I don't claim there's a 100% fixed pattern. I'm just holding Oda to a high standard which he presumably holds towards himself as well, in having better character writing instead of worse character writing. I certainly don't want him to write characters worse, and would want him to write them as best as possible. lol

Up untill now I don‘t see any bad or worse than anybodyelse character writing when thinking about Yamato. So far she had little screen time, still an overall mysterious background (regarding her mothee and her birthplace) and thus currently a lot of unused potential for deeper character development. Also Oda hinted at her getting along well with the crew. And if you want to argue that her leaving Wano would be selfish, leave it to Oda, he will easily come up with a solution for this issue.

Oh and Sanji getting eye attacked by Saturn, reminds me of Ivankov.
I hope Oda has plans to make Sanji really strong and not keep him like a 3rd wheel. Waiting for some monstrous tests.

And I'm waiting for the Hancock, Yamato joins to the official strawhats and maybe Marco. As I'm guessing the Strawhats will eventually make contact with Weevil.

Interesting Shanks and Greenbull had contact and shown to be opposites in style. And one captured Weevil and the other captured Loki.

Oh and I know Zoro is a swordsman and the theme technically just fits with Zoro and Mihawk but is it possible Luffy and Lucci taking on Kuma an indicator that Kuma is actually stronger than Mihawk. He was the original second in command under Dragon.

These last couple of chapters all but confirm that Sanji is going to be comparable to Scopper Gaban and will be a force to reckon with. Egghead literally had him destroy Kizaru's (an admiral) laser through physical force, which, given the reaction of Kizaru, Vegapunk, and Franky, is a feat that was thought to be impossible.

He's never been a 3rd whell and there is no need for Oda to plan to make him really strong. He is really strong. Those seeds were already planted in Wano (for Zoro and Luffy as well). At this point, we just need to sit back and enjoy the show. The only real thing to worry about is how Oda plans to write around them being as strong as they are.

We had what the equivalent of 6 admirals attacking simultaneously on Egghead.

Not even the Roger Pirates could have won without help.

Yamato def set up to reunite with the Straw Hats soon given what Caribou is doing. Blackbeard may even steal Pluton, giving even more reason for Yamato join up with the Straw Hats in an attempt to get it back.

A random thought just crossed me: I'm kind of really fucking annoyed that Shinobu was never recognized formally as a Scabbard. Especially after Kanjurou's whole reveal. She did more to keep Momo alive than most of the Scabbards combined. I don't even remember if *any* of them said a damn word of thanks to her after Onigashima.

That's a good point. I wonder if Oda just kinda forgot that he made her a Scabbard after Oden's death. She got, what was essentially, Kine'mon's blessing to join up while they were fleeing, but she still never felt apart of the group after that little moment.

I understood she was never a Scabbard. She was never part of that home group Oden had built up since she was elsewhere. I always saw her as more like an ally like Hyogoro and Yasuie.

IIRC she was part of the Oniwabanshu but defected from said group out of admiration and loyalty to Oden. She became a self proclaimed retainer of Oden IMO, and I‘d say she is one of Momo‘s Scabbards in case he ever chooses to adopt the name from his grandfather’s and father’s era and use it for his own retainers.

I just remember the scene where Shinobu asks Kinemon to let her be a retainer and Kin answers her that they all are self proclaimed retainers and thus she became one as well, and I agree with@zetsu banned it feels like a blunder that she never got officially recognized as one of the Red Scabbards. But I‘m under the impression that Momo is well aware of her loyalty and value as one of his retainers.

I mean, Ulti didn't exactly make herself favorable to Yamato either by attacking her back then.

Also, Tama may even convince Yamato to not have Ulti join her, since she attacked Tama as well.

Well if Yamato is willing to forgive them, I imagine that would give Momo enough trust to go with Yamato’s decision then. Otherwise, I can see an argument coming with Momo, maybe even with Tama too.

I think it should work over the common foe trope. In this case Who‘s Who, ultimately as we already discussed Blackbeard on a Wano invasion maybe.
