Which parts did you read? I mean, any arc after Enies Lobby was always going to be "less than" but I really enjoyed. Not only did it give me one of my favourite Zoro fights but also his top 2 moment in the series.

The art style Oda developed in this arc was also better (imo) to the following arc, but also it was the first arc to happen almost entirely at night. The villain was ridiculous but not exactly weak in the traditional sense.

Plus the themes, details that Oda always crams in the chapters; there's just so much.

I hate zombies and most things gothic in general. My past attempts to read through it left me mostly extremely bored, so I have no intention of doing it again. The fight with Moria was fine, though Kuma's attack was my favorite part. (And I admit I did enjoy Hogback's mansion, but that was about it). I've tried twice to get through Thriller Bark, and each time I couldn't take it. It was like nails on chalk board to the eyes for me.

And I always miss the part where Luffy obtains that bracelet he gives to Buggy. Where does that come from exactly?

Not significant information anymore, but Big Mom losing weight has a pretty interesting explanation.

When people fast (stop eating for quite long periods of time) or go on low/0 carbohydrate diets, they tend to lose weight very quickly. Reason that is the case is because the carbohydrates in the body gets depleted and the depletion of carbohydrates means a lot of body water is lost as carbohydrates tend to hold 3 grams of water or something like that.

Anyone who has tried the ketogenic diet would attest to this significant loss of weight really fast. The other thing low carbohydrates or carbohydrate depletion does to the body besides weight loss is fatigue increases drastically. This essentially explains Big Mom's weight loss/shrinking as well as her loss of power. Given that she's a giant to an extent in size, she probably has to eat often and has a fast metabolism that makes this happen to her very easily.

I should, HP, that there's actually some genetic disposition to fatigue very drastically. Some people definitely cannot go long without carbohydrates. I recall a fitness guru that I trust mentioning how it's this gene that gets activated in some people. They literally feel like they are dying if they go long enough without eating. I tend to get like that after intermittent fasting for 2 days, where on the 3rd day it feels like starvation has set in, even though I shouldn't be. (Though I learned wi-fi blocks fat cell mobilization, that might be one reason.)

Speaking of, I wonder if Transponder Snails produce radiowave signals naturally or if it is somehow something else? We know they basically function like phones, and the new smart pond snails especially so. Maybe all those sea slugs Big Mom has got around her territory are no good for her health. :P

Though she clearly is one of those people who does not appear to do well while fasting. She did not lose weight waiting for Semla and eventually snapped in her desperation for it. Mental attitude plays a major role in fat loss as well, as it directly affects and is affected in turn by cortisol levels... a vicious cycle. I would assume she'd actually gain weight, but there are those people where intense enough stress actually reduces metabolism. I guess all those shocks at once (Seeing Caramel's photo shatter and then getting it shown to her a second time, Mr. Skeleton being alive and escaped, the cake ruined, Luffy alive and eating the cake all over the place... goodness it must have set her into a downward spiral).

I do wonder if she would have actually died though? but perhaps we should stop. BM is clearly an natural aberration. Assuming the WG wasn't involved somehow. I still say she was physically enhanced. It just doesn't make sense her perfectly normal parents would give birth to such a monster among monsters at random. She was too gigantic and her skin is not normal, reminding me a lot of the Germa's outer skeleton thing. Could be Judge was not building his children's genetic enhancements from scratch, but from previous madmen.

Yes, i posted about it during the chapters' release.

Mama losing weight is because of Ketosis.... her insulin levels have dropped and she's started burning fat for energy.... Glucose is required for the brain and when its deprived, it uses Ketones produced by Liver which is extracted from fat... Her becoming thinner and now gaining a little more consciousness could all be based on this state as well.... Previous hunger pangs never lasted that long.... Once she has the cake, her body will use the glucose instantly and her insulin levels peak, she will probably have a crash as well, which will be different from her normal hunger pangs as it lasted a few minutes and she didnt have the crash.

I was doing the keto diet back then, and yea lost weight quite fast.... I lost weight and Big Mama's and gained it back at Luffy's pace...

Interesting fact about snails and commincation, it was infact, considered as an actual science at one point. Or probably, pseudo science you can call it, but the scientist or conman from that 1850's suggested that there's a telepathic link formed between two snails allowing for telegraphic communication...


Also, I dont think wifi can block cell mobilization. Wifi signals are electromagnetic, but so are most electronic devices. The only thing wifi blocks is people from mobilizing, like s meitting and posting on forums..

Radiowave frequencies are deadly, actually. I became EMF hyper-sensitive to them last year. They affect everyone though, and in various ways. For instance, I get headaches by using the computer too long. Speaking of...

Why? I mean, if you need to lose weight, its good. I lost 50 lbs on it. If you are a lazyass like me and dont wanna work out, its a great diet...

Not really to lose weight, just to be healthier and build muscle. I felt too weak at the gym on a low carb/ketogenic diet. Kind of understand how Big Mom felt to an extent, lol.

regarding the evil characters in OP, i think Tenyruubito are the only ones who come close.

Huge fan of HxH, but I watch/read it casually, I haven't really dabbled on the HxH lore so I'm clueless; I'll probably have to watch it from the start again whenever Togashi returns because by then, I'd have forgotten the plot again, lol. OP is the only series I read this seriously.

Been thinking lately that our boy Shanks might just be the biggest plot device thus far. Bigger than Ace and even Gold Roger. We might get a glimpse of his power but he’ll never interact with Luffy or the plot directly, always moving forward via an interaction of sorts but I get a strong clairvoyance that he’s just gonna die and yet, again, serve as a motivation for Luffy to over whatever obstacle (most likely Blackbeard).

That information might be very important. If Shanks did, then so did Buggy. But if Buggy did, he'd know how to get there and would've been either a target to get that info or he himself would've used it for something.
Or unless Raftel's location keeps changing, meaning it is actually a sky island.
