I still do not understand what benefits that form gives Robin. It's the same as the gigantic Robin but darker.

Personal opinion: Robin with haki would have been more OP imo. She got one of the hax fruits in the series
I'm guessing it's just stronger, more strength.

Seems there's a pattern possibly:
  • 100 Flowers = Orchid
  • 1000 Flowers = Delphinium
So, Demon Flower being a type of flower is potentially 2000 flowers, maybe 10000. At the very least, it's stronger than any technique she has. I'd imagine the dark colouring is because of the name of the technique and flower being "demon".
It surely isn't Haki given she's not even used it in base form nor is she capable of exercising Haki at all.

No way she's going from not even being able to use Haki to using full body like its nothing.

Yes I don't think it's haki either. I would have preferred her to learn haki because Logia's exist.

Yeah I think more flowers = more strength makes sense.
Same as making a rope: one thread is weak but a group of threads makes a rope which is strong.

Someone made a great point
Law and luffy don’t necessarily have to be whitebeard and roger , that the closer parallel missed is more like garp and Sengoku . Seeing as law and luffy are damn near besto friends now

Luffy is not going to do what Roger did.
Luffy is going to change the world.
So I don't know why people expect Luffy to executed as Pirate King they Law or Kid being the new ruler of Grand Line.

Luffy and other supernovas are changing the era.
I expect the Yonko system to disappear.
Smoker-Coby may play the "Garp" role to Luffy as Garp did to Roger.
I can easily see Smoker, Coby becoming the new faces of the new "Justice force" of the world.

Good point. When did Oda say WCI was going to be the first Island we revisit. Not what did Luffy promise, not why do you think it makes sense. Where did Oda, himself, say we are going back to WCI. I’ll wait.
When Oda in his magazine interviews told us he was going to take us to Wano... how did he show that in the manga? He had Luffy say it in Manga. Or am I wrong?
I never said why it makes sense to me, I simply regurgitated what the story said is all and what actions are consistent with what was said.

No need to wait, it's quite simple. Zoro saying he'll be WSS is pretty much Oda telling us he will make Zoro the WSS. You believe it, I believe it, everyone believes it.
Luffy has said so multiple times, so, it's pretty much clear Oda has intentions. You can't really know anything without the Manga. It's thanks to the Manga we know Zoro will be WSS as he said, no? We all know the answer.

There's nothing in the story you can understand or know without the character pretty much telling us. The characters are the medium by which Oda tells the audience what's going on and what to expect.

Sanji said I think twice that he'll make a cake that'll make Big Mom faint.

In One Piece people say things for the sake of hyping.

Why the hell would we waste time with BM again ? We've seen everything about her.

Or Big Mom = Team Rocket and I didn't get the memo ?

Not all statements are equal, it depends on character, and situation.

When Luffy says he'll be Pirate King, it's not for the sake of hype, it's a narrative fact. Zoro saying he'll be WSS is not for the sake of hype, it's fact.

Or, do you think Luffy will not become Pirate King and Zoro will not be the WSS? I am sure you couldn't say they won't.

Sanji said I think twice that he'll make a cake that'll make Big Mom faint.
He actually did knock Big Mom out, not in the way we expected. He knocked her into bliss. So, he did fulfil his promise. It just wasn't what we expected.
There are simply situations where when the main characters make a statement, it's pretty much fact.
If it's a statement made where the tension is thick, or it's a huge bet of a statement where everything is on the line, one can tell from the context it's definitely going to happen.

When Zoro said he'll never lose to another Swordsman, he was crying, he promised Luffy and we can tell from the setting he really meant it.
There are statements that are simply for comedic purpose and some statements are throw-away comments or filler, but not all are.

When a character says the same thing 3 times in situations, that in itself is enough context, more so, it's the main character, it's pretty much Oda telling us this is what he intends to do. The same reason I believe Luffy will be PK and Zoro will be WSS and Sanji will find the all blue is pretty much the same reason with defeating Big Mom and WCI.

Why the hell would we waste time with BM again ?
Does he write the story specifically for your taste, approval and preference? Last time I checked, Oda writes the story how he wants. At the very most, Shonen Jump might have a say, but I don't think you or I do.

We've seen everything about her.
We have seen Big Mom do some things, but how do you know we've seen everything she's capable of?

You haven’t seen BM going at full scale yet.
Blood spitting, broken bones, dozen of skills displayed (vs ze-ro for Jack...).

Or, do you think Luffy will not become Pirate King and Zoro will not be the WSS? I am sure you couldn't say they won't
Thoses claims make sense story-wise. But I wouldn't take 'Luffy being Luffy saying things out of his head' seriously.

Big Mom can return to WCI, that's not the issue. What I'm saying is that, plot-wise, it's just a waste of time to go back to WCI 'just because Luffy said so'

Whole Charlotte family : checked
Save Sanji : checked
Poneglyph : checked
etc

She's not relevant to the main story (as an arc boss) anymore.

As a matter of fact, speculation time :
I think she'll be connected to the current side-story.
I expect BB to go to WCI island to get the poneglyph.
That's when he'll finish off a worn out BM for good.
This will allow Germa to save Niji and Yonji.

But I wouldn't take 'Luffy being Luffy saying things out of his head' seriously.
Serious statements are determined by what exactly? According to this logic, even saying something 3 times doesn't make it serious. By that notion, I can consider any statement unserious.

So, Luffy saying the 3 times to return to WCI is irrelevant.
I guess Zoro saying WSS multiple times is also irrelevant, and basically, anything any character says can be dismissed.
By that logic, Fujitora talking about SSG... I can dismiss that as not something to be taken seriously.

Sanji won't find the all blue, Zoro won't be WSS, Luffy won't be Pirate King, he also won't return Shanks' strawhat because Luffy's not serious. I can validly state that with your reasoning or am I missing something?

Yes, Luffy had promised that he would have knocked Linlin down, but situations change, priorities are different and it is possible to fail in promises that have only a demonstration of strength.

Luffy, in fact, does not aim to be the strongest man in the world, but to be the King of the Pirates. Being a charismatic captain who has gained a modicum of wisdom, he should realize that fighting Linlin makes no sense now and that, if he too wanted to make her pay for previous events, she was punished profusely by others.
As Oda said in the SBS of volume 4, Big Mom lost and so she suffered the worst humiliation.
If Luffy now wanted to go beating her at all costs, it would be only a fury (although a second round of beating would deserve it as well) for the spirit of the story.

And then it's not that it hurts if every now and then you don't necessarily have to fill in every box created by some promise declared by the protagonists, it is natural that some goal in life can and should change.

but situations change
Situations always change, that's not really a valid argument. Luffy was going to defeat Kaido at the start of Wano arc. The situation changed many times.
Did that still stop him? No, so that's not a valid argument.

Do you know when situations changed?
  1. When Luffy got defeated back in Kuri, chapter 922 where Luffy got defeated.
  2. When Luffy got imprisoned, situations changed.
  3. When he almost got killed by Big Mom in Udon, situations changed.
  4. When he fell into the sea after fighting kaido.
A change in situation means nothing... he's still defeating Kaido regardless. Situations mean nothing if Luffy isn't dead, or the person he intends to defeat.
Luffy, in fact, does not aim to be the strongest man in the world, but to be the King of the Pirates.
priorities are different
Not applicable. Reason being the need to defeat the Emperors is ALWAYS an unchanging priority, it's a requirement.

Also, being Pirate King does mean being the strongest Pirate.

Do you know who was the next in line to be Pirate King after Roger?
  1. Whitebeard, the strongest Pirate in the world.
  2. Do you know who Roger was? The strongest Pirate in the world only rivalled by Whitebeard.
  3. Do you know how strong Roger was? Shiki didn't even believe the Emperors could defeat him, he was that powerful. Do you understand what it takes... to be so powerful that when you are said to be captured by ADMIRALS, an Emperor doesn't believe it? Roger's basically Thanos when you're so powerful people don't believe other powerful people could capture you
  4. So, the only people who could be Pirate King were the 2 strongest pirates in the world, and the other (Whitebeard) could have been Pirate King, he just chose not to do so.
  5. Do you know why Kaido and Big Mom couldn't be Pirate King? Whitebeard stopped them from being Pirate King.
  6. Do you know who Whitebeard was? He was the King of the sea after Roger died, he was the strongest.
it is possible to fail in promises that have only a demonstration of strength.
Pirate King... is a demonstration of strength. Thus, why Luffy had to train for 2 years, and why he's still getting stronger. If that weren't the case, then anyone could be Pirate King. Even Chinjao himself said it...

The Pirate King is the man with the most powerful King's Haki. It is a demonstration of strength.

And then it's not that it hurts if every now and then you don't necessarily have to fill in every box created by some promise declared by the protagonists, it is natural that some goal in life can and should change.
This isn't life, this is a Manga. It's a story for kids. Kid's stories tend to make everything the protagonist wants come true.

I can’t believe this topic is still being debated when the chapter doesn’t even feature Luffy.
The focus is not really on Luffy per se.

Only reason this is a topic is Big Mom's in the chapter. People believe she's done this arc and some don't.

The debate is essentially is Big Mom getting defeated or not? Unless we're not allowed to discuss how a fight concludes or the implications. The last panel from this chapter and the last pretty much beg the question.

And yet the content of the debate is still exactly the same as it was a year ago. You’re literally quoting the same panels and using the same arguments, so what’s changed?

Even the story making it look like BMs gonna be defeated seems like just another excuse for you to re-hash your opinion on the same topics.

In fact, you have only 3-4 things you always talk about in this thread, and every chapter is an opportunity for you to get into the exact same argument using the exact same panels and spamming the thread. This has gone on for YEARS. Nothing has changed.

And I know you say it’s because people try to argue it with you. But if they do, why don’t you just let it go, give everyone a break? That’d be pretty grown-up.

Luffy can revisit big mom at WCI as a side story. We have seen most of what we need to see.... yeah Luffy can keep the promise but it can be a lil side story like the narrator telling the events or maybe even a cover story while we switch to other events like whats going on with sabo.

This is surrealistic and beyond annoying.
Anyways, hopefully next chap will bring some closure on wether BM is defeated for good or not. After all, when a character suffers a “final attack”, Oda usually shows the aftermath right away.
He did so with every defeated villain thus far in Wano, iirc
The problem relies on an inability of his to properly read dialogue. Which just hasn't the same mechanisms as other forms of text.

Since probably no one here has studied something like literature (in English) we just don't have the proper vocabulary to really explain that to him since it's pretty basic and not something that usually needs to be explained. You normally know from real life.

And that's what it has been about for years. It's basically all meta and not even about the original point anymore.

---

I still go with the theory that Big Mom got mezmerized by the Magnetic Cannon. Something will change inside of her. This chapter pulled out the Carmel plot again with the Mysery attack.

The presence of the homies means Oda cannot cut off this fight like he did with King and Queen. We will definitely need more than one further panel of Big Mom to conclude this.

Well, evidence doesn't change.
If I wanted proof of your identity, you'd show me ID, Passport, etc. Evidence doesn't change.

Even the story making it look like BMs gonna be defeated seems like just another excuse for you to re-hash your opinion on the same topics.
Isn't that the purpose of stories? To make you think things and discuss?
It's not like you know if she's going to be defeated or not, unless you're saying you know the outcome and we shouldn't discuss it. What is the outcome then? Why's there no point discussing if Big Mom falls or not since you know this answer apparently.

And I know you say it’s because people try to argue it with you. But if they do, why don’t you just let it go, give everyone a break? That’d be pretty grown-up.
Why aren't you criticising them for arguing it?
And it was a moderator who even brought up the topic, are you going to criticise him too?

ONLY.
When have I ever spoken about Big Mom's powers which I did here? Apparently, I don't talk about other things.

Also, this arc is about fighting Big Mom and Kaido. Every chapter to some degree gives insight into the conclusion as to what will happen, people see different things and see it as a pro or con.
MEJ did exactly this, he saw something he felt was evidence for his stance, so you're not only accusing me, you should accuse others.
Overall, my point is the arc is pretty much focused on whether or not this is the end of both Big Mom and Kaido, or just Kaido, it's an arc focused on them, so the debate is pretty much relevant in almost every chapter.

If you don't want to read these debates, bring up other topics that are more interesting and others will engage in it if it's a good debate point. OR simply ignore people who discuss or say things you dislike. There are people's comments I'd rather not read, and I block them, I don't complain or care about their arguments, they're free to think or talk about whatever they want, that's their right as far as I'm concerned.

Luffy beating all 4 yonkou was always a long shot
The previous PK in roger actually didn’t even defeat all of them , heck he nearly lost to shiki if not for luck and snuck into totoland
And he and WB were essentially frenemies
He’s really gonna beat 2

Wrong.

Then Luffy wouldn't need King's Haki or a 2 year time skip.

Getting to Laughtale requires strength to defeat Emperors.

Tell me how Luffy was going to get the Poneglyph in Wano without King's Haki, strength, training? Apparently, being Pirate King has nothing to do with strength... then why is he fighting?

There's a reason Whitebeard was considered closest to the One Piece, he was the strongest Pirate.

Big Mom, Kaido, Blackbeard... all are finding ways to increase power either with an alliance or getting a crew with more DF users... they want to be Pirate King... so how is it that all the potential Pirate Kings are all so powerful... if strength isn't necessary?

Why did Big Mom say if she had more power, she could be Pirate King.... if it has nothing to do with strength? Please elaborate.

You're essentially saying the Manga is wrong, and you're right. You're saying the opposite of what the Manga is saying.
