I caught up today with all onepiece anime and manga. The wano arc writing is absolute dogshit, The first half was very good though, I was really enjoying it up to the point where they were sailing to onigashima. It went dowwn hill after that. The kaido fight is the worst fight i have ever seen in my life. It was painful to watch.

Imo, I feel that the recent power up that Luffy had "Sun god nika" ruined his combat character for me, The constant laughter is so annoying and the design is absolute eye sour, It has little to no complexion. Don't get me wrong though, Luffy is my favorite character and i would like to see him getting love. But Luffy end game fights always been emotional and i can't imagine how Luffy would laugh like that when he face a personal opponent like Akainu or Blackbeard who is violating his garp now. It would be weird if an emotional fight was turned into a laughing stock. An asspull at its finest but still better than any of Zoro's hard random asspulls. At least it had little explanation.

No it's an opinion lol

It's one thing to dislike something, for example I also disliked the episodes where the was heavy used of the coloured auras. It's another thing to market that opinion as a fact, because the fandom is clearly split in whether they enjoy the animation style(s) used in OP or not.

You're just lacking in imagination. I mean, think about it: Bugs Bunny with auras!

I think TB was a step down and that it’s when the animation started getting cheap at times, and that since then it has varied between barely ok, cheap and overdone.

I've always assumed Post-TS so far has probably been closer to about six months if we assume travel times, intermediary arcs, and not-shown stops/adventures/etc. but yeah the actual time length of each arc is always hyper-compressed.

Right, 6mo is still low but at least somewhat believable. 2mo with travel time would be ridiculously low given how far SHs have come along in that period.

Lol out of all the issues to have with G5, I've always found this the most laughable. It's like some people want Luffy to continously harden emotionally until he's a callous of a protagonist on a mission to bla bla bla. Personally I see his potential clash with Akainu to be WAY enhanced by G5's absolute absurdity vs his stoic bullshit. And "peoples' dreams never die" meeting its logical conclusion against G5 is also on point.

That said... the linework for the G5 design is fine, but "all white" is just kinda fundamentally bad. There needs to be a contrasting value somewhere to break up the uniformity.

Just finished it. It was so good and had enough slow animation people won't get lost.

Seeing Kaido completely out of his element makes ne so curious as to how events unfold because how the hell can ANYONE fight against G5.

I mean Luffy straight up turned into Kizaru at one point during the episode

It's gonna be all about haki is my guess. Like maybe a person who's better with haki than even Kaido can limit the effect on themselves

Alternatively we may just need someone who is also silly like Luffy that can not be mentally effected by the pace of G5

One thing the anime has me wondering is who can hear the drums of liberation? I had assumed in the manga others aside from Zunesha could hear them but doesn't seem like it. Wonder if it takes knowing and believing in Nika to be able to hear them

Could also just be his literal heartbeat and Zunesha just has that good of ears being a giant elephant and with giant ears is all

The Nika form having laughter was in character. Luffy thought the fight was a joke. However, that means Luffy was not being himself. Luffy also defeated Kaido in a logical way. I want e verybody to know that he killed him logically. However, I guess Luffy will take his next fight seriously unless the manga remains a total joke, but that could result in the story being even worse.

Gear 5 abilities do make sense for the series.

There are future villains like Akainu or Blackbeard, and I don't want Luffy to overcome their abilities with just Haki.

He has to with Blackbeard because the latter uses yami yami which leaves Luffy with haki as his sole weapon of offense

Unless, G5 converts yami yami into a black balloon gimmick. It could be a hard counter.

The hard counter to Yami Yami no mi is aCoA. BB's ability to negate DF powers is pretty limited if he can't actually make physical contact. With that in mind (1) using COO/aCOO to avoid BB grabbing you as much as possible, (2) using aCoA when he will grab you to avoid physical contact, especially when he pulls you in with his powers, (3) using aCoA+aCoC to guard/counter in the case of being grabbed to limit duration and potentially avoid any damage while doing damage yourself.

Tbh I no longer think BB is as hax as I used to since all he has is his strong DF powers. He hasn't shown any godly mastery over them nor has he shown it with haki.

Grabbing singular frames is a bit unfair - I say that fully hating that episode. It's just like how if you take a ton of pictures of someone in rapid succession, you can find one that is very unflattering of them no matter how attractive they may be.

I would definitely describe it as "the MOST animations" a lot sooner than I would describe it as "the BEST animations".

One might even call it an animation of all time.

I truly don't think we've had arcs with better animations that this overall, at least I can't think of any.

The first couple of Wano episodes already had better quality than what we'd previously seen in past arcs.

Add to that episodes like:

1. 982, 957-958, 972, 995, 1000, 1015, 1017, 1044, the Zorro and Sanji episodes, Law and Kidd Vs BM, Yamato Vs Kaido.

I don't even think it's a contest.
