where the confusion is. My buddy told me he had no idea what was going on, like it looked like alot of nonsense. He had to watch it a 3 times to see it lol
Outside of the sky splitting, Luffy moon walking down to lift the earth wall up to deflect the Boro breath was my favorite part of the episode
- When the bolo breath hit the rubber floor, they didn't provide a side angle to make it clear the wall stretched back (this would have been clearest way to do it)
- In the scene they show the bolo breath push the wall from behind. However, the color stayed the same as if the bolo breath went through the wall. They should have kept the wall color to show it was being stretched back
- The camera angle zoomed in and out very quickly during that scene making it very easy to miss the one front angle where the wall gets stretched back

The theme definitely is more elaborate than I was expecting. I originally assumed it would be a very basic beat using literal heart sounds and nothing else. However, I do like the direction they went with it. The theme right now makes me think of monkeys, jungles, adventure (something like playing a Donkey Kong game). And considering Nika is based on monkey king and Luffy is also monkey themed I felt it makes a lot of sense and works for the transformation. They have done it differently but I'm still happy with what they did do.I am kinda surprised at the theme they went with the drum's of liberation in the anime. Luffy's heart is a full one one man... heart party. I suppose thematically it makes sense but it still feels like too much. In my head it was more of a simpler jazzy beat. If this is going to play in the background every time luffy fights with his awakening... TBH it sounds way too annoying.
