Could also be that Laughtale is a moving island like Zou but instead of moving randomly it has a pattern to it that you need all 4 RP to determine. And since no one lives there no one has a way to find it like Zou which requires using a vivre card.
Perhaps, apparently it was quite important to have a Log Pose to get back there

Hm I thought the Log Pose was important to make it to Lodestar not Laughtale?

My understanding was you need to use Log Pose to make it to Lodestar since it's the last magnetic island. And only once you make it to Lodestar do you learn that Poneglyphs are important and that RP exist out there. From there you can then search for the RP and end up in Laughtale.

It's weird that's always been left so vague. I wonder what exactly it is at Lodestar that gives you the poneglyph hint? Surely it'd be on the WG's shit list too?

I always thought it would be a special poneglyph on Rodestar but that does end up being a bit circular. If you don't already know how to read them and didn't think of them as important I don't know why a poneglyph itself would change your mind.

Definitely a strange issue as far as WG is concerned. It's clearly a reachable island so why they haven't just destroyed it or better yet built a base there to keep it under their control is beyond me. Like before the great age of pirates was the New World even hard to control, and if so why?

So yeah I'm drunk and everyone left so I go back to One Piece lol

Ok just noticed this: This is Luffy fighting Kaido but their clash doesn't look like Kaido and Luffy.

Ehhhh I'm guessing this has been mentioned lol

let’s say there are only four islands in and around raftel as shown in the image below. you will not be able to triangulate to Raftel’s location using any three islands as markers.

A fourth frame of reference isn't necessary unless height/depth...

Huh?

Of course you need the 4th location

Depending of where the 4th location is, the intersection point will be different

It's not even just "A" reachable island, it's "THE" reachable island. Imagine if every GPS in the world had a natural endpoint that took you toward a kiosk that had directions to a place where ALL the money/value/history/knowledge/whatever is. Like... certainly Lodestar is enormously guarded and/or nuked lol

I'd think at least in the modern era that the WG/Navy has done something. Even if it is hard to get there by going from island to island I'd think at this point there is also an Eternal Pose to Lodestar. Hopefully the SHs actually go there soon so we can see it.

One thing that I've recently been wondering is if the Giants have ruled multiple islands and are based in NW that maybe Lodestar was there turf in the past centuries giving it protection from WG.

I felt the same way when Lulusia was erased. Like... Imu should've done that to Elbaf... maybe... I'll give that a pass since we don't know nearly enough

Yeah one thing that's stuck out to me the most about Elbaf so far is that apparently there are OTHER nations of giants? Like it's so low-key when mentioned, but it's such a massive revelation

With the Ancient Weapon I do think it was likely a Lulusia from a test perspective. Imagine they tried nuking Elbaf and the test failed. That would force the WG into a war they weren't planning to have. Plus with Elbaf being a giant tree that reaches above the clouds it begs the question could the weapon even get high enough in the sky to do what it did in Lulusia without being noticed on approach. I'd bet once they get more Motherflame they would be willing to use it on more prime enemy territory like Elbaf and Wano.

Yeah the whole other countries with giants thing definitely is irking. It's a huge change in the story's narrative but was done in the background to try going unnoticed. Feels like a retcon in a way since up to this point in the story its always been about Elbaf being the place where giants are from.

I had hoped that Toei would chill out a little with all of this aura stuff but I guess so much for my hopes - auras will stay. Luffy kicking Kizaru looks like something straight out of My Hero Academia or Saitama vs. Boros in OPM. It looks nice it just doesn't look like One Piece.

Random thought... The previous chapters revealed that giants are descended from much larger ancient giants and some even have horns. Basically recessive ancient giant traits seem to occasionally show up. I am wondering if something like this is possible in more distant giat descendants. I was wondering this specifically in regards to katakuri. First look at oars:

And now katakuri...

Katakuri's appearance always stroke me as specially weird because his facial structure is significantly different from his two brothers he was born with. Oven and daifuku look normal. Clearly they are non identical triplets. So with the reveal that giant traits can show up like that and might even have something to do with the existence of some of the other races in the series... A reasonable explanation for katakuri's appearance is that a little of ancient giant just happened to show up in him. And he could have gotten that either from big mom, who conceivably has giant ancestry, or perhaps his father was part ancient giant (though big mom is the more likely part with giant genes).

I've kind of been removed from OP recently. Been losing my passion for it due to some real world stuff I'm dealing with right now but I check i at least once a day and yesterday and today I've seen alot of infighting about how Toei depicted Sanji in the last episode of the anime. Seem like this has been a trend. I'm not an anime fans and haven't been for years, but this has seem to be the trend with Sanji since the post time skip.

Are there any anime watchers that have an opinion on this? I don't have specifics and I know the anime is not technically "canon" but you'd think a company would be committed to not breaking away from Oda's intentions.

That being said, is anyone excited for the Wit studio anime retelling? My intention is to fully watch that from episode 1

I'm feeling pretty charmed and intrigued by the Elbaf arc so far. Oda could have easily bombarded the beginning by having dozens of enemies with black magic powers immediately target the Straw Hats. But instead, he largely scales down the fighting in favor of having more downtime moments and lore. It's pretty nice.

Well I know we‘ve been talking about this a few times already but I‘m still feeling obliged to reply once more. Yes I couldn‘t agree more, I totally enjoy the pacing and the build up of the Elbaf Arc as well. Don’t forget the portrayal of Luffy’s allies. The introduction of Road, who obviously is about to be redeemed and be a crucial ally in the final arc was well executed and outstanding as well (guess Duval‘s introduction and change of heart was somewhat comparable). Also noteworthy that Road did get a thought bubble latetely. And of course the whole Loki plot is outstanding as well, we were expecting Loki to be just a spoiled, evil and mischievous prince ravelling in his father‘s glory (like a giant royal Helmeppo, with more wits) but nope, the poor lad been hated by the whole nation and tied to the Adam‘s tree the same way the god Loki was tied to Yggdrasil‘s root once.

And of course Oda's Academy Award-worthy moment of Robin's tearful reunion with Saul and caveman mural of Joy Boy vs. the World.

Honestly, I did not know the anime was cancelled from long-running. This corresponds suddenly with the new pacing in Elbaph, which appears more in line with old stuff from around even as early as East Blue, where we had a direct simple plot structure and all the side-lines and sight-seeings had ulterior purpose and fulfilled multiple functions.

The Walrus school, for instance. It set up the entire conflict with the children, introduced their teachers, while also being the background for Saul's entire absence from the modern world in a way that actually makes a certain degree of sense (remember she was public enemy number 1 for ages, next to Dragon himself, basically, and was nearly impossible to find. People complained about it him not trying to send word, but remember that Saul himself was only left off the CP hit-list because Kuzan basically reported him dead...). I mean, we assume he knows she was with Dragon all these 2 years. But she wasn't publicly stating it and Saul was definitely in hiding himself to ensure the books remained hidden. I doubt he had any real reason to seek her out and his waiting for her when he realized she was basically destined to reach Elbaph some day, seemed more wise than not. It isn't like he is her surrogate father, they were just friends who met and parted in tragedy.

Either way I'm hoping for Elbaph to not go beyond 60-70 chapters at most. If the anime is no longer a marketing threat to Oda, I see him being aloud to work peacefully. So far, my theory that this was a pacing issue seems to be true. We will have to wait until this arc concludes to determine if this observation holds any water. It certainly will be telling if the anime is now seasonal. (I need to go check on this. Where was the announcement of its cancelation? When? And what are the terms of the anime's renewal? Is it going to just return to the ongoing schedule?

With the return of the anime I thought they'd be doing more than a chapter an episode since they no longer have to be weekly. It's still too early to say but I'd confident that the animation quality itself will improve due to the reduced number of total episodes but now two weeks in its clear they are still adapting a chapter per episode which to me is one of the core issues that impacts the pacing. If they are going to be seasonal I don't know why they wouldn't at least do two chapters an episode so they could have a solid pace with higher quality animation.

At this point I think the best hope for the anime is going to be the new one that starts from scratch at the beginning. By being so behind chapter wise they definitely should have the more standard modern anime quality of several chapters an episode.
