This is completely off topic but I had a day of reminiscing about the OP world and Marineford. One of the most understated pieces of work is Aces story and Whitebeard. How they became family and how they were burried side by side... It actually got me teary thinking about it.
Not to mention how Ace was the son of the only man WB could not best. While Ace hated his father, he came to love his rival as a surrogate. Simple but a beautiful story.
Even Dragon and Sabo, guy picked up the wrong son
Edit: Another one which was extremely short and IMO very underrated is Sengoku and Corazon. The fact that only one person knew about their relationship... Oda, you beauty!

You're right; but Ace's story (including his relationship with Whitebeard) is even better in the novels published in OP Magazine, as it goes into even more details. I know it's written by someone else but all the story ideas and key points are approved by Oda. If you've never read them, you should check it out as it fleshes out Ace's character a lot more and it includes his meeting with Shanks, fighting Jinbei and of course his early days with Whitebeard.
There was a 2 hour special of the japanese show Honmadekka!? TV, where the crew visited Oda at his house to talk about the series and tour his place. A lot of information covered during the show most fans would already be familiar with ( stuff that Oda had mentioned in past interviews or things we've read in databooks, etc) but there were some interesting stuff.
Currently there's not subbed version of the video, but you can watch the original version HERE.
Here's a summary of the information we got from the show. (As always, you'll notice that Oda's face is always hidden by picture of Luffy. He doesn't show his face in public anymore, for those that didn't know):
(credits to ScotchInformer and EMUNOPLA@AP for collecting the various tidbits)
One Piece will not end in 100 Volumes , the series is still going on .
Oda : One Piece is close enough to the end . The story is at 80%
He knows the end but building it or reaching to it does not know yet
The show cut Oda's answer about the most popular character that he did not expect to be .
Oda : The doctor said I do not exercise and my blood circulation is not good , I Keep up the work until late morning , I eat a little or I will get sick ( Diabetes ) , and I did not decide how to reach the end of the story yet
Oda work place is fully shown for the first time .
A part of Oda face is shown in the show .
Oda believes that Takuya Kimura gives OP the chance to be more famous around the world.
Oda has a bar called "Shinji Shimizu" in his house, as he is the original producer of One Piece, and he feels he owes him.
Oda reads mangas like Kingdom, Jojo, Hunter, Dragon Ball, and Vagabond.
In the waiting room at Jump Festa 19, Hara the author of Kingdom Manga drew Chin (The Main Character of Kingdom), and next day, Eiichiro Oda came and added Luffy's body:
Oda’s workplace is attached to his house
Oda has about 10 assistants
When he’s concentrated working, he needs total silence and doesn’t even speak
He said the One Piece is not going to be about “family”, or something that the Strawhats will “find inside themselves” like the end of the Wizard of Oz. Meaning it’s gonna be a real reward (he had already said this in an interview years ago)
They ask him if Ace is ever coming back to life and he says no
Oda sleeps from 9 to 12 in the morning. His staff sleeps from 5 to 12 in the morning.
If someone predicted the end of One Piece, would he change it? Yes, he would.
He was planning to do Amazon Lily later in the story, but then decided to do it earlier before his daughter went to school (I understood it's so that she would avoid pervy comments but I'm not 100% sure). To add on he mentioned that he’s scared that his child will find out after she went to school that he’s been drawing “that kind of things”. But his kid actually like Hancock to the point of bringing her figure to the hospital. His kid even said “ Dad, you like breast right!”, Oda said he has nothing to lose now lol
Someone ask if Oda’s wife is the model for Nami, he said no. Oda: But mangaka only draw those that they like, so Nami is becoming more and more like my wife.
Both Toriyama Akira(DB author) and Inoue Takehiko(Slam Dunk author) had been on the mini train in Oda’s house!!
Oda’s doctor also told him that if he doesn’t exercise more, he’ll die
Some professionals examine and stated that even tho rubber can be extended longer by heating it, it’s impossible for Luffy to extend it that long. Also that scientifically the strawhat can only be wore for 4 years.
Oda’s response: YesYesYes, I get it.
They also showed all the crazy stuff he has in his house.
Has a shark mounted in his toilet.. walls and light make it look it it's in ocean and the crane machine.
Has a real size terminator figurine. And tons of others.
Has 100 inch TV.. had to break a wall to get it in.
He showed the color spread we got in the latest manga.. so this might be a few days old at most.
Kimura Takuya (Japanese actor) was doing the barbeque at his home like he's his personal chef.
Oda's name and the name of the TV show are now the top Twitter trends worldwide! A lot of people were watching this!
We all read the arc and we all got our own opinions about it. Some people liked it, some people didnt. No need to enforce one opinion just because you think people "didnt understand" the arc. Everyone understood it in their own way.
If you want facts whether minority or majority finds it good/bad arc you can make a pole in different websites and compare results, without that you can only assume.
I am willing to bet anything that Hawkins > PageOne anytime.
Whoa, KKCK just said that about Katakuri? Yeah few people are really overacting on WCI when you understand what is going on in context and words and it's hardly bad, but one of the best arcs in NW, maybe even the series itself so far.
I get that, but not into the misguided direction on few saying 'WCI is the worst arc and Oda killed Sanji's character' when those aren't true. As many already speak out more on why it was like that and why it is still good. From looking at Youtube, Reddit, Twitter, and so on. Majority understand and enjoy it than those who hate it and right now looking to be on the majority side when backlash is actually by miniority and by 'certain' group of people making it seem large when it wasn't.
Idk, If Hawkins was in the the Top 6, why he wasn't debut as one of them? That means Hawkins power isn't judge to be good enough for Drake and Page One to be in it as otherwise he would have been apart of them. Though not saying difference is huge gap as Hawkins is close in power to Drake and Page, but still position speaks in the end.
Hopefully, the fight doesn't get off-panneled, and we get to see how frightening and menacing he (Sanji) becomes.
The time is right for the entire crew to be on another level.
Don't think so, but if it is, don't think it be a issue as that actually make Sanji strong if he come out of it next screen with him uninjured while Page got a serious beatdown lol.
It is, feeling with so many enemies especially Big Mom and her crew here and probably Marines are coming too, everyone is going to fight someone as I so no reason who will be left out from the fray at this many fights and different groups.
Not really. Just 'certain' guys poorly not understanding the arc and were thinking in another way it would go. Oda was working on his character more than sake of fights when it was a more Impel Down arc. That's like saying Ace is weak cause he couldn't do much while waiting Luffy to save him when we know he stronger than he looks. It's about setting tone and direction. Thinking Oda is doing character's assassination is poor judgement about it.
Other websites already explained the arc and how it was and make sense the situation. Those who think it's poor are minority at best, but don't speak if majority of fans in the end.
]
The only ones who talk badly are within Zoro fans due to characters' rivalry. Majority of fans understand the WCI Arc and love Sanji still. It was something already explained and wasn't blown out of proportions that level on Sanji's character. The issue many wanted to see more fights when in the arc it wasn't set up for a full fight with Big Mom's group due to them lacking more people. Plus it been explained in the arc why they were there and not for a big confrontation that much. The moment where Luffy couldn't damage Big Mom shows what the arc would be and it wasn't time to face her or others just yet.
Though some still thought it would happen in the end. More fault on them for not understanding context than Oda's.
I don't think so. Oda just said Page is Top 6 Headliner and equal to Drake as both are members as well hinting more stronger than Hawkins who isn't even top 6 at all.
Sanji beating him wouldn't fodderize him as Oda already hype him up as strong as can be with who he is and around. It takes nothing away with him winning. Plus Idk Zoro fans will do that much cause that make Zoro weaker by comparison who got damage by Hawkins who isn't even Top 6, so would backfire on them harder especially Zoro so far hasn't been doing much since the fight and not really hype much on his travels compare to group and Sanji's situation.
Your overreacting on the fan base as if you think Sanji is hated or no one cares for him, then popularity polls speak differently especially website still talking positively about him. Those that were bashing were in minority as they bark loud to make it seems everyone was upset with him and Oda when not really. It happens before with other situation, but it's not as bad as one think on situation.
Kind soul I do not agree with your argument nor its structure.
WCI was an epic arc with many tasty tid bits. However I do believe the arc just sucked with what seems to be the majority of readers. That's just people's opinion and we should all enjoy the beauty of such diversification.
On the author's literary navigation of the character the cake baker:
By developing his back story and over sexulizing his traits the author has humanized and emasculated the character. Arguments against this are in the thousands. But that's because it's ART.
No one is right no one is wrong.
Now if you feel like somehow people are reading the arcs wrong. That's just plain short sighted. It's impossible to get multiple people to see the same thing from the same picture. Let's all remember it's ART

Again, I understand your feelings, but those aren't really fact of the community.
From what I am seeing in other websites and threads, majority still enjoy it and see it as the best arc so far in NW and perhaps one of the best of the series. It's not really that heavily bad and many even those who were against came to understand what the arc was really like. Joy Boy, Mr. Morj, Craftsdwarf, etc. did full reviews on the arc fairly and understand it's purpose to which majority agree with them. The arc by no means were bad or even hurt Sanji, it help emphasize his character and show more than just fighting (Even though he shown instances of his strength many times in the arc, but those who complain choose to ignore it).
I agree with there is no right and wrong depending on opinion, but it has to be sensible about it. Those were saying Sanji was done as a 'fighter' when that wasn't true as he is fighting in this arc as last chapter shows. Minority who complained only saw more about fights and think the arc as all-out fight arc when it was impossible given the situation especially Luffy was showed at the time, he wasn't ready for Big Mom yet. While I understand where you getting at, those who were complaining about and reasons aren't 'factual' and being fair on how to critic it.
Like how you keep saying 'cake-baker' cause your upset over events and think he was done fighting too. Idk your feelings, but that kinda petty, don't you think? Not hating on you, just saying as you seem to be holding grudge due to not living up your own expectations when you should have known through how Oda was working it. No disrespect to ya, but just hard to take in your account with how you been since.

He bakes cakes.....when the crew was all but fighting a whole Yonko aboard the sunny he was BAKING A CAKE.
His name is "the cake baker" because thats what he does when the times get tuff.
Nothing diabolical about it. He will be called by what he does. Prior too WCI he was a badass lady loving no nonsense food prep all blue seeking pirate chef named *beep*. Until Oda writes that again, his name is the cake baker.
Hope Oda gave him that suit so he can write about that character again. Since time skip the writting has been about a cake baker.

Your post implies that only those who liked that arc are factual and correct and fair while those who didnt like it are wrong...
That's just not the case and not how it works. We all understand what the arc was about and still many dislike it.
That arc was far from good in my opinion and I understand it very well. From terrible pacing to no fights for Sanji while stretching Luffy between 3 fights while all 3 were not satisfying for this or that reason, going in circles, too much focus on Puddings split personality, unresolved threats towards east blue and Fishman island...
I understand the arc perfectly and I dont like it at all.
My opinion is exactly that - my opinion, some will agree with it and some wont, same thing with those who liked the arc - not everyone agrees with them and it doesnt make them right/wrong.

See, that where you prove my point. Your saying fighting was the only and sole solution when Luffy couldn't even decked her and everyone was surviving. No amount of fighting even together would bring her down. That's why Jimbei said prepare to abandon ship, that's why Chopper was desperate to sink himself with her, and so on. Nothing in any way or form would have made a difference if Sanji was there to fight with them. Baking the cake save them, like it or not. Denying it or thinking it never amounts to anything, shows your actually being petty on your end about it especially you stop calling his name. Your post says it all. That's your feeling, not the fandom's.
It made sense, it saved the crew and many others. Oda even mention it on SBS how important the cake is from his own words. Again, you seem to be mad and upset he didn't fight more when he have many clashes with Daifuku, Oven, Bobbin, Raisin, etc.. The arc wasn't meant to be an all-out fight arc especially with their forces. It would be unbelievable for them to beat them. The arc was a Impel Down-like Arc like it or not. It wasn't about dominating everyone, but to survive.
He been the same as always been and he did what was right. Your proving my point you and few others were caring nothing, but fights, not character or situation at hand. Your opinion isn't fact, it's mostly personal feelings. Again not coming at you with hate or disrespect, but your not proving nothing on your side to say it was bad for Sanji or he won't be fighter again. You need to look back on his debut and how he been through OP to now to see his character as nothing change dramatically about it. Last chapter shows that and his power, character, and so on are still apparent to the end.
Your post implies that only those who liked that arc are factual and correct and fair while those who didnt like it are wrong...

Well those who said they liked it, explain why they did and the arc purpose. The ones who said they 'hate' the arc or 'dislike' it mostly say "Not enough fights! Why we didn't get our fights and why the cake even do to BM? Luffy vs Katakuri was BS as why did he win?" Stuff like that. Minority have said this and been proven against them on why. If they look at the context and situation as well the speech bubbles that it would explain all of them.
You kinda lied in your post there as Sanji had his fights, but the main point wasn't to fight in this arc and the reason Luffy had his fights were environmental was first off, he was underestimated and for Katakuri, he dragged him to the Mirror World to prevent anyone interfering. It was already explain why he did that and show more when Flambe came and try to intervene. If it wasn't for Katakuri's personality, Luffy would have been in trouble as they aren't fighting by fair means, but all out war. Which is why not many could go on one on one fights cause it is risky and the opponents won't play fair in the altercation.
As for Pudding, I can understand how her personality can be annoying back and forth, bur have reasons and shows off as she became helpful to them. Pretty sure the threats are resolved by Germa and Jimbei or probably her coming to Wano it be resolved there since it seems Luffy will fight her again and end it.
Again, respect if your didn't like it, but aiming at the wrong points and not taking much account on context how the situation is. I know people dislike it, but saying majority dislike it, it's not really factual especially I just mention those who explain it my last post and understand it and enjoy it. Those who dislike it, have issues which been countered from what I seen on what they dislike. Just saying is truly seen around as I go on many websites.

Those who liked it said their reasons same as those who didnt like it, there is no right and wrong side here. Also, using "minority" and "majority" to back up your arguments for the lack of actual proof is not very convincing. Either refrain from using those or make poles on multi websites to get some facts.

If you read WCI you would know that Sanji didnt have a single fight in that arc, only clashes and one-shots, so no I didnt lie. The arc was long enough to give Sanji a decent 1vs1 or to Brook, or to Jinbe, or to Chopper but no, it had to overuse Luffy and put him into 3 fights... You dont even understand why people who disliked the arc do so, there were fights but Luffy was the one who fought every single one, no focus on other characters. That's a fact and your or Mr.Morj's explanation of the arc doesnt change it. The points that people who disliked it make are all facts, not made up arguments which need an explanation. You can try to argue those points but you wont make people who disliked it suddenly like it.
As I just said, you can try to argue it but dislike towards it stands. Pudding was annoying and had too much screen time, you cant change that fact by arguing it. The entire arc happened because of those threats and the arc ended without those threads being neutralized, great. Same plot armor that's protecting East Blue and Fishman Island now could have happened by refusing to go to the wedding, sending Big Mom middle finger and dragging her to Wano.

I am aiming at the right points why arc is bad in my opinion, you are just missing those points. The issues have not been countered and cannot be done so not sure what are you trying to do except trying to enforce your opinion that arc was good, which some people disagree with. Whether it's majority or minority I dont know and I am not using it to back up my claims.
I dont know where this comes from... Sanji without raid suit taking down someone who is at least as strong as Supernova... When did Sanji become stronger than Supernova captain rank? It's a group of people that are pushed in the same tier as Luffy, they are captains of rivaling crews (Kidd, Law, Hawkins, Drake, Urogue...). I would understand the opinion if Sanji would be paired with his equivalent from their crews but suitless taking down the captains, without getting seriously injured... Luffy and Zoro would have a hard time against such opponents if they really are at least as strong as Supernovas. Where did this come from?

Hahaha..nice name cake Baker. Will definitely use it somewhere.
Personally, I think the WCI arc was pretty decent except for the fights which were not closed properly. There were myriad subplots and characters which were quite interesting to say the least. And we can all agree that oda has been found lacking in his writing for a while now viz a viz closing multiple plots and pacing of the story. Kinda makes me uneasy about the ending of the whole thing.
About sanji though, there is no doubt that strength wise he has been demoted. It is apparent that the direction towards which the author wishes to take sanji's character. His character has seen a lot of development on the basis of his backstory during the last arc. I personally find him kinda wanting strength wise though.
PS: I do not see this sanji debate ending anytime soon. @nik87 and @King Moe, guys take a chill for some time. I can't believe how frustrating it would be for you guys to keep repeating yourselves when we all are so frustrated reading these arguments. It is not resolving anytime soon and we just gotta wait till some yonkou fight to let this issue blow over. Cheers

If you believe that baking a cake was a smart move, that's your opinion. It is my opinion that the cake is why they had such a hard time after getting to the sunny. Luffy n Jinbe n the cake baker n the crew could have taken Dogtooth on the sunny. Then escaped at sea with a hunger tantrum BM left to destroy her own territory and fight her own children. This was the smart move. The cake cld have been left out and the entire arc would have not been effected. The cake baker saved the BM pirates.
Hey buddy I actually like the guy. But let's be serious here. He made a cake. He needs the raid suit.
oda has been found lacking in his writing for a while now viz a viz closing multiple plots and pacing of the story. Kinda makes me uneasy about the ending of the whole thing
While I agree on the pacing during WCI I think it has been amazing in Wano. I am not sure if I can complain about a single chapter pacing wise, maybe too much focus on the sumo and Holdem but I dont mind it that much.
No, they brought up facts more compare to those who dislike it from what I seen. Saying "Sanji is done as a fighter, Luffy vs Katakuri is BS as why he still up, and so on' are not facts, there are petty excuse out of emotions which I seen many countered for those reasons by those who like it and enjoy it in the end. I don't need to make polls when I seen like to dislike ratio and those who like it, have more likes than those who dislike it. I look at the comments and the comments show that more than polls. Youtube, Reddit, Twitter, etc.. It's all the shame, dude. Whether denied it or not, those who dislike it were in minority and always will be out of it.
Fight is a fight, he fought in those even if they are brief and still show his fighting capabilities in them. Also again, you didn't read my post as I told you one on one fights are impossible to give out in the arc. Luffy got his fights due to first being underestimated and then brought Katakuri in Mirror World where no one can intervene. There was no where safe you can have one on one fights due to BM Pirates and Family don't honored that rule. Flambe interfered and Luffy could have lost out of it if it wasn't for Katakuri sticking up for him to have a 'manly' duel. One on One fights wouldn't work as family will intervene especially when BM Pirates when after Sanji with Luffy in his arms to show it was impossible to have fair fights in them. You can keep saying that all you like, but how it was shown and written in context and how the group is like, it explains why Luffy fought and why the others couldn't get their one on ones. Also disagree with you on that as it was through people like Joy Boy, Mr. Morj, Craftsdwarf, and so on who convinced even thoughs who dislike it to like it as shown within their Youtube Comments. It is possible for that and their facts weren't that detail or much if they were convince by videos and their POV. Just saying to you.
Not as big as much. Others still enjoy Pudding more than hate her and she became useful to them in the arc to the end of it. As for the threats, they aare either neutralized due to Germa and Jimbei as she never act on those or her pride and rage for Strawhat is keeping her from thinking about them and will be settled in Wano. That's not plot armor, that using her character's personality how she is to get the better of her.
Not really as you complaining on why no one get one on one except Luffy which I explained and how Sanji's character was like that when I explain to you already. Your not trying to read my posts much to prove yourself right. Not trying to force my opinion as I am saying I respect if you dislike it, but you were claiming in your posts that many dislike the arc when that's not factual at all. You were trying to enforce majority hate it when that's not true. Just was correcting you on it. If you and others don't like it, alright then. Though don't put it as everyone hates the arc when that's not really true.
Dude, it is canon smart move no matter how much you look at it and try to denied it. Strawhats would be dead without it the cake saving them, it was their live saver, not the cause of it. If not for the cake, answer me what would have save them? Cause they already establish Big Mom was unstoppable with her power, so if your answer is to defeat her by physical means, then that shows you weren't really paying attention what the arc was establishing her to be.
As for what you said, no way that would happen as Luffy was the one to tell them to stay behind and plus he rather dueling by himself than get help much. Even if he did want help, no time as Katakuri was about to break out of his grasp, so he couldn't ask them to follow them and even so put them in danger in the fight as he rather deal his fights alone. Also that won't work what you said about leaving her alone when Perospero did a lie and said they had it. You saw her coming after them, didn't you? She was going to go after them at the end of their days and by doing your way, Nami and others died as no one would make the cake to save them.
The cake saved everyone even his crew, you still seemed to be denying that and Idk if your really fan of him as even fans or those who aren't understand the context of the arc, but you seem to go on personal feelings than facts. Yep, the cake that saves lives that your ignoring issue about and RS that he is using for disguise, not for lack of power when he kick down Page One to the ground.
Again not coming at you with negative stuff, but just saying your points are more personal than factual honestly.
Woah! For real? Why do you say that man? I think that character was pretty cool until the loss to luffy.
Hahaha..even I was surprised!
Cheers
You do realize your not helping the post when your responding of 'liking' 'cake baker' too, right xD? Though thanks for trying though and we just debating, we aren't angry at each other.
Now for your post, not really. Nothing says that Sanji's strength is weaker or Oda been lacking in writing and pacing as we saw the next being Reverie which many said it's one of the best arcs and still going with his writing and such. So proves Oda isn't lacking in story or pacing much and WCI was how it should been. Sanji still haven't shown 100% of his power in the arc, so to say his power is lacking is kinda 'poor' judgement as that like saying Zoro is lacking due to not seeing Asura yet that everyone still claims he can do, but still you would think he would use it by now when things got tough with his serious encounters with them.
So don't worry much. Right Sanji facing Page One and rules been set he can't take damage or even be beaten (The guy is assassin, so I doubt Sanji will be kill.) If Oda going that far to showcase the stipulations for Sanji, then that showing more of his strength on what will happen since he is going to fight King or Queen in the future.
As far as sanji goes... I thoroughly dislike how he was handled the previous arc. There was so much buildup to the damn cake and literally all it did was help big mom. Looking back its basically the only scenario that makes sense considering that the cake being so delicious it kills big mom would have been virtually no different from murdering big mom with poison and it would have basically capped sanji's cooking skill but even then this scenario that makes "sense" is plainly lackluster. Add to that the simple fact that oda made no room whatsoever to give sanji a single decent fight. Fighting wise the best moment sanji had was against oven but in all honesty that wasn't really a fight. And oven was not even seriously injured from that. You'd think that sanji flawlessly sneaking up on someone and landing a hit to said someone's neck would result in that person getting taken out, at a minimum. With that in mind, sanji's greatest feat in the arc is actually the proof that he simply doesn't cut it for oven's tier.
And now the raid suit stuff. As far as I can tell sanji is up against drake's subordinate. Clearly things are set up for sanji to have a relatively comfortable victory but.... I still find this concerning regarding his development. This drake subordinate has not been given any amount of development. And sanji is presumably going to use his raid suit to defeat him quickly and without getting found out. But why does he need a raid suit against this still undeveloped enemy? You'd think sanji could just walk up to a random kaido subordinate and own him even without a raid suit. We have barely seen sanji fight at all since doflamingo for FFS. What's the point of seeing sanji now of all times put on a raid suit and defeat some borderline nameless asshole? If sanji does not defeat this guy within a second with a single decisive hit in a single instant then this whole thing with the raid suit is a massive waste of time and it will prove sanji's strength is simply.... third rate at the most. As in, insufficient to fight yonko executives/commanders.
PageOne is not Drake's subordinate and is part of the same group of fighters but even among same group of fighters there could be huge gap in combat capabilities, for example, Snack and Katakuri. People assumed that PageOne is Drake's equal due to being in the same group but if they really are equal remains to be seen.
Imo, if PageOne gets trashed by Sanji without injuring him or making it extremely difficult fight then I have to assume that PageOne is not Drake's equal because I dont believe that Sanji would be able to defeat Drake in the same way, if defeat him at all.

I really cant tell why are you trying so hard to convince me that WCI was good arc when it wasnt, in my opinion. I watched Morj's video and he didnt change my mind. I never used minority or majority, you used it. I only said, there is plenty of people who dislike that arc for valid reasons.
I am just correcting you here since I never said that everyone hates the arc.
