Ground Rules for the Power Level Discussion Thread

As always, please follow the guidelines set by the Forum Rules that apply across the board.

It's important that discussions from a current chapter are spoiler tagged until 24h have passed from an english release.

  • For the sake of constructive discussion, where and when possible please quote/ source any information you provide. Particularly when it comes to conversations carried over from other threads.
  • Avoid passive agressive posts, sly remarks or baiting/trolling. You can certainly have fun or disagree without it being at someone's expense.
  • Only use anime examples that are canon and as means to provide clarity to pages in the manga. Any other anime material is otherwise non-canon and should only be referenced if it can be proved that the mangaka had approved it.
  • We will strive to avoid repetitive discussions and any extensive battle topics will be guided to the Davy Back fight to existing threads or new ones can be made there.

As of now these topics are shelved due to repetitiveness or until the manga can present us with material to further discussions:

  1. Shanks v Mihawk
  2. Hand to hand fighters > Swordsmen
  3. Zoro > Luffy
  4. Zoro v Sanji
  5. Is Smoker a top 30 character?
  6. Mihawk's rank within the story
  7. Law having CoC currently.
  8. Katakuri > Kaido/Luffy/Etc.

If you wish to continue any of these discussion and remove it from the list, you will need to provide manga material as proof. If there's also anything you think we've covered numerous times, let me know and I'll update the list.

This is the only warning there'll be regarding these ground rules, anything no adhering will be removed. So please just check your posts before posting them.

You know what's more interesting? Does Kaido and BM knows Ryou? Because they doesn't seem to be able to hurt each other.

I dont like the fact that it is "impenetrable." I dont think anything is impenetrable in OP world. Im sure something or someone can penetrate it.

Impenetrable by normal means... im sure the door door no mi can get past the barrier.

I'm talking WB Quakes, Magma Fists, things like that

That's what I meant though, I believe the barrier can be broken through physical force

Other DF abilities; Like Blueno’s.

It does kinda suck, but it is what it is. Doesn’t make it invincible.

Barto ain’t all that smart or skilled.

I don't want to ignore this, so I'll properly answer it in PM.
NO, UNNECESSARY
Its not irrelevant since this is the narrative Oda is taking/using.
There are others besides Jinbe, characters like Sanji, Marco, Yamato, Drake, Franky, and Robin not to forget the 9RS who are only down for now

This is why you can't just dismiss the narrative as irrelevant, the 5 up there are not only strong enough to win but they are the only people who can win
The five up there are supernovas, whereas Sanji, Jinbei, and Marco aren't considered supernovas. They're also young enough to create a new era and lead it, whereas Jinbei isn't as young anymore. Doesn't discount the fact that he can still be up there.
Okay, so this is what I think of internal destruction CoA.

Internal destruction haki applied to the thin surface that is a blade's edge might look just like a normal cut. It would be the damage from the blade + the haki on that thin surface of impact creating a wound from the insideout that looks like any other cut, but stronger because of the damage from the cut bursting from the inside.

For all we know, unless we're shown a samurai using this advanced form on haki in a different fashion, this can be simply how it looks.

In my opinion, it would fit and explain why Oden was able to damage Kaido like that. I would have a hard time believing Hyogoro (also a swordsman) knows this ultimate form of haki and the strongest Wano resident we have seen until now, Oden, didn't, especially it being the key to damage Kaido and all.

Since Wano is a country with closed borders, they have developed this advanced ryou on their own, separately from the outside world, which implies it has been developed by samurai (Wano's strongest warriors) and can be efficiently used through a sword, even if elites like the Scabbards haven't been able of reaching it because they disregarded Oden's ryou trainings as shown in that small flashback during their fight.

I'm sure Oden told the Scabbards "your haki isn't on Oden's level" just to now tell Luffy otherwise. If he does not then I'll have to rethink this topic.

I do wonder, though, what he'll tell Zoro instead if he cuts him.
I just thought of the the rasengan training Jiraiya give Naruto? Or was that Kakashi? Or was that Sasuke vs. Naruto on top of the water tower, where the damage looked minor on front, but from behind it was considerable? Or something? Or was that Naruto using rasengan on Kabuto which did more damage than Kabuto thought it would?

Different from you, i rather like it if it is impenetrable, i want oda to create things that cant be beaten with sheer power, but you have to outsmart it..

I think Barto's barrier could be outpowered by someone like Kaidou or Big Mom, but I can't imagine that not having a weakness. Do we know that Barto can still be attacked from underground?

Oden failed to break through the barrier of the old man, who as far we know was just a regular person. So it surely is invulnerable.

The weakness of the barrier is that it can only cover a limited area. But I presume the sphere around Oden did may have covered the underground area.

Sounds more like an excuse to me! 9RS knew they were going to get spanked and still followed through!

Barto tanked a kings punch casually and that attack is a top tier attack , even odsn couldn't break through it , it's tough as shit

Barto was capable of creating even long stairs made of barriers, so if needed and if the plot allows it he surely can create a barrier under his feet to protect from underground attacks.

The attack from barrier itself isn't that great so there is no need to feel threatened. So in a balanced point of view, the barrier should be indestructible. It's a defensive based ability after all.

Like someone said above, the fruit can be outsmarted or outplayed by other abilities. Now Blueno has some uses.

Barto>Whitebeard

Isn't Whitebeard's ability a hack ability itself, similar with Blueno's? I mean, the first time we saw him demonstrating his ability was him cracking the air! I think that's similar to how Blueno was able to make a door out of thin air. So, Whitebeard can bypass Barto's barrier not through brute force, but with his gimmicky ability instead.

It seems Whitebeard's ability can be blocked by barriers.

First we have the Admirals' Haki emission. Second there's Marineford reinforced walls.

Presumably, a barrier with "infinite" strength would block 100% of his shockwaves.

But Bartolomeo's barrier don't block sounds, so, huh... screw it, it's a magical ability.

did the old man have the same power as Bart? And Oden was probably not as strong as he's given credit for, so who knows.

It's an attack on par with a Yonkou punch, right? Or it can hurt a Yonkou? But what if the Yonkou can create a more powerful punch than what the king something gave to Barto's barrier?

The old man had the same Devil Fruit as Bartolomeo.

If a 100 million pirate can block a Yonko-level attack, or a "regular person" can take get Oden locked up, I don't see why assume that increasing the strength a bit more is going to be effective.
