Oda and I went to a bookshop in Hibarigaoka on the release date of OP volume 1.
Both of us raised our fists in triumph when we saw a reader bought the volume. After that, we held a meeting. Such an innocent days.

When I received color spreads from Oda, I always wondered why he had time enough to draw in detail.
The mystery solved when I saw him drawing a color spread in "Jump Ryu". Oda is incredibly fast at drawing with his pen!!

Oda's favorite food is "MEAT". He always bought beef bowls (a bowl of rice topped with cooked beef and onions).
Even after he stayed up all night, he devoured a beef bowl... I thought he looked exactly like Luffy.

Here is my translation of Oda's comments full version which Luffy's VA read aloud:

"Are you guys enjoying Jump Festa?
I'm Piko-Taro Oda. I play a role as an author in ONE PIECE.
I'm watching this OP Super Stage and smiling somewhere in this venue, so don't search for me. (laugh)

By the way, my audience and Hirata-san (Sanji's VA) used to claim that Sanji should appear in manga more around this time last year.
Sanji appeared much this year, right? Despite that, some audience complain, "That's enough!!" (Luffy's VA shouts) You guys are selfish!! (laugh)

Things do not always go as you wish. I feel sympathy with you, but please trust Straw Hats! From now is the time for Shonen manga to shine.
I'm planning a great developments such as Whole Cake Island, Reverie and Wano next year! Keep up with ONE PIECE, everyone!

The story of ONE PIECE will be just more awesome next year as well! Don't miss it!"

You know, all this time I've just been thinking so much about Wano that the Reverie had completely passed me. I can't have been the only one though.

So my hopes for that mini arc ( as I don't see it being especially long) are as follows

• Discussion about dangerous individuals and organisations; hopefully the SHs name will come up and we'll see Fishman Island, Dressrosa, Alabasta and Sakura Kingdom stand up for them.
• Blackbeard's ambushing the Revolutionary Army's base will surely come up; most leaders will be glad that Dragon was attacked but my guess that wiser ones will conclude that this doesn't change much in that it just makes Blackbeard an even bigger threat, even if its not to them directly.
• Who will side with Fishman Island's hopes of coming to the surface and being finally accepted? I think this will be the biggest talking point there.
• I hope we get to see a more detailed look of Marijoa; it's ports( how exactly ships get from the bottom of the Red Line to the country), the town, WG establishment, the Tenryubito( maybe some our heroes' friends will come across slaves within the cities) and maybe get the names of the Gorosei too?

Anyway, for now this is what I've got. Can't wait to see how much of this actually comes to fruition.

I don't care about the parodies of ONE PIECE in Gintama. I appreciate it. What bothers me is this collaboration autograph.
I have been asked many times to draw collaboration autographs for many mangas, but I totally can't imagine a scene such as Gin-san and Luffy putting their arms around their shoulders.
I'd like to decline this collaboration offer.
This is the first time for ONE PIECE to decline a collaboration with other mangas. (Oda says in this autograph, "I decline this collaboration.""コラボ拒否")
That being said, Sorachi-san, Gintama's author, is a mangaka whom I can respect since he works with his manga so seriously.
I can respect him despite him having started his career as a mangaka later than me.
I'd like to praise him more, but I don't do it today since too much praise from me might be an interference with his work. I respect you.

Oda-sensei is just like Luffy. He is at his full speed to become Pirate King in the ocean named Weekly Shonen Jump.
I thought Oda-sensei doesn't care about me at all since I'm just a fodder pirate who makes a living from fishing in a corner of East Blue using the tip of my dick as a fishing rod.
I'm shocked to see Oda-sensei mentioned words such as Gintama and Sorachi. On top of that, he is familiar with how to handle Gintama.
I feel as if Oda-sensei has eaten fish I caught with me, saying, "I'm hungry!"
I'd like to say, "Is it really OK? I caught this fish via my dick..."
This Oda-sensei's autograph and his words are more precious treasures than ONE PIECE (as a great treasure) for me. Thank you so much."

If this video means Luffy's will be keeping his new toothless look. I'm very disappointed. It makes him look simple minded.......I know he is.....but the toothless look dosent add depth to his character.

I'm of the opinion the tooth will only grow back once Sanji has returned to the crew and they've successfully left the island.

I doubt it's something Oda will keep forever. We've seen many a time Luffy lose his teeth as part of some random gag but you'd have to correct me if he's lost it before during a fight.

Oda's interview got released in TV show in July last year. Now full version (40 minutes) is available in Film Gold Golden Limited Edition.
My copy arrived a few days ago, so here is my summary of his important quotes. A few quotes might be duplicates of my previous summary in July.

- When I was a kid, I used to love the anime titled "Vicke Viking", especially the scene in which the protagonist declares, "I'll go on a voyage with my dad tomorrow!"

- I decided to make OP serialization come true when I was in junior high school.

- I thought I can finish OP within 5 years.
Whenever I come up with new characters, I can't help making them appear in manga.
I feel all of them have their own lives and thus the serialization has become long.
I keep in mind that I should put my new interesting ideas into manga when I come up with them. Otherwise, it would be impolite to my audience.

- My view on value has been changing. It can influence my manga, but the final scene won't change.

- I'm not sure why so many people love ONE PIECE. I think I have been just lucky.
Not only my manga but also OP anime have been contributing to it. Especially, "Strong World" had an unexpected strong impact in terms of popularity.

- I want to watch films every week if possible. I love black-and-white Jidaigeki and foreign films.
I watch recent popular films as well, but I rarely go to theaters unless the films are super-popular since I'm busy.
The last time I went to a theater was when "Star Wars" got released. I thought I must go to a theater.

- Just because I can't come up with a suitable name for a character, I sometimes spend 1.5 days on drawing rough drafts.
- I have my assistants come to my studio early so that I can work harder and harder. Diversion is an excuse for laziness.

- Whenever I submit ONE PIECE chapters, I'm always confident that the chapters are interesting.
- Oda has been writing notebooks which contain his ideas about OP. The pacing is about 3 weeks per one notebook.

- I'm not interested in romance mangas, but it doesn't mean I hate them.
- I keep in mind about poetic justice (rewarding good and punishing evil) when wrapping up stories.
Empathizing enemies would not make audience feel fine after reading stories. Those mangas would be for adults.
I don't write complicated stories. I just want my audience to feel fine after reading ONE PIECE when they have bad days in real life.

- ONE PIECE is a story which myself as a kid can be satisfied.
There is a story I hate, but I don't mention the title since it is so popular around the world.
I hate it because it entertained me a lot but disappointed me in the end. ONE PIECE is a story which everyone will feel fulfilled in the end.

*Perhaps the story Oda hates is "Wizard of Oz" since he mentioned it in the interview between Momoko Sakura in "Omedetou" in 2014.

Erinyes posted it here in the Mega Convo thread. From sandman's summary on AP, it just says Reverie and Wano, not then but I think the majority assume it'll be in that order since we've already the move towards this meeting has begun. You can take your discussion about it there, I posted some points about it last month.

That's what I remembered it being. I think WCI --> Wano will be like the transition from Dressrosa --> Zou, but more equalized in chapter length.

The move toward Reverie started way back in Fishman Island. I guess I just assume the Mosshat/Strawhat pirates have to meet up before the Yonkou War and/or Reverie take place. Either/both of those events will have way more impact if they have the whole crew.
