99% is very bold.
If we go back to WCI, we were told Kid went to WCI and got chased out which was true. By that, we would also say 99%, Kid didn't fight anyone.
Although when we came to Wano, we were told while he did get chased out of WCI, he did injure a commander, so yes, Roger did leave WCI, but we can't say he definitely didn't fight with Big Mom.

Even Luffy who came to just save Sanji and the Vinsmokes still ended up clashing with Big Mom, so, it's quite possible they did fight and Roger was able to successfully take her down,
On top of that, Big Mom knew Roger used VOAT to read the Poneglyph which may suggest she witnessed Roger do it, so at the very least, there must have been an encounter.

On a different note, Roger's reputation must have been so bad if King thought the closest thing to JoyBoy was Kaido of all people, the warmonger. Then again, only few people knew Roger was a good person.
It's... subjective though, I'm saying that's how confident I am, not that there was 99% chance that they didn't fight. We literally have no idea what happened, but if anything happened, BIg Mom would say so or give indication. I don't remember what Oda mentioned about Kidd on WCI, other than him beating a commander?

Luffy wanted to fight Big Mom, and every decision he made was going to bring him to clash with her, after she knew he was on the island. We don't know what happened with Roger, other than her knowing he invaded her territory and used Voice of All Things.

Not really, it depends what Oda wants to reveal. All Big Mom said was Roger came to WCI and stole her Poneglyph.

I don't remember what Oda mentioned about Kidd on WCI, other than him beating a commander?
At WCI Brulee said Kid came to WCI and got tossed out like a lightweight. Only Urouge defeated a commander.
Kid didn't defeat anyone, he injured a commander, but he didn't defeat them. We didn't know this until Wano where Kid told us he did get chased off, but he injured a commander and stole something.
A conclusion doesn't tell us exactly what happened.

Luffy wanted to fight Big Mom, and every decision he made was going to bring him to clash with her,
Luffy was not looking to fight Big Mom at WCI, he just wanted to save Sanji. He only clashed with if it was necessary to escape or stop her from chasing, but his goal was not to defeat her. He did say so as well.

We don't know what happened with Roger, other than her knowing he invaded her territory and used Voice of All Things.
Well, that's true, but WCI is a 1 day journey. It's far too big for nothing to have happened other than Roger went in, left, and that was that. Even Citizens of WCI cannot just leave WCI, they have to stay there, so someone as powerful as Roger? There's got to be more to the story.

It says he read the Poneglyph, it doesn't mean he just walked into the castle, opened a few doors, read it and left. There would have been some contention. It wouldn't have been that easy. That's why I say a conclusion doesn't tell you the details of what happened, it just summarises point A to Z without telling you B, C, D...and everything else in-between.

Do you guys think there's a possibility of us finally seeing Vegapunk in Kaido's flashback? The Yonkou saga has introduced his former colleagues, his greatest invention and an invention so revolutionary it has changed the power structure of the world. Do you think it's time and would it be odd to introduce such a big character in a flashback?

It's definitely time and I could see this happening. But it's not a neccesity and Oda might keep him for the present time, which could only be soon afterwards.

Yea, i think we will see Vegapunk post Wano, but maybe a shadowed version of him in Kaido's flashback. The new pacifistas or whatever they are called will be able to successfully round off the shichibukais, adn that storyline will reveal Vegapunk in my opinion.

Speaking of shichibukai, if Madam Hancock gets arrested, do you think Luffy will go to save her?

Absolutely, no way Luffy would let her rot in prison or get executed. She is one of his friends and we know what Luffy would do for a friend.
Exactly. No way Luffy does nothing especially for how much Hancock has helped him in the past.

If we get a short arc, I would be enjoy seeing Impel Down version 2.0, where Luffy handily defeats Magellan to rescue Hancock and ends up taking on and defeating an Admiral at the end who is called in for reinforcement.

We are not getting Impel Down 2.0, Luffy had a "victory" in Impel Down, he was just too late

But we may have Marineford 2.0. It makes sense, since this time it will be very different. Intead of being a small fry running around, Luffy's role will be akin to Whitebeard was back then.

Wano is very clunky by Oda’s standards in writing in some parts

Zoro COC journey : for this one is easily my disappointed with Oda’s writing , Zoro on panel never used basic COC heck he doesn’t even know he can use it after his fight with kaido and like legit suddenly he can cloak his blade in it , we aren’t even sure Zoro can use flow , maybe oda had to skip some things but it’s so damn unsatisfying especially when you compare it to zoro’s journey to first cutting steel or luffy learning it ,built up with great payoff , sure Zoro was always hinted at being a king but this is like if ussop from the jump started using future sight !?! Zoro learning it is great but man Oda could have at least given us some active use before not straight to mastering a technique that only few can use . Heck with oden the previous user of the blades they gave us more than enough to give us reason , him having flow and him seeing roger and whitebeard use advanced COC and him wondering about the technique . For me the Zoro COC aesthetically amazing, thematically and narratively satisfying , not in the least.
Second the ice Oni stuff , felt like a waste of time , just padding and unneeded section it did allow chopper to shine but the arc would have lost nothing if you cut it out

Yamato, while I do enjoy Yamato , everything from their introduction and wanting to be oden , I don’t know I feel strongly that Oda could have introduced Yamato way better , someone of this significance (Lmao also hilarious that any of the flying 6 could capture them )

Personal pet peeves that aren’t necessarily bad but not to my personal taste : - the flying six kinda being underwhelming compared to their hype. - some of the sanji stuff , I get the trusting teammates stuff with Robin but didn’t work for me - udon was necessary but it dragged on quite a bit for me .

I bought Pirate Warriors 4 on sale for Switch and yeah if you like these games better wait for the next installment because this is a very fillery transitional title that includes very questionable roster cuts in favor for very questionable addition but the weirdest part is Diamond Jozu.

Because in this game he wields a huge club and for a while I even thouht he would not even have his DF but at the last stages (he is AI only) he will also occasionally use brilliant punk, I've only seen it once and the texture looked kinda broken too as far as I remember, completly estranging and just weird.

Like they had so many assets from previous titles they could use and they kept a filler version of Jozu? Hilarious :D

The game end with Carrot climbing onto Kaido's Dragon Form in Sulong and hitting him on the head, then Kuzan freezes Kaido and Kid throws some small metal balls at him for whatever reason and then Luffy, in Snakeman punches Kaido hard into the head with a gigantic filler corkscrew attack. Then Kaido transforms back into human, laughs as if nothing happened and flies off saying he'll start a great war and that's pretty much the reason for why there's a myriad of cuts.

This comment is more about the latest anime ep than the latest manga chapter but I don’t like how Luffy said that his COO isn’t that good.
What happened to being able to see into the future?

Maybe he was referencing range? In the episode he was pointing out how Sanji might have used COO to sense a distant enemy which neither Luffy or Jinbei could sense. It's not crazy to think Sanji is better at sensing over a wider area than Luffy even if Luffy has better techniques like future sight.

I get what you mean. But this just confuses COO even more for me. Does this mean that future sight is a specific skill branching off from COO, and doesn’t just get unlocked when your COO reaches a certain level?
Because as far as I know, sanji doesn’t have future sight.
I dunno, that whole conversation with Luffy and Jinbei just didnt sit right with me haha

Yeah, right now the fanbase thinks it's a specific branch of skill.

For example, Fujitora and Usopp are the only confirmed people who can use the aura kind of CoO (Van Augur too but it's not confirmed yet). It doesn't mean Usopp is better at using CoO than Katakuri.

Oh yeah, I forgot about the aura sensing. Sucks that Usopp didn't use haki once in an entire war lol.

But maybe Sanji specialises in the emotion sensing of COO? Which still wouldn't make sense because he ended up being wrong about black maria's subordinate being in trouble. He was also easily deceived by Pudding. Which means that he's not even that good at it lol

I dunno man. Maybe he's just good at presence sensing. (I'm getting these terms from the wiki)

I think of all the haki types, COO is actually the most complicated since it offers the most variety in technique. From what we've seen COO has multiple branches of ability that a person can hone:
  • Sensing the presence of others in your surrounding
    • It's not clear but the ability to see auras that Fujitora/Usopp used could be an advanced version of this basic ability since it visualizes the others in the surroundings like radar vs a 6th sense
  • Sensing the strength of the people in your surrounding. This seems separate from just knowing a person/being is there
  • Predicting the actions of others in your surrounding
    • Future sight seems to be an advanced version of this ability to predict since it enables prediction without intent and makes a longer prediction than basic version of this ability
  • Sensing the emotions of those around you (emphatic skills). This can be seen by people like Otohime who felt the sadness of people
Separate from just those base abilities, there is also the concept of range. Each of those aspects are limited to ones surrounding but how far away it works from you is based on skill. Someone like Rayleigh was able to sense everything on an entire island. This was even talked about in Skypeia when Enel was able to increase the range using his DF compared to people like Satori who could only extend it to cover Upper Yard.

I think we've seen Luffy is best at the Predicting actions and Sensing Emotions aspect of COO. We haven't gotten a clear indication on how big his range is yet so its perfectly believable that Sanji or others would be better than Luffy in one of the other branches.

It's definitely the hardest to explain/display. Because unless specifically stated by the character or shown with the aura and future sight stuff, people could interpret a simple dodge as COO lol

As for sanji, now that his powerup has been shown to be more physical than COO-related, I wonder if he'll still be shown to 'specialise' in it

Usopp also needs to show us something

Yeah totally agreed. Honestly, I wonder if the whole Usopp/Fujitora thing is actually just the same as the 6th sense thing and we as the reader are just getting allowed to see it.

I think Sanji will still likely specialize in it since Oda is the one that directly said that in SBS. The physical enhancements he got were all to compensate for the fact he hasn't been shown to be good with COA. Maybe in the next arc Sanji's upgrade will be improving his COO haki but who knows.

I thought the same thing about the aura thing! It could very well just be general COO and they decided to visualise it

Yeah your point about sanji is true. We saw him lack in the durability department a bit (vergo cracking his bone) so this definitely compensates for it

Hopefully we see more haki use from different SHs. Cos seeing Jinbei use full body COA was great imo

Kaido the Minks, hey so I know I tried to kill you guys but I'm having fun fighting this Luffy guy. Give me two shots of that crack juice you gave Zoro after I helped break him in half. One for me and one for Luffy. Kaido talking to them in flirt mode the whole time. And playing with Chopper's like a stuffed animal toy or puppy.

On the bright side at least Kaido would basically love double the pain he has now. Meaning it would possibly force him immobile and able to have him put out of Wano lol.

Also there is Marco who can give Luffy a stabilizer/second wind to fight Kaido.

Which brings me to him being a doctor would not be redundant, as Marco would be able to stabilize people with his flames while Chopper does the healing. Thus allowing them to withstand more.

And now I believe One piece Episode 1013 aired. This just so happens to be an episode that gives you all the reasoning of the whole post Wano, new Strawhat members. Yamato's flashback with Ace. She dropped her club thinking about Kaido. Then you have Sanji having similar reactions to the Germa. Ultimately destroys the raid suit (though it may come back). Quite possible Yamato switches away from mace to swords.

Yamato, Sanji, Big Mom's kids, Luffy, Dragon, Sabo, Ace, XDrake, Franky, Big Mom and Doflamingo all bonding over their issues with their birth parents.

But the anime sure gives Yamato the become a Strawhat vibe. With the sad backstory. And technically Marco has one now too. His backstory is his back in the days happiness with Whitebeard, to all the chaos Blackbeard caused that led to the destruction of his crew. He has a mix of Brook and Jinbe to him. And Yamato's whole thing was to the sea. Just like Enies Lobby with the Strawhats and Merry. Basically two captive situations.

Also, I do wonder what happened to Ace's original crewmates. Oda never showed them in Marineford, although Marco said they were on board already. And Ace went after Blackbeard alone.

--- Double Post Merged, , Original Post Date: ---

Also did anyone notice the placement of the Yamato Ace story is during the Who's-Who Jinbe fight. Where Luffy just left from.
And of course Who's-Who has ties to Luffy's Devil fruit. Which has ties to Shanks. Where Shanks met Ace on his early journey and was thanked by Ace regarding Luffy and then later Shanks warned Whitebeard about Ace going after Blackbeard. Where if Whitebeard listened and trusted his guy feeling he originally had, Ace would still be alive . The. Ace's capture led to Luffy's chase, where Luffy meets Jinbe. They get to the war where Kaido tried to get to but Shanks intercepts. Kaido is the father of Yamato. Ace dies. Shanks gets to the battlefield. Ends the war. Buries Ace and Whitebeard. How these people all tie together and how a good number of them end up in scenes following each other right when they do a Yamato flashback. Something not uncommon for new Strawhats to get.
